Marine Mega Yacht Watch perfect for the ideal yacht owner BY LAUREN CORNMAN

Ulysses Nardin has released his most exclusive collection of watches yet and they’re crafted perfectly for the ideal yacht owner. At the most recent Miami Boat Show, which took place on February 14–18, Ulysses Nardin’s CEO, Patrick Pruniax, unveiled the timepiece line titled the “Marine Mega Yacht Watch.” The collection was intentionally held back from SIHH ( Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie Genève), the year’s biggest event for fine watchmaking until it premiered in Miami. This costly marine-style watch is offered at a whopping $310,000 and comes with a series of marvelous details, fit for someone who loves to spend time on their ship. Forbes reports that “the UN-631 caliber has 504 components: one-minute flying tourbillon at 6:00 on the dial with propeller motif, moon phase indication, tidal indication, ad coefficients, and power reserve system with 80 hours of reserve.” Other aspects include three-dimensional movement similar to that of a ship’s engines and reconfigured tidal indications (for a location that the owner sets once they have they acquire the piece). More specifically, the luxurious timepiece has a diameter of 37mm, features 504 components, and is wound by hand. The watch also comes with a 3-D represens the moon’s surface, with one half of the sphere in blue PVD for the period of the new moon and the other “rhodomized to simulate the illuminating effects of the sun,” as stated in press materials.

Other mind-blowing features include a contemporary anchor linked to the chain by an anchor ring and a tide indicator at 8 o’clock which displays tides in real time. The authentic flagship has been specializing in exclusive watches for sailors since 1846. For this particular series, only 30 pieces will be crafted globally. Ulysses Nardin employed top watchmakers as well as the small independent manufacturer, Cristophe Claret to create each piece. Ulysse Nardin representatives emphasize that “watchmaking is above all an art form” and that this collection is “a perfect allegory of a voyage by sea and epitomizes the contemporary spirit of nautical luxury.”

LA Housing Market Report

In the aftermath of the wildfires of 2018, houses for sale in Los Angeles are in short supply while developers are trying to keep pace.

Last summer, the LA forecast was positive for sellers with very high demand. At that time, the average price of a home was $690,000. However, the level of affordability is lessening as only 30% of L.A. County residents own a home, as reported by Gord Collins. As many analysts have also pointed out, examining only the percentage of income spent on housing can be skewed since high-income earners can afford to spend a larger share of their salaries on housing. Reports indicate that residents are concerned about a housing bubble as an effect of the evergrowing sales prices.

“It’s the markets that experience more äŰŖÙäŅÁĢÚä őĂÁő ūĆěě őĂäĢ Ùä őĂä ƇŅʼnő őĩ ʼněĩū down,” comments Skylar Olsen, Zillow’s director of economic research and outlook.

Essentially, a housing bubble is credit-fueled and composed of two phases. At first, the price of homes rise dramatically and are then followed by a steep decrease. The situation is even more apparent in L.A.’s luxury market, which Douglas Elliman defines as the top ten percent of all of its listings. Fewer high-end homes were sold in January, which ultimately further deflated the region’s median price, according to CoreLogic analyst Andrew LePage.

Olsen continued by saying, “It’s the markets that experience more exuberance that will then be the first to slow down. We think a big part of it is basically demand exhaustion, people can’t just outbid each other anymore.” The average price of a typical LA home transitioned from $512,000 to $500,000 even. Gord Collins reports that home sales declined 8.3% but emphasize that real estate market experts believe that the housing market will flatten rather than tank.

LePage continued by saying that buyers will become more enthusiastic as long as mortgage interest rates remain at relatively low levels. When examining which neighborhoods were most affected, Malibu stands as one of several L.A. neighborhoods that showed signs of dramatic declines. The Real Deal reports that sales dropped from 39 percent to 25 homes, while inventory rose 73 percent to 26 homes.

Top four Design Trends for April

70s Scandinavian The 1970s are back in a big way. The 70’s Scandinavian design trend is a simplified look with simple lines and a vibrant color palette. Elements of the design include an earthy color palette, geometric patterns, and natural materials. So much of Scandinavian design is embedded in minimal shapes, clean lines, and mid-century designs.

Mustard Hue Although spring is the season of floral prints and pastels, recent trends have shown mustard to be a unique color that can be incorporated throughout your home in different ways. Rather than including mustard in small pops of color, homeowners are investing in larger statement pieces to tie a room together. Mustard can work as a complement to several colors like millennial pink, indigo blue, and of course, bright white. If your all-white living room needs warmth, consider adding a velvet mustard footstool or hanging a large art print with mustard-hues, to make the room feel sunnier and not as stark white.

Terrazzo While on the topic of the ’70s, Terrazzo, a material that was once wildly popular during this decade, is on an upward trend. Especially in recent months, Terrazzo has been popping up on high-end surfaces on the pages of glossy interior design magazines. This simple and subtly colorful design can be used in floor tiles, tables, lampshades, and even printed wallpaper.

Artisanal Fixtures Going into the warmer months, there’s been a noticeable shift in more decorators choosing lighting fixtures from local artists and small businesses rather than standard lighting fixtures from bigger brandname companies. One material for lighting fixtures that are particularly trending is brass. Brass is a subtle and warm alternative to harsher steel accents that were trending a few years ago. If your kitchen is feeling bare and uninspiring, consider swapping out your plain overhead light fixture for one that’s industrial and artisanal design. Lighting also has the ability to function as the centerpiece of a room and works to draw in the viewer’s eye.

June Quan is taking L.A. by storm. Her blog, Stir and Style (IG @stirandstyle), has amassed a number of followers on Instagram while her restaurants Sip Matcha, Shrimp Daddy, and Chichi Dango are serving some of the tastiest culinary dishes. We caught up with June to get the inside scoop on L.A. and how her love ĩù őŅäĢàʼn ĂÁʼn ĆĢƉŖäĢÚäà ĂäŅ ūĩŅė ĆĢ real estate.

What are some of the neighborhoods you’ve noticed experiencing more buyer demand and what do you think are the forces creating that? Eagle Rock has been on my radar. You can get more space and newer remodels for a lower price. For young families it’s a great place to settle down as the streets and neighborhoods are quiet and there are highly rated schools in the area.

Whether it be due to the listing price or unique circumstances, what is your most significant sale as of late? One of my favorite and more rewarding sales was finding a home for one of Dan’s personal training clients! Dan and I have also started our own search and are enjoying the process from a different perspective.

Not only are you a realtor in the L.A. area but also an owner of several restaurants (Sip/Shrimp Daddy/ Chichi Dango), how do you find the time to balance your schedule? Time management is so important to keep my life in order and to perform at my peak. I think it’s so important to keep balance in my life. For example, my husband and I work together on the restaurants and he is also a personal trainer, so it’s part of our lifestyle to stay active and ensure that we make time in our busy schedules to keep our bodies healthy.

What are some ways you bring your amazing sense of style into the real estate sector? Each sale and each client is so unique that I think instead of focusing on what my sense of style is, I always focus on understanding my client’s style and what they are looking for to best serve their needs.

Your blog has amassed a number of followers, what inspired you to get into style and food trends? I’ve always loved food for as long as I can remember. There are videos of me eating noodles in my high chair using baby chopsticks. Even as an attorney and real estate agent, I’ve always envisioned a career focused around food.

For someone trying Sip Matcha for the first time what would be a must-try combo on the menu? For someone trying Sip Matcha for the first time, I want to first share that we source our matcha from Japan from a 100 year old farm and vet the farms ourselves every year (we are heading out there in May for harvest season). When you drink our matcha, you are ingesting pure stone ground matcha leaves packed with loads of antioxidants, vitamins, and L-Theanine which helps you absorb the caffeine at a gradual rate so you don’t get the jitters or the crash. It’s my favorite superfood! A great introductory combo to Sip Matcha is our Aloe Matcha (so many people who try matcha for the first time loves this one) and a salmon Onimatcha (our twist on a rice ball made with matcha rice).
