The hotel opened in 1977 as a 120 rooms five-star hotel – the first of its kind in Nepal. A new wing with 150 additional rooms followed which was built in harmony with the architecture of the old palace, the Lal Durbar, featuring beautiful artefacts, art and traditionally crafted fixtures.
