I would redesign a number of parking garages to be places of style, convenience, and cleanliness.

As we’re re-entering life as we knew it pre-COVID, I’m reminded of the wonderful work our Lifestyles South Florida editorial team has done in keeping us up-to-date with their timely and interesting stories regarding changes in fashion, food, home design, neighborhoods, travel, and more.

Even before COVID, our residential real estate industry was seeing new home buyers gravitating toward purchasing homes closer to where they needed to be — or wanted to be — particularly to places of convenience and interest to them, where they and their families could easily walk. Many of our urban neighborhood planners have conceived new wonderfully thought-out designs, which are drawing communities closer and closer to each other. We have referred to selling the “two Cs” of Community and Convenience, where residents of these new neighborhoods are finding life to be more fulfilling and less stressful.

Emboldened by technology and momentum towards expression and progress, the world of design has crossed over to our daily vernacular in unprecedented ways. From personalizing your sneakers (“The Sneak Peek”) to experiencing the immersive world of Ferrari (“La Moda Ferrari”) to partaking in the understated theatricality of Jean-Louis Deniot, aka interior design’s biggest star (“French Accent”), suggesting that design merely surrounds us might be a clichéd understatement.

While many of our daily routines have been changed by the events of these past two-and-a-half years, we’re all finding more and better ways to adapt — ways that have made life more casual and more closely connected to our families and friends. Did any of us ever think prior to 2020 that we’d be working from home more than at the office? The opportunities to spend more time in your neighborhood or building, and walking more to businesses that are close to your home, have opened up many introductions to new friends and stronger relationships.

To the delight of many, the matrix of ingenuity may be upon us, and to celebrate its reach, “Magical Thinking” showcases innovators who are reconfiguring life as we know it. But the biggest design shift may be in the digital space, where luxury brands are vying to dress our avatar doppelgängers. Never heard of it? Catch up on the latest digital fashions in “Skins in the Game.” Finally, leave it to our cover star and Miami native, Jencarlos Canela, to set his sights on the ultimate redesign project. In our chat, he shares how realigning with his purpose has led to a professional and personal metamorphosis with a new album dropping this year to prove it. How’s that for a makeover?

Welch and her machine will be making two Florida stops on the Dance Fever Tour: Orlando’s Amway Center on September 23 and the FTX Arena in Miami the following night. For tickets, visit florenceandthemachine.net.

The album was initially scheduled to be recorded in New York back in March 2020, but was finally completed in a patchwork of sessions in London. The result is perhaps the band’s strongest offering to date. Whether she’s confronting gender expectations (“King”), sexual flippancy (“Dream Girl Evil”), or the loneliness and fear of the pandemic (“My Love”), the 14 tracks form an often mythical story of a woman fighting her way out from under the weight of an oppressive world. And, she’s succeeding. For those keeping track, this album is the band’s fourth consecutive top 10 debut.

TRIP THE FANTASTICLIGHT

“The songs have had an oddly prescient quality,” she said at the album’s release party. “Performance is the place where I feel the most free.”

The title of Florence + The Machine’s new album, Dance Fever, might suggest a long-awaited reprieve from the isolation that fell upon the world over the last few years. In truth, the title comes from lead singer Florence Welch’s fascination with a 16th century illness called choreomania, wherein the afflicted would literally dance themselves to death.

FLORENCE + THE MACHINE’S DANCE FEVER TOUR COMES TO FLORIDA

Whirling on stage like a Maxfield Parrish character come to life, Welch’s performances on tour are imbued with an extra dose of vim this time around. The lockdown was rattling for her (Welch has been sober for eight years) leaving her terrified that live performances might never again be possible. Translation: she’s so ready to rock.

A curated list of ideas to celebrate this season’s bounty.

CINE-FILES / A discrete enclave of the rich and famous since the 1920s, this spot is most often whispered about as a favored rendezvous promising anonymity for the affluent — all tucked within lushly cloaked courtyards. This fall, The Brazilian Court Hotel in Palm Beach will play on its storied past by launching movie nights under the stars, al fresco style, for locals and visitors alike.

Movie buffs will screen a selection of old Hollywood classics starring former guests of the hotel for whom the property’s largest suites are named after. Think Audrey Hepburn, Humphrey Bogart, Marlon Brando, and Cary Grant. Movies or not, the hotel, wrapped in European old-world charm, remains the hub of local activities, in no small part thanks to its location and amenities. Guests are placed just steps away from both the beach and Worth Avenue, showcasing some of the world’s finest shopping and galleries. The resort also features the award-winning Café Boulud and The Brazilian Court Salon, as well as the Paul Fisher Art Gallery. Those bewitched by its enviable charms can now take some of its luster home. The hotel recently launched an online shop with exclusively branded merchandise aptly named Casa by The Brazilian Court. Can’t get enough of the Missoni zigzag? Neither can we. Now, thanks to brand’s Resort Club project, the sartorial signature of the fashion industry icon will be found at some of the most prestigious Italian and international destinations. The stylish endeavor was kicked off with a transformation of the famous Le Carillon restaurant and its exclusive beach in the bay of Paraggi, close to Portofino, Italy. Missoni used its famous fabrics — selected by the creative director of the label’s home decoration line, Alberto Caliri — to decorate the interiors of the veranda overlooking the beach, as well as beach umbrellas and sun lounger cushions. The endeavor sets out to promote the style and iconic nature of the brand worldwide with intentions to makeover some of the best known jet-set destinations worldwide. Could Miami make the short list? We can only hope so.

POOL PLAY / The Grand Dame of hip hospitality has announced an opening of its second Miami location. Slated to open later this year, Soho House will launch Miami Pool House to service hipsters living between the areas of Wynwood and Edgewater. Located in a former printing facility, Windward Publishing, the space will feature an outdoor dining terrace, restaurant, club space, and cottage bar designed around an outdoor pool. Miami Pool House will be a tranquil, laptop-friendly workspace boosted by its signature social savoir faire, plus similar evening events and entertainment that helped make its sister location on the beach such a hit. Also, as is the case with the original flagship, Miami Pool House will be accessible to members and their guests only, rousing all interested to apply before the coveted memberships are gone.

FLIGHT MODE / Looking to elevate your game to new heights? The Zero-G Experience® is a one-ofa-kind opportunity to experience true weightlessness without going to space! The trip (using a modified Boeing 727 flown by specially trained pilots, who are experts in parabolic arcs) creates a weightless environment that offers a chance to float, flip, and soar like an astronaut. The process starts with the aircraft flying level with the horizon at an altitude of 24,000 feet. The pilots then gradually increase the angle of the aircraft to about 45° relative to the horizon until reaching an altitude of 32,000 feet. During this phase, passengers feel the pull of 1.8 Gs. Next, the plane pushes over the top of the parabolic arc and the zero-gravity phase begins. For the next 20-30 seconds, everything in the plane is weightless. Finally, the plane gently pulls out of the maneuver, allowing flyers to gradually return to the floor of the aircraft. The maneuver is flown 15 times over the course of the flight, each taking about ten miles of airspace to perform. In addition to zero gravity, flyers aboard G-FORCE ONE experience Lunar gravity (one sixth your weight), achieved by flying a wider arc over the top of the parabola. Sign up for your trip this October launching from Merritt Island and Fort Lauderdale.

“I can’t leave my house without the snake ring. Originally, I designed snake jewelry to overcome my fears. I was afraid of snakes, yet they symbolize good luck. Now I wear them nearly every day. In fact, snake themes in the jewelry industry have become one of the most popular.”

“I love to mix and match. My crowdstopping look is that with multiple rings. My aesthetic is ‘more is more,’ as I like bold statements. I wear jewelry every day, and I get stopped by women who love how I wear my jewels with casual, work, or special occasion looks. Stefere may be known because of celebrities, but any woman can access our pieces.”

feminine glam. Our best sellers are snakes and skull motifs, as well as florals and butterflies. As a designer, I am mesmerized by colorful gems. My favorite pieces are the oversized flower rings with miniature Rolling Stones lips. For a more romantic look, I love long butterfly rings. I am obsessed with our emerald hoop earrings, ear-cuffs, or crosses with blue stones, a Mykonian sea inspiration. Madonna has become a big fan and collector of our cross collections, too.”

One thing rings true: jewelry never goes out of style. And when combined with star power, the results are positively dazzling. Just ask Corina Mihaila Larpin, whose bijouterie brand Stefere, available at Saks Fifth Avenue and Bergdorf Goodman, is synonymous with Hollywood royalty. We asked the jet setter, who lives between LA, Geneva, Mykonos, Hong-Kong, and Miami, about her favorite trinkets.

2/ Antony Armchair by Virgil Abloh for Basic Space I’m really lucky because I already have two of these. Virgil Abloh was inspired by Jean Prouvé, who originally designed it in the 1950s. When Abloh reimagined it, he added plexiglass and accentuated it with a powder blue lacquer finish. It is a very functional piece.

This chair, part of Louis Vuitton’s Objets Nomades collection, is made out of fiberglass shell, lined with calfskin, and quilted on the inside. These are just super fun; it would be great to have in my house. I could imagine curling up inside and reading a book.

1/ Fragile Future by Studio Drift for Design Miami’s Carpenters Workshop I really love lighting and how it changes a space. This light fixture combines both nature and technology. 3/ Mexique Bookcase by Charlotte Perriand and Jean Prouvé I would love to have this in my house. This freestanding bookcase created by the iconic design-duo Perriand and Prouvé was a commission for a dormitory in Paris in the early 1950s. 5/ Hanji Table & Stool by WKND Lab for Design Miami This piece is made out of traditional wood fiber paper. I’m really fascinated with the process of how a product is made even more so than the final product itself. It’s really cool how they can get functional furniture from paper.

4/ Louis Vuitton Objets Nomades Cocoon by Fernando & Umberto Campana

A logo-lover’s fantasy, one cannot go wrong with this Italian-made shoe — a blend of calf leather and a unique, velvet-printed, Klein-blue Louis Vuitton's signature Monogram pattern. The femme cut, sleek waveshaped outsole completes this iconic design for a look that works with slacks for a polished presentation or a dress for those looking to give a polished look an edge. Available at the Louis Vuitton Boutique in Aventura Mall.

The sneaker of choice for the who’s who, the Golden Goose brand has become a household name. Known for their perfectly imperfect footwear for men, women, and children, it offers the luxury of a handcrafted shoe with a twist. Taking approximately 80 hours per pair to produce, the Ball Star sneaker has become an Italian-made classic that has garnered a cult following. The artisans who create each unit have mastered the “lived-in” look, and in case of the Ball Star the style evokes sentiments of the good ol’ college days in the 1980s mixed in with basketball style and skating culture. Think of it as a sartorial amalgamation loaded with life’s experiences. Noticeably recognizable from its signature star appliqué on the outside of each sneaker, the beaten-up look of the distressed calf leather offers durability, comfort, and major visual stimulation. If you are feeling creative head on down to the boutique at Bal Harbour Shops where you can customize your pair at the co-creation table.

6/ What about any hidden gems? I feel like not many people are aware of the extensive waterways that weave through Coral Gables. There’s nothing like a day on the boat in South Florida, and here you can wind down 8 miles of canals before dropping off on Biscayne Bay. 7/ Any thoughts on the city’s future? It’s amazing how a city that’s so steeped in history can embrace the future the way Coral Gables has. Construction is booming and new shops, bars and restaurants are springing up. I think more families, couples, and even businesses will be flocking to take advantage of everything the city has to offer.

1/ Tell us about the neighborhood.

BY DESIRÉE BLANCO

Tri-county real estate associate and self-described homebody, Jeannie Montes de Oca knows from experience how important it is to make a house a home. Here, she reveals some insider information on why Coral Gables is the perfect place to hang your hat.

2/ What do you love most? As one of the first planned cities in Florida, The City Beautiful has a robust and well-maintained history. To this day you can visit the home of our founder George Merrick, stay at the world-renowned Biltmore Hotel, and splash about in the Venetian Pool. 3/ What’s your favorite activity? I really love walking with my corgi around our iconic golf courses, like the Granada Golf Course, Riviera Country Club or the Biltmore, all of which are both beautiful and challenging walks. I may even find my way to Chocolate Fashion for some freshly baked French bread! 4/ What about the architecture? The dominant style of architecture here is Mediterranean and Spanish — even our streets are named after towns and destinations in Spain — so you can find that everywhere. What many visitors don’t know about is the little villages dotted throughout the city that replicate traditional architecture from all over the world, like the Chinese Village, the Dutch South African Village and the French Normandy Village, my personal favorite. 5/ Are there any cultural opportunities? Absolutely! In addition to Spanish, I also speak French and Italian, so I love catching the foreign films that the Coral Gables Art Cinema screens. The exhibits and events at the Coral Gables Museum and Lowe Art Museum at UM are intriguing and fun for art lovers and families. And local bookshop Books & Books is a great place to mix and mingle with our culturati, as they often host authors and poets.

I’m back with the team to do a post show debrief to figure out what we liked, what we didn’t like, and what we could improve on. We are also planning for the rest of the shows. After, I narrate the “Class Action” podcast on iHeartMedia.

The most exciting part of my day: I tape an entire hour of “The Katie Phang Show.”

I have multiple team calls with Peacock and MSNBC to go over show mapping, prospective guests, and bounce around ideas, so we have a preliminary run down of what we want the show to look like for the next couple of days.

8pm

I make breakfast for my daughter, Charlotte. To start my own day, I make myself a latte with oat milk. I also take my soon-to-be 15-year-old miniature schnauzer, Lola, out for a walk.

I shower and then I’ll read. I’m always reading. If I’m not reading on the internet, I’m into hardcover books from guests, prospective guests, or a subject matter that I’m interested in. And, of course, I’m also cruising TikTok. I love TikTok, the cooking, the makeup, and the animals, you name it. Aspirationally, I’m in bed by 10.

It’s one of the best shows I’ve ever seen with amazing costumes, music, and performances. Medusa matches the glorious vibe of the Cannes’ Pointe Croisette seaside district. The building is designed like a castle decorated with palm trees, fairy lights, and a red carpet. In contrast, the interior feels sophisticated and colorful thanks to the combination of the lighting with the furniture. Medusa plays a broad spectrum of music, including R&B, house, and live music performances, attracting elite local and international guests. It also features burlesque dancers that will keep you entertained all night long.

Accolades keep pouring in for a local baker whose baked goods are the stuff of legend.

In the meantime, Stern has filled the disappointment gap with another achievement: the Michelin Gourmand Bib Award, which he calls “thrilling.” Stern says, “I find the category to be extremely relevant: quality food at a good price. So much of quality is reserved for those of such privilege and is therefore out of reach to most. You can visit the bakery at 8 a.m. and spend $4 on a fresh croissant that was mixed, laminated, shaped, proofed, and baked fresh on site. That level of quality at such a low price point plays an important role in our culinary culture, and I’m proud that we were recognized for it.”

We couldn’t agree more.

In fact, he’s so renowned for his breads and pastries, the latter of which cater to his kosher/Jewish community but appeal to all, that he’s caught the eye of the James Beard Award

When Zak Stern, otherwise known as Zak the Baker, first started making sourdough bread in Miami back in 2012, he wasn’t thinking about awards. But he always comes back home to the Grove.

“I learned about autism in my early thirties and it always struck me,” he says. “These young adults can experience work and have a sense of great accomplishment.”

One day, his skill and creativity caught someone’s eye, which led to his first commission for a more complex piece of jewelry. “I wasn’t sure how to make it,” he recalls. “I ran home and asked my neighbor for help. He was a jewelry maker and had a workshop in his garage.”

It’s hard to believe that Jencarlos Canela — he of TV fame, musical accolades, caramel skin, and blue eyes — could ever feel anything but self-assured. Yet the twists and turns of show business haven’t spared this Miamian from the side effects of its polarizing nature. Turning his attention inward has put Canela on a journey of self-discovery that yielded a role in The Man from Toronto, a film he co-stars with Kevin Hart and Woody Harrelson, and an upcoming opus of musical reveries. Judging by the depth of Canela’s reflections, the album might be his best one yet.

I choose the projects I’m most passionate about. In other words I let the projects choose me when choosing what to prioritize.

Tell us about the new album. Yes, I’ve been working on one. I haven’t put one out in seven years. I’ve launched singles, but it’s been a while since I was inspired and motivated enough to build an album around a whole concept. And this is, without a doubt, the most introspective one I’ve ever done in my life. It dives into a lot of personal stuff and it’s ultimately about loving yourself through the good and notso-good of a human experience.

Sounds like you have given this some serious thought. Yes. This is a story about redefining who I am by taking a moment to figure out how many of my decisions have been influenced by culture, by generational trauma, the habits, and patterns of others. I’ve taken the time to psychoanalyze myself to make the adjustments that I need to reach my full potential. Music and acting are just vessels to communicate something bigger. And at the end of the day I would like to share my personal story with the hopes of creating some sort of positive impact.

You recently did a film with Kevin Hart and Woody Harrelson, The Man from Toronto. Will we be seeing more of you on the screen? I just did a TV series in Mexico that comes out at the end of the year. And there might be a follow up to The Man from Toronto. But, in addition to the new album that will be out soon, the biggest project I’m focusing on is me.

Isn’t it a bit risqué to be so emotionally revealing in your There’sindustry?nobiggerrisk than not stepping into your own power and your own story. I just don’t want life to pass me by and to live in the shadows of others and their expectations. Our first album debuted number one, our second album debuted number one, too. Billboard Magazine declared us as the first-ever independent launch in Latin music history to debut number one. You feel the pressure. That’s huge, and then you got to keep that up. And then when you don’t, it’s like, oh my God. What does that mean? The first lead role that I did on TV was a massive success all around the world. The second one needed to be that too, and if it wasn’t then I wasn’t any good. The mind starts playing tricks and you become your worst enemy.

My first album was a bit of a mess. I was just having fun and making music that I liked without a specific style in mind. I was still getting to know myself and my identity so that was reflected in the diversity of the album. In this album my identity is obviously much more established, as well as the sound of the album.

/ 32 LIFESTYLES SOUTH FLORIDA

I’ve dealt with severe anxiety for a big portion of my life. A lot of stress. The pressure of the expectations of others or my own expectations for myself. My relationship with food has been somewhat toxic; I’ve been codependent and self-sabotaging. I have played the role of my worst enemy for a big portion of my life. I started doing the “self” work and have built the tools to help me cope with things differently.

How has the inspiration behind your first album to the upcoming one different?

Did your decision to stay off social media factor into this story?

I took the time for myself that I needed, and I found something that I love. And that’s the ability to be present. I found my personal space. I haven’t stopped working since I was 17 years old, so that personal space for me is critical. I’m thinking of going back to social media without compromising the peace of mind that I have found. But parallel to that, I missed my connection with my audience. And my team is really excited to relaunch the space where we share all the exciting things that are happening. It’s such a huge way to communicate. So, we are looking to remain active without compromising what’s most important to me.

How do you juggle these various projects that include music, film, and production?

What recent challenges may have inspired this personal approach to music making?

The Curious Fashionista

Valeria Krasavina

valeriakrasavina.com

Moscow-born Valeria Krasavina is the type of artisan that refuses to be categorized. The prolific tastemaker is a fashion designer, an illustrator, a budding lifestyle doyenne, and a throughand-through creative who doesn’t turn inspiration away. “I think that when you are a creative person, there is always more than just one outlet for creativity,” says Krasavina. “Discovery is just so much fun.” In matters of style, there’s her Daydream Collection, a line of conceptual womenswear defined by asymmetrical tulle tops reminiscent of ballet tutus. “I came up with the concept while playing in my studio, and I developed unique techniques, so every piece is made to order by me,” she explains. “The first top I made reminded me of a flower, which I’ve always found endlessly inspiring.” For all her other efforts, there’s Fine Frenchie, a retail platform inspired by her pet bulldog where shoppers can find limited-edition prints, silk scarves, candles, pillows, stationery, and wallpapers. Regardless of the endeavor, the common thread through them all is Krasavina’s joyful spirit. “I want to inspire people, make them laugh and feel connected [to me],” she says. “That’s why you see so many positive and encouraging messages throughout my merchandise.” As she continues to explore outlets for her artistic energies, Krasavina is certain of one thing: She’s in the right place at the right time. “Miami is definitely very inspiring,” she says. “I love how diverse the city is, mixing all these cultures together. I’m excited to be part of it and its future.”

It’s not by coincidence that The Office, an art platform with brick-and-mortar presence in the Miami Design District, doesn’t follow the traditional gallery model. Its co-creator, Matthew Chevallard, has always been one to do things his way. He made his own rules when, at just 19 years old, he launched Del Toro, a luxury line that reflected his love for statement footwear. And he did things his own way again with the debuts of Blu Scarpa in 2019 and Concetto Limone in 2020, two brands that hint at the fact that his penchant for shoes may border on obsession. Apart from his business endeavors, Chevallard’s personal pursuits and hobbies further reveal a rather inclusive ethos. When asked what his interests are when it comes to art, he’s hesitant to commit to an answer: “That is a loaded question. Contemporary art to be vague, but my focus is centered around Arte Povera and emerging contemporary art in America. I’m just passionate about art in general and buy what I love.” This reverence for free-thinking

and rebellious creativity has served him well at The Office, a forum that adds value to the emerging artists they work with by not representing them, but rather by helping them place their works in collections they otherwise wouldn’t be in. It’s through The Office that he’s scored his latest master stroke, exclusive East Coast representation of a curated selection of Memphis Milano works, a movement started in Italy in 1980 by the architect Ettore Sottsass that achieved iconic status almost instantly and has only remained more appealing ever since. Characterized by a mishmash of styles and irreverent spirit, the pieces are a befitting addition to Chevallard’s oeuvre and fit right in with Miami’s anything-goes attitude. Beyond the Memphis Milano coup, Chevallard’s focus remains on The Office’s goal. “Our mission is to connect emerging artists to our high-valued clients,” he says. “We are providing a service to guide collectors across many backgrounds to help them find their own eye and avoid regrettable acquisitions.” theofficemia.art

The Natural Approach

Back in 2008 when Paloma Teppa revealed her charming Plant the Future terrariums to Miami, minimalism still had its hold on much of the city, but our tastes were beginning to thaw. Teppa helped us along with her approach to biophilia, one marked by succulents, cacti, and other arid specimens planted on soil, gravel, and rocks, and sometimes interspersed with figurines of bunnies, gorillas, and horses. Overnight, or so it seems now, her compositions became the arrangements of choice for tastemakers in the know. It was a genius concept when you think about it: Teppa used her green thumb to ensure those who collected her live installations didn’t need one. As with all great ideas, imitators soon followed, but that Plant the Future essence was impossible to copy. We now see Plant the Future’s evolution on murals all over the country and collaborations with leading brands such as Lladró, but the Wynwoodborn original will always have our heart. plantthefuture.com

The Chill Factor

As the geniuses at Sub-Zero see it, a refrigerator offers a chance for both practicality and panache. Recently reimagined, the 48-inch refrigeration system (in either the Classic Series’ iconic stainless-steel grille or the Designer Series’ “disappearing” version) has been a staple in the kitchens of well-heeled aesthetes for as long as we can remember. But even an icon can use a reinvention. The fresh new features nod to nextgeneration bells and whistles, with innovations that include an intelligent climate system for more effective cooling, a touch control panel to customize settings, stainless-steel accents in the interior, nano-coated glass shelves with spill-containing abilities, LED lighting that illuminates all contents no matter how packed the ice box is, a night mode that adapts to dim environments, a flip-up dairy compartment for taller items, and a NASA-inspired air purification system that scrubs the air of ethylene and odor every 20 minutes. The Urban Pioneer

There can’t be talk of Miami’s bullish real estate market without including Shahab Karmely in the conversation. The founder and CEO of KAR Properties has made it clear he’s here to play in the big leagues after committing more than $300 million into the local market with acquisitions and investments in established and emerging neighborhoods. The crown jewel in his portfolio is One River Point, what Karmely calls a “functional living” residential compound that will rise in the only private gated park in Downtown Miami. The behemoth will encompass two 60-story glass towers with the five-star trappings six-figure real estate demands these days: architecture by Rafael Viñoly, residential amenities by B&B Italia, and Miami’s first floating sky club by Adrian Zecha. When prompted for what makes ORP special, Karmely is succinct and to the point: “We have achieved a new plateau in urban living.” The undertaking is ambitious to say the least, but one Karmely is well-equipped to see through. The man has carved an illustrious career by championing and

executing innovative and inventive real estate concepts throughout Southeast Asia and Europe. He first zoned in on Miami (a city he likens to Singapore in the 1980s) upon hearing about Swire’s plans for Brickell City Centre and then seeing how the mall galvanized Brickell. “Miami is one of the western hemisphere’s most beautiful cities with unparalleled access and infrastructure,” says the developer. “My first espresso of the day, as I take in the sun and air, is when I get to appreciate this beautiful city.” Karmely is betting big on said charms not just with ORP, but also with two additional multi-use towers in ORP’s vicinity and a residential building in Wynwood — not to mention 2000 Ocean, another blue-chip condominium structure across the county line in Hallandale Beach. “Luxury is the art of blending the aspirational with the essential in a harmonious package,” says Karmely. “Our projects aim to bring together the inspirational and the functional into a balanced final project that elevates the living experience.” karproperties.com

When Artefacto launched itself into the American design market with its first Coral Gables showroom in 2002, it did so loudly and without apology. In just a few years, the Brazilian company became synonymous with genuine South American craftsmanship and ingenuity, and it was because of items like the Caixa Bar Pietra, a standout example (from its latest collection) of Artefacto’s organic design approach. Handassembled in the firm’s São Paulo factory, the cabinet brings nature indoors with its solid Brazilian wood frame, Grigio marble handle, and polished steel internal framing. Inside, the piece is equipped with refrigerated drawers and LED lighting to function as a cocktail bar, a coffee counter, or both. Baccarat’s Eye Vase

French designer Nicolas Triboulot considers himself fortunate of being a self-taught artisan, as that lack of formal education allowed him to pursue ideas without preconceived notions or baggage. Said approach served him well at Baccarat, the brand where he began his career and for which he would go on to design more than 200 items. In 1983, Triboulot’s fascination with techniques and technology led to the creation of the Eye Vase, his so-called “ode to light.” Bold and architectural, the piece’s juxtaposition of horizontal and vertical planes allows it to refract like a precious stone for the type of visual effect we’ve come to expect from Baccarat. This shining example of upscale taste and imaginative curiosity has become a mainstay in Baccarat’s inventory since its debut. us.baccarat.com

has garnered fans all over the world, various accolades from the Florida chapter of the AIA, and editorial love from major publications. All this further solidifies Strang’s position as a seasoned professional with a keen understanding of his industry. “I believe that unique designs always result when you approach each project with an open mind and respond to the local site and characteristics, and listen to your clients,” he says. “I am committed to this.” Words to live by — literally. strang.design

It’s safe to say Max Strang was born to design. A childhood spent in a Winter Haven home designed by the late great architect Gene Leedy, one of the leading practitioners of the Sarasota Modern style of architecture, instilled an interest in structure and its ethos from early on. “The house was this amazing assemblage of concrete and glass,” he says. “Those architectural spaces had a powerful impact on me as a young kid.” So powerful, in fact, that the Sarasota Modern principles would become a guiding force in the development of Strang’s aesthetic sensibilities. “The

The façade, the staircase, and the main entrance remain true to the original design, so the rehabilitation of every exterior detail has been planned to enhance its inherent beauty. But most of the mansion can be modified.

Originally designed and built by José de Azpiroz in 1924 and owned by the same family for almost 100 years, the Palacete de Azpiroz represents a rare opportunity to live in a stately historic mansion updated with tailor-made interior modern finishes and state-of-the-art features in the most prestigious neighborhood in Madrid. Situated on a quiet street in the heart of Almagro, the interiors of the $14.25 million, 7,535-square-foot, four-story dwelling is currently being fully refurbished by the architectural studio of Rafael Robledo Arquitectos, while meticulously preserving its legacy.

According to Álvaro González de la Hoz Fernández, managing director at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Madrid, the architects’ objective is to create the most exclusive residential property in the capital. “A purchaser can customize its distribution, so it can be tailored to suit anyone’s needs at whim,” he says. “There is no mansion for sale in Madrid with these characteristics and this opportunity, which makes the property very unique.”

“The future owner can combine an impressive residential area with a spa area, gym, garden, and garage, for example, with an area made up of offices, an art gallery or a showroom dedicated to business,” explains González de la Hoz Fernández. Currently, the updates will incorporate the new advances in home automation and sustainability, while respecting the stately and classic splendor of the Palacete’s past.

MODERN FLAT WITH OLDSCHOOL FLAVOR, LONDON

Designed by British architect Simon Bowden and sitting at the heart of the notable Howard de Walden estate, the newly completed five-story building houses just 54 one- to three-bedroom apartments, offering a rare opportunity to be part of the provenance of aristocratic estates in Central London, notable for the famous names like Charles Dickens, Jimi Hendrix, and Paul McCartney. While the structure’s balustrades reference the classic Victorian mansion block, its white glazed-terracotta cladding is contemporary, and its signature feature — an intricate lantern frieze running along the edge of the terraced penthouses — crown the design with distinction. “We wanted to use technology and engineering to reintroduce old craft into a contemporary production,” says architect Simon Bowden. “The balustrades were produced by a local foundry and reintroduce an architectural aspect that is hundreds of years old.”

All apartments, including the $9.15 million three-bedroom, three-bath 1,873-square-foot unit shown here, revolve around a central courtyard topped with an expansive glass roof that fills the core with daylight, while open sides bring in fresh air. Among its key selling points is its location, says Martin Bikhit, managing director of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices London Kay & Co./Marler & Marler. “Marylebone, in all its understated glory, is the very best of central London living,” Bikhit explains. “It’s a hidden enclave that is a welcome surprise — an unspoiled pocket of London that boasts charming architecture, artisan cafés, and tasteful boutiques.”

In addition to the 10-room, four-bath, red-brick, thatched-roofed main house, highlights of the estate include a guest house, a green house, and an outdoor kitchen plus a pool and sauna surrounded by lush lavender and rose bushes. Terra-cotta paving stones offer a touch of Mediterranean flavor near the charming garden house with an open fireplace outdoors, while a gallery with a wide wooden staircase in the main living room and transom windows along a rounded wall in a second generous living space anchor the home with character. Beautifully appointed with antique furniture (most of which may be purchased), the bedrooms feature traditional chimney ovens. Inlaid parquet wood and precious stone tile floors, mullioned windows, and wooden ceiling beams add character.

Surrounded by a roughly six-foot-high brick wall high, the estate overlooks the adjacent forest and gated paddock, which is accessible from the premises for an easy morning or afternoon horseback ride.

Set amid nearly 3.5 thoughtfully landscaped acres on the Greek isle of Mykonos, this spectacular ultra-modern villa not only offers sweeping vistas of Panormos Bay but also features virtually every amenity a seasoned globetrotter could ask for. “Designed by acclaimed Greek architect Mparmpalias, the home combines the living, entertaining, and artistic ambiance of Mykonos with a perfect amalgamation of Mykonian minimalism and the finest luxurious amenities of the modern world,” says listing agent George Yfantis of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Athens Properties.

“The outdoor highlight is the open-air amphitheater integrated into the landscape and equipped with a bar, provisions for a DJ, and the capacity to host 250-300 people,” says Yfantis. “Additionally, an open-air movie theater provides the ideal place to enjoy a movie under the Mykonian sky.”

A fire-pit lounging area with a circular couch for romantic evenings by the sea, a round petalshaped pool, geothermal and solar energy and water systems, a life-size chess lounge, and a private heliport contribute to the rich mix of amenities of the stunning $25.5 million property.

Dressing your avatar in virtual luxury? Say what? This growing trend in the digital space is gaining momentum. Let’s check out what’s in store for your pixelated doppelgänger.

The real ones will set you back $1,190. So getting them virtually is much more affordable. And while the physical-first fashion industry is still dominating, Miami may soon be running on the digital-first fashion gear. Game on!

And still make heads turn. That’s what happened at this year’s annual event. In June 2022, Metaverse Group, an NFT-based metaverse real estate company, collaborated with Miami Fashion Week to host events in the metaverse, a space called Fashion Street Estate. Outfits, also known as skins, were as fashion-forward as those on display IRL (in real life) at the Frost Science and Nader Museums.

The virtual experience had fashion shows, avatar models, and catwalks. And attendees were able to purchase virtual goods via links with — get this — real money. And a lot of it. Naturally, many luxury brands are hopping into theAvatarLiterally.game.attendees

Not to be outdone, Gucci has joined forces with platforms like Roblox, The Sims, and Genies to create looks for the platforms’ avatars. Have you heard of Gucci Town? If you haven’t, your teen relative has. In May 2022, Gucci Town became the new gathering spot on Roblox. It’s a “virtual piazza” and a “dynamic destination to discover the kaleidoscopic vision of [creative director] Alessandro

Michele, express one’s own individuality, and connect with likeminded individuals from all over the world,” according to the brand’s announcement.InGucciTown, South Floridians will find the Gucci Shop, a boutique where they can purchase limited-edition digital collectibles like archive-inspired Gucci Blondie bags. A bragging right for many — that is, if you can score one. This Roblox-only shop is like a virtual counterpart to a brick-and-mortar store at Aventura Mall.

at Miami Fashion Week might have been dressed in Balenciaga, Gucci, or Giuseppe Zanotti. These luxury brands dominate digital fashion right now. In 2020, Balenciaga used the popular video game “Afterworld: The Age of Tomorrow” to present its Fall 2021 Collection. Last September, it announced a strategic partnership with Fortnite — one of the leading games in the metaverse — to present a collection of digital wearables. It was the first time in Fortnite’s history for this kind of posh alliance.

“The 3D snake that wraps around the shoe’s body symbolizes power and transformation, embodying the spirit of this collaboration,” said Zanotti.

nstead of attending Miami Fashion Week in person, imagine sending your avatar dressed in cutting-edge fashion from the comfort of your computer.

The Balenciaga store in Fortnite looks similar to brand’s flagship in the Design District, and you can shop the clothes virtually in an area called Retail Row. And as the line between virtual and real life continues to blur, Balenciaga designed a limited-edition series of physical products with Fortnite too, available in stores and online. Think hoodies and hats emblazoned with the game’s logo.

For those of you reading this with minds blown, you may not realize that in popular virtual reality games like Second Life, Decentraland, or Animal Crossing, avatars can be identical to our human selves. Our digital twins, if

In fact, Decentraland’s Metaverse Fashion Week took place only a few months before Miami Fashion Week. There, Giuseppe Zanotti officially entered the blockchain ecosystem in partnership with the NFT community DeadFellaz. The designer, in collaboration with hip-hop artist Young Thug, released 1,000 limited digital-only designs of their famed COBRAS sneaker. The lucky players who snagged them can now express their individuality by dressing their avatar in these limited-edition wearable sneakers.

This is only the beginning. Last year, Gucci partnered with Superplastic to start Supergucci. Supergucci is a series of ultralimited NFTs co-created by Michele and Superplastic’s synthetic artists Janky & Guggimon. Limited to 500 hand-numbered pieces, each NFT incorporates house codes found in the Gucci Aria collection. They made $3.5 million off the first drop. It was so successful that they did another three-part virtual product drop together in February.

In Decentraland, a 3D virtual world browser-based platform, people spend real money to buy and sell land, houses and now Avatar wearables. These players load up on the top digital goods with their real-world greenbacks to support what is known as “the ethereum blockchain.”

The Dalmore, with its inimitable stag logo, has just released the latest addition to what it calls the Principal Collection, and even in that rarefied company, the 21-Year-Old is quite a step up. The 1,000-bottle limited edition enjoys an initial maturation in white oak exbourbon barrels, picking up vanilla and honey notes, then finishes its journey in casks which previously held the storied Matusalem oloroso sherry. The result is an extraordinarily silky Highland single malt, with distinct orange and chocolate notes on the nose, and a lengthy exotic finish reminiscent of peaches, pears, ginseng, and marzipan.

In 1830, the MacAskill brothers rowed from Eigg, one of the smallest of the Hebrides islands, to Skye (the largest), and launched Talisker—today the oldest working distillery in that wild and beautiful place. Given the nearly two centuries of history, it’s surprising to learn that the house’s newest single malt, grandly named 44-YearOld: Forests of the Deep, is the most aged the institution has ever released. The name references not only the marine influence on the spirit (it is “sweet, savoury, smoky, and saline,” as the great Glaswegian spirits writer Dave Broom has noted) but also the brand’s partnership with Parley for the Oceans, which is helping preserve one of the world’s largest sea kelp forests near the Cape of Good Hope. Cheers to that.

he basic formula for superb scotch whisky seems simple. Distill barley. Place it in wood vessels. Maybe more than one kind. Walk away. For a long time. Test the results, adjust as necessary, repeat—and, after a hundred years of trying, you’ll likely have enough experience under your belt to really achieve something spirited. Over the summer, for instance, Highland single malt maker Tomatin (more on that brand in a moment) marked its 125th birthday with a limited edition of 50-year-old juice, priced at a whopping $21,500, give or take a dollar or two.

JOHNNIE WALKER / Johnnie Walker King George V was created to celebrate the monarch, who granted the brand its first Royal Warrant in 1934. The makers drew on the archives to hand-select whiskies from distilleries that existed during his reign. This includes some of the rarest in the reserves, including irreplaceable casks from the now-closed Port Ellen distillery. Much like its namesake, it has a great depth of character and elegant reserve. Notewise, abundant spice and dried fruits from Speyside and Highland are perfectly balanced with vanilla, which release layers of sweet fruits, dark chocolate, toffee and roast nuts. Port Ellen gives a coastal smokiness that gathers momentum through the long finish. Expect a slight prickle from alcohol if sniffed too long, but pretty low alcohol profile overall considering its cask strength.

If you can’t get hold of that aforementioned celebratory 50-year-old, salve the sting by seeking out Tomatin’s companion release, the Single Cask - 1993, made from the naturally soft water of the distillery’s Alt-na-Frith burn and personally selected by Master Distiller Graham Eunson. Massive sherry and stewed fruit notes emerge initially, balanced with brooding hints of engine oil and furniture wax. With a bit of time, nuttier flavors follow, and a drying sensation of Assam tea and cocoa lead the finish. At 114 proof, this treasure—aged in the same sort of vessel the founders would have used in 1897—nevertheless provides a dazzlingly smooth journey.

With age comes wisdom, sure. But that’s nothing compared to what a little time does to single malt scotch. Seek out these newly released collectibles.

Worth it? Sure, if you can get hold of it. But truly special occasions can be celebrated for a little less. The three bottles listed below come to mind. All are vanishingly rare; inquire at your top local shop as soon as you can. Time waits for no collector.

Derrick Thomas, founder of Miami Tech Runs, takes crypto to court… the basketball court.

BY LAUREN COMANDER

errick Thomas has always been serious about basketball, recruited from his hometown of Harlem as a teenager to play hoops for a boarding school and then later at Drexel University. He counts NBA players among his friends and former roommates. Still, when he recently found himself playing at the FTX Arena with some 55 like-minded Miamians, he was in awe.

As the closing event to Season One of Miami Tech Runs, the first sports club to exist on a blockchain, Thomas marveled that the group he launched with the help of friends drew the likes of mainstream executives, startup founders, and even NFL players. Members — 80 percent of whom knew nothing about cryptocurrency when they first joined Miami Tech Runs — used tokens to partake in the game while off the court, forged connections, and gained new skills.

“Our mission is simple: to be the ultimate playground in the metaverse at the intersection of sports, crypto, and culture,” Thomas explains. “We come together to play basketball, but we leave better than we came: whether that’s a new relationship or one that has fostered deeper, a better understanding of fitness and mental health, or a better understanding of a topic we talked about on the sidelines.”

The idea for Miami Tech Runs was a long time coming for Thomas, who created an App in college to connect collegiate athletes with qualified agents after being unimpressed with the ones he encountered while trying to further his own sports career. Because of NCAA rules, Thomas, a communications and mass media major, wasn’t allowed to monetize the App.

He moved to Florida and worked as one of Tesla’s top producers before joining a private equity fund in 2017, where he learned about cryptocurrency. After the 2018 crash, Thomas doubled down and began investing in crypto. “I tried version 2.0 of what I did in college,” Thomas says. “I connected athletes to managers and housed their contracts on the blockchain. But because of COVID, players didn’t care about connecting to the right agents anymore. They wanted to connect to people to create economic opportunities for themselves. I thought, ‘What if we could wrap a token around things we are already active and familiar with?’”

Enter Miami Tech Runs, which brings members together twice a month to play basketball, drones flying overhead to capture footage. But it doesn’t stop with sports: they have token-gated dinner meetings and an active chat group that sees high-level executives interacting six hours a month.

The game at FTX Arena spurred people in 10 cities to reach out about starting their own DAO. LA Tech Runs launched with 60 members. “It took off!” says Thomas, 31 and father of two young boys. “We can see a world where Miami Tech Runs is the ultimate playground where people come together for sports and learn about crypto. The future is bright!”

With a waitlist in the hundreds and interest exploding, Thomas is confident the Magic City is the ideal locale for Miami Tech Runs to meet its goals. “We have great political governance that is very pro blockchain and crypto currency,” Thomas says. “We have a great climate and a really good quality of life, and the people here are very inclusive in a diverse way.”

Ferrari goes hand in hand with Miami pop culture. The red and yellow are synonymous with the Italian racing cars, as well as the Ferrari Testarossas that cruised the Magic City during the “Miami Vice” era. Secondly, the images are filled with neon lights and pay major homage to the nostalgia of those characters’ halcyon days.

Capponi will tell you that global problems were not always his top priority. At the age of 21, he was a Miami nightlife impresario turning that experience into a successful stint as a high-end home developer. The side effect of his success was a drug habit that led him onto the NY streets during a particularly brutal winter. Two decades ago, he got clean and, in gratitude, turned his efforts towards GEM.

A one-time Miami nightlife guru and a real estate developer, Michael Capponi has become an unlikely face of global altruism.

KACZANOWSKI,MACIEJ WSCHODNIDZIENNIK

To say that Capponi is proverbially miles away from the buzzy Miami scene he helped create (Privé, B.E.D., and Mansion come to mind) would be a huge understatement. These days, the multi-hyphenate has become a major good doer as the founding CEO of Global Empowerment Mission (GEM), a nonprofit organization based in Miami that, despite its compact footprint, has delivered two decades’ worth of enormous impact on nearly every disaster event known to mankind. Capponi has been to Haiti nearly 100 times. He in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina hit and in Surfside when the Champlain Tower collapsed. When Russia invaded Ukraine, he was one of the first humanitarian representatives on the Polish border handing out care

packages. And he does not mince words about the relative efficacy of GEM’s hands-on, direct-aid approach.

“Sometimes I feel like the pot as a whole is much greater than what will actually be given to the people,” he says. “For Surfside, we only raised a million and a half dollars. But we put every single survivor in a new apartment. (We) paid first and last months’ rent plus security deposits. For some people, we paid an entire year’s rent. We gave every single survivor thousands of dollars on a Visa card and new home goods. What happens in many disasters is a number (of aid) is raised as a whole, and it goes in so many different pots that it gets diluted. Because every single pot has its own overhead. We’re disrupting the system, in a way. Our only goal is to get the most amount of aid in the shortest amount of time for the least amount of money to the most amount of people. It’s really all that we care about.”

the good hunter

peaking from a hotel room somewhere in Kyiv, Ukraine, Michael Capponi dismisses inquiries about his safety and focuses instead on overcoming the main threat to his ongoing humanitarian efforts in the war-raged country. “Bureaucracy doesn’t exist for me,” he says. “I don’t even pay attention to it. I just cut right through.” Earlier that week, for instance, he had met with a regional governor, who reports directly to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. “This is very different from the typical paperwork channel. You come to the table and say, ‘This is what we’re willing to do, and this is what we need from you. We need your security. We need access to be able to repair this particular school. We don’t want to deal with the Ministry of Work. We don’t want to deal with the Ministry of Education. It’s too complicated. If you want the school repaired and you want kids back in school for September, give us the keys, sign the Memo of Understanding, and you’ll see, right?’ Then you call Home Depot, you get some materials, you hire local labor, and that’s it.”

BY DAVID ZIVAN

“I tried to have a double life for a very long time,” he says. “And, eventually, I started understanding that wasn’t my destiny anymore. It was in my destiny to apply the skills from all the previous cycles — and put everything into GEM.”

When an innovative Swiss watch maker set out to pay homage to an ancient civilization, it delivered big on a timeless treasure.

In its signature fashion, Urwerk time display appears magically from under the dome cover. Once the 60th minute passes, the minute’s indicator disappears. Instead of just rotating around a central axis, the display reappears on the side of the case, but this time as a kilometer counter. This measures the kilometers covered every 20 minutes by those located in Mexico as well as the planetary rotation computed in Mexico City. On the other side of the case, another indicator shows the earth’s revolution around the sun every 20 minutes, offering three measures of time, all based on the movement of our planet. These indicators pay homage to the Sun Stone’s unique 20-day calendar system.

Case in point: the new UR100V, aka the first watch from Urwerk’s new Time and Culture Line. And it’s crazy stuff, indeed. As the name implies, the watch takes inspiration from the expression of time as envisioned by various cultures. In this case, the muse is Aztec Empire and its Sun Stone. The Sun Stone, carved in the late 15th century, was lost and buried, presumably by the Spanish conquistadors, only to be rediscovered in 18th century Mexico. It is now proudly displayed in the National Anthropology Museum in Mexico City. The vestige is a carved representation of the Aztec calendar that interestingly conisists of 18 months, 20 days and five nemontemi (none days). Though the Aztecs did not account for leap years, their calendar system was impressive nonetheless. To echo that ingenuity, the Sun Stone was reinterpreted by Urwerk in a most innovative way.

The UR-100V is presented in an antique copper finish. The Sun Stone is carved onto its alloy dome that covers the movement. The intricate carving requires a magnifying glass for true appreciation, but it’s a bit of a puzzle, too. Hidden in plain sight is a signature; an acronym and Mayan numbering offered to be deciphered. Urwerk’s Time and Culture time is a real treasure hunt, indeed.

“Every company should have a laboratory where it’s doing the crazy stuff,” says Martin Frei, the chief designer and co-founder of Urwerk, one of the most innovative and design-forward watch companies in Switzerland.

As he does with every project, Deniot dug into the history of the environs and explored the architectural context before honing his ideas for a spirit of “understated theatricality” in the structure’s common areas, including three levels of amenities. “I read books by Morris Lapidus, watched the 1964 film Soy Cuba, and referenced the glamour of the 1930s and ‘40s to reflect the style, glamour, and pure oxygen of Miami.” Two Roads also enlisted Deniot to take on the interiors of the 24-story Forté on Flagler, its newest South Florida condominium project currently underway in West Palm Beach. “I love contextual exercises, design must fit its setting,” says Deniot, who, in this property, blended highly crafted custom-furnishings and some grand modern gestures with a pared-down palette and a few classic Palm Beach motifs to create a fresh take on the more tradition-inflected vibe that characterizes Miami’s neighbor to the north.

While context is invariably key to Deniot’s work, his work is also always infused with a French twist. “My taste is international, but my eye is French,” says the designer. “Everything I do reflects a sense of French editing. Yet there’s always a way for a French translation to feel contextual.” Of course, his projects also brim with the worldly flair that springs from his farflung travels, which is underscored in a new monograph of his work called Destinations Published by Rizzoli and showcasing a collection of his finest projects around the globe, the book is slated for release this fall.

So, why did Mercedes-Maybach present the collections after Abloh’s unexpected passing? The legendary car maker revealed they were following the wishes of Abloh’s family. “The installation is an homage to a trusted partner and collaborator,” says Steindl. In April, the inspiration of the concept car was reimagined into a more commercial vehicle facilitating Abloh’s posthumous vision to come to life. Mercedes–Maybach unveiled the limited-edition cars now available globally. The bespoke automobile is a two-toned mix of sand and obsidian black on a Mercedes-Maybach S-Class S 680 designed in partnership with Mercedes-Benz Group AG Chief Design Officer Gorden Wagener.

For those who appreciate dreamy accouterments, owners receive a custom-made wooden box in tan Nappa leather with the Mercedes-Maybach and Virgil Abloh logo. Inside the box are two car keys and a replica of the limited-edition car at 1/8th scale. Another bonus: a special car cover with the Mercedes-Maybach and Virgil Abloh logo. Covering all bases is yet another reason why this collaboration is in a league of its own.

It all started with a beloved fashion designer’s vision. “We wanted to display Virgil Abloh’s work in the manner that was originally planned with him [at the helm]: an immersive experience that celebrated the creativity of Miami during Design Week,” says Anja Steindl, manager of global brand communications at Mercedes-Maybach.

Four-seat configuration, steering wheel, doors, lower dashboard and ceiling are lined in black- and sand-colored Nappa leather

This intention culminated last December, when Mercedes-Maybach unveiled its limitededition bespoke S-Class. Incredulously, the designer had died only a month before. It was their third collaboration, and the unique, off-roading concept car was known as Project Maybach. The car was revealed at Art Basel during a time when the city was bursting with the ultimate creativity; something Abloh felt was paramount for its debut.

How many years have you been a Realtor? Almost 20 years.

What sets you apart from other Realtors? I graduated from FIU with a degree in Accounting and a Masters in Taxation. Before becoming a Realtor I worked as an accountant so that knowledge and getting my clients top dollar is what sets me apart from the rest.

At only 21 years old, Toni Breidinger made history by becoming the first Arab-American female to participate in any NASCAR series, and she doesn’t intend on being the last. What started out as an infatuation with go-carts at 9 years old quickly became her purpose, and her passion for the sport is evident. Breidinger is the only woman with 19 United States Autoclub wins, inspiring young women across the globe, while proving that at 22 years old she’s a force to be reckoned with. Keep an eye out for this stunner with Venturini Motorsports as the 2022 ARCA Menards Series wraps up this October.

My pre-race ritual consists of finding moments of quiet to get myself prepared mentally. / My most memorable race to date has been my Daytona International Speedway debut. / When I’m not racing I love hiking and grabbing lunch with friends. I’m usually just chilling. / A TV show I’m really into right now is Euphoria. / The best song to blast in my car is Tia Tamera by Doja Cat. / If I wasn’t doing what I’m doing, I’d love to be able to help other women break into sports and get the support they need. / My go-to Slurpee flavor is definitely the blue raspberry. / The tracks I’m looking forward to racing are Formula 1 tracks. Getting on those tracks would be a dream come true. / My biggest inspiration is my mom. I can always look to her for guidance when I need it. / The thing I miss the most about California is the surfing! / My secret to keeping my makeup intact while racing is A REALLY good setting spray. / My night routine includes taking care of my face with gentle products for sensitive skin. It’s really important to show some love to my face after it’s been in a helmet all day! / My comfort meal is sushi. It’s one of my all-time favorite meals! / One place I’d love to visit is Beirut or Dubai. / The character I usually play in Mario Cart is Toadette. She’d do so well in NASCAR. / Instagram or Twitter? Instagram for sure! / One fashion or beauty trend I will not be participating in is the skinny 90’s eyebrows trend. / Once the season is over, I plan on immediately starting training for 2023. The off-season is the best time to start prepping for the next year. / One word to describe how I’m feeling this season is determined. / I want to be remembered for inspiring other girls and women to confidently go after their dreams in the sport they love.
