HONEY Rebeka Garn What’s all the buzz about bees? Bees are vital contributors to our world, pollinating crops, making beeswax, and giving us that sweet honey. But the bees are in trouble, and they need our help! Honey is a collection celebrating bees and all they do. Through complex embroidery, intricate details, and dedication to craft, Honey honors quality over quantity and longevity over mass-consumption. Floral details and waspie silhouettes mirror the organic beauty of bees, and the range of colors symbolize not only the way bees color our world, but how colorless a world without them would bee. Visit savebees.org for more info and to join the fight to protect our buzzy friends.

CHECKMATE Ethan Caudillo
Checkmate, a collection of the bold checkered patterns and romantic reds in a mix of contemporary cut garments, plays on the theme of juxtaposition. The geometric shapes of the checkers, rigidness of the squares, and the black and whites works against the organic forms of the embroidered flowers and flowy movements in a sophisticated and fashionable way.

RUIN
Esha Patel eshathepatel@gmail.com
Your world is thrown into an apocalypse. The world you know is crumbling around you and the future holds only danger and uncertainty. You feel frustration and rage; you feel fear and desperation; you feel nausea and despair; but through it all, a sliver of hope forces you onward. From the aggressive intensity of the queen to the hollow melancholy of the ghost, this collection uses different archetypes to personify the slew of emotions that accompany disaster. Despite the surrounding catastrophe, this collection fights on, driven by a desperate hope for a better future. PHOTO CREDIT: STEVEN Z.
MIDNIGHT SILHOUETTES Xuege Ma
xma@ucdavis.edu
The collection Midnight Silhouettes was inspired by contrasting geometric shapes and asymmetric arts, which are the fashion trends in these years. The four garments are basically made by black suiting fabric and black satin fabric to create the contrasting of the textures. Also, a little bit organza, mesh fabric, chiffon and beads are used as embellishments. The garments all have clean lines and asymmetric visual effects. The garments in this collection can be used as formal dresses and can show graceful silhouettes.

SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW
Drake Alexander
Somewhere Over the Rainbow
is a collection that is meant to
commemorate those who have
struggled as a member of the
LGBTQIA community. It is meant to reflect the idea that even though
life may be difficult for those in this marginalized community, the
strength that an individual has to make life look effortless is one to
be celebrated. I have designed these garments to be
monochromatic in the ROYGBIV
spectrum to represent the Pride flag;
I have included sweetheart necklines
to represent the love we must have
for each other’s differences; I have used the mixture of cottons, chiffons, and satins in this
collection to represent the
complexity of this community.

AMIDST THIS
Marielle Ednalino
The collection AMIDST THIS centers its aesthetics and visualizations around the purple crystal quartz, Amethyst Inspired by the metaphysical and healing properties of the stone, each garment strives to explore the balancing of outward energies as an intersection with fashion. Accented with one or more qualities of the stone, the collection defines itself with sharp edges, intricate layering, and captivating shine to provide vibrations beyond the transient.

SUEÑOS DE GRANADA Emily Keating
My collection “Sueños de Granada,” was inspired by my travels through Europe. I was drawn to the colors and motifs I saw while I was in Spain especially. I loved the bold colors and strong geometric shapes. In my collection, I have played with different shapes and patterns. While I used a variety of hues in the blues and greens, each piece has accents of gold. All the patterns and colors mix well together and give a sense of the mixing of cultures that can be seen today and in the history of Spain. The overall collection is a blend of historical and contemporary style.

HALCYON DAYS Rong Ben
www.rongbenstudio.com
“Halcyon days is a collection of garments for kids around age 4-8. The garments are mostly made with DuPont paper, which is a kind of non-woven fabric that is very durable, water-resistent and flame-resistant. The lightweight feature of the material makes the garment children-friendly; Meanwhile, the paper texture gives the whole collection a sense of childhood craft arts. The surface design is created with round-shape candies dipped in colorful fabric paints, rolling in a box randomly. The process of making this collection is playful and enjoyable. The movement and transformation of the designs enable the kids to have fun with the garments, bringing the audience to the halcyon days, seeking for the pure and original happiness.

NECTAR
Colleen Smith Nectar stems from the beauty and grace of California’s native wildflowers. The collection explores the unique textures, colors, and shapes of each flower. Sheer, flowing fabrics and detailed trims recreate the delicate charm of flowers such as California poppies and thistles. This elegant collection showcases the gorgeous state of California and emphasizes that even the smallest flower on the most stubborn weed is exquisite.

SYNERGY Lisa Lo
www.lisaclo.com
“The creation of a whole that is greater than the simple sum of it’s parts.” I have always had a passion for art, where my creativity originally developed. I see fashion as a form of art. Through my collection, I transformed some of my favorite artworks into vibrant wearable fashions. The result is something more than just art on a new canvas. Rather the synergistic interaction gives new life and new perspective to both my art and fashion.

MARATUS VOLANS
Liliana Barretti
The collection is inspired the beautiful peacock spider. Newly discovered and native to Australia, these tiny jumping spiders create the most elaborate visual displays in the animal kingdom. From fiery orange to splashy turquoise to glowing beige, this collection takes the vibrant colors and essence of the rainforest to the glitz and glamour of high-end culture. The asymmetrical lines, glistening crystals and acoustics of feathers definitely make a statement. The males peacock spiders are notable for their disco-like dance rituals, using their eight legs and bright, iridescent rumps to attract females. The ideal wearers are spontaneous and full of energy, live an eccentric life of adventureand spontaneity, and know their power and ability to reach their fullest potential.

GUARDIANS Diana Moua
dianamoua2@gmail.com My collection Guardians is inspired by forest animals. Each garment emphasizes body features and textures of a few animals that are significant components of life in forests. The exaggerated features are integrated with the human silhouette, which creates a chimera effect. Through the fusion of body features, the collection embodies a mystic and fantasy theme. The neutral color scheme adds realism and brings attention to the beauty of natural elements. Target clients for this collection are young adults who are interested in unconventional formal attire and appreciate wildlife and nature.

BENTHIC ZONE Dieu Hien Vo www.dhtvo.com
My collection is inspired by sea slugs, “Nudibranch.” These are some the most gorgeously colored creatures with fascinating shapes and textures. I want people to be captivated by the dramatic and daring color palettes that were drawn from the different families of Nudibranch. The simple silhouette is accompanied with different types of ruffles to imitate the movement of the sea slugs in their natural habitat.
Model is wearing a garment that represents the family of “Notodoris Minor.”

POSER
Taylor Relyea
This collection was inspired by sustainability and repurposing. I was particularly drawn to upcycling coffee bags because of the unique qualities that they each possess, as well as the interconnectedness of people, places and culture that they all carry. Most of these burlap bags are thrown away after their initial use, but still have a lot of integrity left in them. I saw potential in the authentic and functional aspects of these bags now also becoming the main aesthetic elements. Paired with romantic florals, deep reds, cream whites and unique prints, POSER is a collection of formality and reinvention.

SEA GRACE Grace Young
My collection, Sea Grace, is inspired by the glistening colors displayed as light reflects off both the ocean and it’s mythical mermaid inhabitants. The silhouettes are tightly fitted, yet, unfold and flow as they dance around extremities of the body. Each piece was uniquely designed with bright and shimmering fabrics to capture the essence of my inspiration. Fabric manipulation is used with iridescent rhinestones to enhance the glossy fabrics and represent a one-of-a-kind style and design. The garments stand out and make a bold statement, but are also meant to be worn to a classy event.

ÉLÉMENTS Sally Lee
sallyleestudio.wixsite.com/ portfolio
The collection, éléments, explores the triplicate relationship between the elements, seasons, and light. Inspired by the ancient Western and Indian astrology of four classical elements, earth, fire, wind, and water, I wanted to accentuate the beauty of each season using LED lights to highlight the elemental details. éléments balances the manipulation of traditional fabric with unconventional materials to highlight the materialistic symbols of the four seasons.
