Young Philanthropist Hudson Supports Local Animal Shelter THROUGH

RECYCLING INITIATIVE

Hudson has embarked on an inspiring mission to make a difference in his community. By recycling cans, Hudson aims to raise money for The Haven.

Hudson’s decision to support The Haven was influenced by his family’s shared love for pets and their desire to contribute to a local agency.

“We love dogs and cats and wanted to support a local agency. We loved the fact that it was a no-kill shelter, so it was an easy decision to support such a great organization,” Hudson’s family shared.

The Haven holds a special place in their hearts, especially since they recently fostered and adopted a kitten from the shelter. Their home is now joyfully bustling with three cats: Cho, Jasper, and Pearl. Their furry family also includes two dogs: Summit and Rocky.

Hudson’s initiative sets a remarkable example of how even small actions can lead to significant impacts.

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT

Susan plays a crucial role at The Haven, contributing to a majority of duties that keep our shelter running smoothly. Her most vital contribution is serving as a Haven Animal Transporter. In this role, Susan takes animals to and from the vet on a regular basis.

Given that The Haven sends animals for spays, neuters, vaccines, and medical checkups almost daily, the impact of this position is tremendous.

Susan’s dedication not only ensures that our animals receive timely medical care but also allows our Adoption Coordinators to focus on other vital, life-saving tasks. Her efforts help streamline operations and improve the overall efficiency of our shelter.

Thank you, Susan, for your unwavering commitment to The Haven. Your contribution is invaluable, and we are incredibly grateful for everything you do!

Happy TAILS

Pip Sque

Pip Sque, a resilient 2-month-old orange tabby was abandoned with his siblings at The Haven. Pip Sque faced a tough start with an infected eye that couldn’t be saved. The Haven’s caring team had the eye removed to ensure his health and happiness. Despite his early challenges, Pip Sque’s playful spirit and sweet nature shone through. We’re thrilled to share that Pip Sque has recently found his forever home, where he’s now thriving and cherished.

Once known as Popeye, Carl, the one-eyed dog, overcame his deep-seated trust issues with people while at The Haven, with rehabilitation, love and compassion. Carl was adopted into his loving forever home, and now, he knows no strangers. Carl’s resilience is a testament to the transformative power of patience and love.

Celebrate National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week WITH THE HAVEN

Every year, communities across the country celebrate

National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week during the first full week of November. This special week is dedicated to honoring animal shelters and the passionate individuals who work tirelessly to protect and care for animals.

“Shelters like The Haven are vital to our communities, providing safe havens for animals and excellent places to adopt new pets,” said Brooke Butler, President of The Haven’s Board of Directors. “They offer critical services such as investigating cruelty, reuniting lost pets with their families, educating children about animal care, and providing spay/neuter services to reduce pet overpopulation.”

With approximately 3,500 shelters across the U.S. serving 6–8 million homeless animals annually, only about half of these animals find homes. Despite 63% of American households having pets, fewer than 20% of these pets are adopted from shelters.

National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week is the perfect time to show your support for local shelters. Here are a few ways you can get involved:

• Adopt Your Next Pet: Give a homeless animal a loving home.

• Follow and Like The Haven on Facebook: Stay updated and spread the word.

• Foster a Haven Homeless Pet: Provide a temporary home and help a pet in need.

• Donate Supplies: We are in need of dry cat/ kitten food.

• Donate to The Haven: Make a donation in honor of a Haven staff member or volunteer.
