Thousands and thousands of music lovers converging on an outdoor setting to enjoy live music from some of the biggest musical superstars on the planet is an unmatched experience. Music festivals were one of the many things that the COVID-19 pandemic hit hard, with 2020 and 2021 mostly functioning as huge down years in the industry. However, in 2022, that is set to change.

2022 will see two of the biggest music festivals in America return to Southern California, with Stagecoach and Coachella returning to the Empire Polo Club, only 20 miles from Palm Springs. After a two-year hiatus, these events are making their comebacks in April, and they promise to be a spectacle for the ages. Let’s take a look at what both festivals provide.

Stagecoach 2022 Stagecoach is one of America’s biggest and best-known country music festivals. It is a huge showcase of some of the top talents in the industry with a stacked lineup of country performers. This year, Stagecoach is taking place from April 29th to May 1st, with three days and nights of epic shows that country and folk lovers will adore. Stagecoach is set on the grounds of the Empire Polo Club, a vast expanse of open land that encompasses over 78-acres and also plays host to Coachella. Stagecoach is a music festival, first and foremost, but there will be numerous other great attractions at this event. There are many great food and drink spots, including Guy Fieri’s Stagecoach Smokehouse. There will also be top-notch country-style shopping at Nikki Lane’s Stage Stop Marketplace. The Honkytonk Dance Hall is a great area for those who love partaking in a classic hoedown with line dancing, round dancing, and more. The musical lineup this year features many big names that country music lovers are going to recognize. This year, the three headliners are Thomas Rhett, the famed Georgian pop-country singer, Carrie Underwood, the international country icon, and Luke Combs, the North Carolinian singer and songwriter. There are also numerous other big names on the lineup, like the Black Crowes, Brothers Osborne, and Midland. Stagecoach is a popular event for those looking to camp out, enjoy incredible food, and listen to their favorite country performers. Numerous lots can be rented out for campsites, including the famed safari campgrounds, which provide a more glamorous camping experience. It is a wild festival that has something for everyone and is one of the most significant weekends of the year for country lovers.

Coachella 2022 Coachella might be the best-known music festival globally, and for a good reason. It is a massive event that takes place over two weekends, often having the most jaw-dropping lineup of musical talent of any festival

in the world. Big names in every genre will be making appearances, from pop star icons to rap legends and electronic dance music producers. This event draws in a glamorous crowd filled with celebrities, influencers, and music lovers of all kinds. This year, Coachella will start on April 15th-17th for the first weekend and continue from April 22nd-24th for the second weekend. Coachella takes place at the Empire Polo Club and typically draws in over 225,000 attendees across its two weekends. Coachella is a truly gigantic event in scale and has something for everyone. It has an extensive food scene that will delight foodies, with the Indio Central Market featuring over 15 restaurants from across the country. There is a wide range of activities, from games and giveaways to a Ferris wheel and recreational sports, as well as topnotch shopping. How’d you get started in the food social media industry? For as long as I can remember I was what I would call a “natural foodie” and always loved sharing a good meal with people. It was all very random and unplanned for me getting into the social media side of food. I had been in LA for maybe a year and a half when I met a friend who is apart of the “LA lifestyle” as I call it. She saw I posted a lot of food pictures on my instagram and suggested I create an account just for that. To be honest, at the time, I didn’t really even know it was such a thing to do, but here we are 4 years later and it is most definitely a thing.

Do you have a particular type of cuisine that is your favorite? This is a question I get a lot and its always a tough one for me. I always ultimately give the same answer. To be honest, I don’t really have “favorites” of anything; food, movies, music, etc. I can never really pick what my ultimate “favorite” would be but more so go on my mood. When I’m forced to give an answer I ultimately pick Italian, as that is the cuisine I grew up eating and will always love dearly!

What changes have you noted in the Los Angeles restaurant industry since the pandemic began? Since the pandemic, many restaurants had to start thinking outside of the box to keep going. Many created new to-go concepts and at home meal kits to continue serving the community. Others even created mini-markets with fresh produce, meats, and different things for purchase.

What is your favorite thing to cook at home? My favorite thing to cook at home would probably be my grandmas meatballs. I always loved making them with her growing up and each time I do it it makes me feel like I’m home with my family again!

What do you think sets Los Angeles apart as a food city? The main thing I think that sets Los Angeles apart from

others as a “food city” would be how the city has not only outstanding fine dining restaurants but also so many delicious street food vendors and mom and pop shops.

What restaurants in Los Angeles do you think are musts for those visiting the city? This is always very tough for me. I think there are so many components that factor into what are “musts” for one person then another. For example, some “foodies” will say Catch is over hyped where others, including myself, love it and would definitely recommend it. I also think LA has so many great foods that aren’t at typical “restaurants” that visitors should definitely try to check out, with Low Key Burritos being one of my favorites.

Outside of Los Angeles, have you been to any other cities that have wowed you with their food? Luckily for me I have been fortunate enough to travel to many different cities with incredible food! One of the places I love that I got to recently re-visit was the island of Oahu. I love how, like LA, they have outstanding fine-dining restaurants like Hy’s steak house, but also absolutely amazing local spots like Rainbow drive-in where I could literally eat a loco moco plate for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

What is your all-time favorite dish? Back to my earlier all time favorite cuisine response, it is even harder for me to pick an all time favorite dish, but it would definitely be something with multiple different components. This changes on a daily basis, but if I needed to say my absolute best meal at this moment it would start with a spicy tan rimmed margarita and a seafood tower, followed by a pasta course – lets say pappardelle with a pink sauce, and then a tomahawk steak with creamed spinach that has crispy onions on top. Of course, creme brûlée for dessert to top it all off!

How has being a food influencer changed your relationship with Los Angeles? Being a food influencer has definitely helped get myself out there more and explore different parts of the city. I love being able to explore the city and all of the different foods it has to offer.

How did you first start to build a following on Instagram? My Instagram journey has been quite a ride, but I really started to get noticed when I moved to Los Angeles. At the time, I was just sharing my day to day adventures at local coffee shops and meeting up with other creative people to take colorful photos. Quickly, Instagram noticed me and started sharing me on their main page and added me to their suggested users list! I was so excited. From there, my audience has just grown organically.

What drove you to move from Kansas to Los Angeles? I was at a place in my life where I was feeling stuck creatively. I had been working in ad agencies in Kansas City since graduating college and was really wanting to do more than just be at my desk. LA seemed like the perfect place to escape to and take a chance with freelance! It was the best decision I’ve ever made.

How do your skills as a graphic designer and photographer overlap? As creative beings we are always evolving and I think we go through many stages in our careers. Graphic design was my very first passion but when I moved to Los Angeles I just wanted to get out and away from the screen, feel the earth with my hands and live through my lens. What’s been great is how you can have multiple paths as an artist! While I love my adventures with photography, I also love coming home to edit and design around what I captured with my camera.

What projects have you worked on in the past that you are most proud of? There have been a few times in my career where companies I’ve been inspired by have reached out to work with me, which is always a nice feeling: To know that they appreciate my work like I do theirs! Currently, I’m working with Apple on a project to spotlight their products I use every day as a photographer and I’m really proud of how it’s turning out. It’s always exciting to work on something you fully believe in.

How does a brand collaboration typically work for you? What guides you along that process? One of the most exciting things for me is that initial contact with a new brand and the relationship that follows. Often times, when a company reaches out to work with me, they are already familiar with my photography and because of that are very trusting to let me run free creatively, which is always the dream! From there, I try to really put myself in the shoes of their audience and ask myself what I think they’d like to see, which always really helps guide me. Plus, it’s a fun challenge!

Do you have a spot in Los Angeles that is your favorite for photography? While my style has evolved over the years, I’ll forever have the greatest memories of my shoots at all of LA’s colorful walls. While it’s hard to believe now, there was a time when the pink wall on Melrose wasn’t well known and I look back on photos I took there and smile.

You’ve worked with brands from Chevy, Michael Kors to Airbnb and Mercedes. Do you have a collaboration that stood out to you as the most exciting? The one collaboration that jumps out to me instantly is my work with Disney and Pixar. They brought me in to help with the initial release of ‘Inside Out’ and ‘The Good Dinosaur’ and it was a very special experience. That first time I stepped into the Pixar Animation Studios outside of San Francisco I had to pinch myself – I was surrounded by some of the most creative people in the world!

You have a very colorful Instagram page. How do you make the colors pop in your design and photography? Color is the heart and soul of everything I do, and to a degree I’m obsessive about how color works together in my Instagram grid. One of my goals is to try to find subtle ways to connect things even if no one else will notice. Visually we are very drawn to color and I think it’s always a great way to get people to stop and connect with your content.

What travel tips would you give someone visiting Los Angeles for the first time? Los Angeles is an incredibly diverse and inspiring city – there is an energy here that I really have’t felt anywhere else. Often when people come for the first time, they want to see what they know from TV and the movies, which can of course be lots of fun, but there is so much more! I would highly recommend our museums, from the new Academy Museum in West Hollywood to the Getty Villa in Malibu. We have such an appreciation in LA for the arts of all kinds. I’d also recommend asking locals at your morning coffee shop for their favorite spots to eat – it’s always the secret neighborhood spots that have the best food. And don’t forget your camera!

What advice would you give to someone looking to follow in your career footsteps? Never let rejection or being told “no” make you feel like you’re on the wrong path. Keep pushing through! If you wake up every morning excited for what you do, you will get to where you want to be so embrace it. Also – collaborate! Reach out to people that inspire you and ask questions or ask for advice. It’s flattering and you’ll typically find that people love to help one another. Even though social media has changed in the past years, at the core is still our need to connect with one another and that’s a beautiful thing.
