Download the mobile app and you will have access to tours, art and more. Thedali.org

LET THE KIDS CREATE!

Learn how to make hundreds of unique crafts like Kool-Aid playdough, sidewalk puffy paint, “pet” cactus, spring treat recipes, games, variations of slime and more. They offer free, printable chore charts and also offer a free weekly newsletter delivered to your email. Thebestideasforkids.com

FREE COLORING SHEETS

Lakeland’s favorite commercial illustrator & artist Bump Galletta is offering a collection of free coloring pages. Visit bumpgalletta.com, click shop, click the tab for coloring sheets, choose as many as you’d like and print. He has multiple selections for both kids and adults. How many can you do? After you’re done, frame them and give them as gifts or hang them somewhere special.

HAVE A FASHION SHOOT

Do you have kids that love to dress up? Set up your own photo studio complete with backdrop (an old sheet or blanket will work) and special lighting like fairy lights. Encourage your kids to create outfits like being “totally glam” or just plain silly. Take it one step further and get the photos printed and create a fashion magazine. Let them describe the inspirations behind their outfits and print it out.

HOST THE SUMMER OLYMPICS

Create a series of competitions and then award gold, silver and bronze medals. Ideas can be simple like how many times can you jump rope without messing up or how many steps can you take while balancing something on your head before it falls. Your imagination is the limit, use what you’ve already got! Dedicate one day to the games and include an opening and closing ceremony if possible.

START A GARDEN

Begin with seeds or starter plants from the garden store. Some easy and fast-growing seeds include marigolds, green beans or radishes. Section off a small portion of the yard or use a large pot to create your garden space. Kids can create little signs to indicate each variety. Have them check everyday to make sure the plants have enough water. Take it one step further and they can keep a journal of the garden’s growth.

MYSTERY SCAVENGER HUNT

Let the kids “accidently” find the first clue and let the adventure begin. Create harder clues for the older kids and easier ones for the littles. You can end the hunt with a “treasure” chest of snacks or prizes of whatever they love. This activity takes a day to plan, so prep ahead and hide the clues and treasure after they go to bed. You can theme the hunts as if a pirate or mermaid snuck in and left the clues.

SEND LOVE

Write a letter, make a card or have the kids draw a picture and send it to someone you know that’s quarantined home alone. Phone calls and FaceTime are great, but there’s something pretty lovely about receiving something that was made just for you with love. Use apps like Postagram and create a card with your social media pics and let them do the mailing for you.

DRUNK PIRATE

This is an online drinking game that can be played with 2 people, however it’s more fun with a crowd. Visit drunkpirate.co.uk and get started. Flip cards to find small physical challenges, personal questions to answer and directions on when to take a drink. This game is for 21+ please don’t drink and drive.
