DIGITAL SIGHT & SOUND:
THE REAL HOME THEATER is Making a Comeback!
Over the last decade, homeowners have been moving away from building a dedicated home theatre and instead have opted to create a large open space that incorporates high-quality surround sound & comfy couch seating that can be enjoyed by a large group of people. It seemed ideal because if people wanted cozy, they stayed in and if they were in the mood for a dark theatre experience, they could just head to their local cinema. When COVID-19 hit last spring, however, that was no longer an option as theatres shuttered. Over time, folks began to miss the movie-going experience.
“It’s such a great family event, going to the theatre, and they were closed for so long that clients began to contact us saying, ‘Hey, we want to turn our finished storage space into a real home theatre,’” says Ray Rice, owner of Digital

According to Rice, the most recent product they have been installing is the Dolby Atmos, the latest system for providing a true home theatre experience. Options vary, of course, depending on the size of the room.
“Some people take a basement spare bedroom and convert it into an intimate theatre that can seat four,” says Rice, noting that more and more people are getting away from having an entertainment or great room where the surround is off to the side. “They want a separate room that can be totally dark for an immersive home theater.”
