Has elected a new Management Committee The UHE (Ulusal Havuz Enstitüsü) - the Swimming Pool Professionals Association in Turkey - was founded on 20 April 1995. Its mission is, among others, to protect the swimming pool sector and environment against environmental pollution and the increasing tourism sector’s effects. As a representation of all swimming pool professionals, the UHE keeps its members informed about the international swimming pool market and its operations. After the 9th General Meeting of the Association Members on 14 March 2009, new candidates of the Management Committee have been elected and took over the management for a new period of time. The new president is Mr Ali AKGUN. CRYSTAL CLEAR POOL WATERS WITH OSPA-ERKOC Odorless, clear, hygienic, effort-free, controlled, perfectly planned and continuously monitored. Firstly, water preparations facilities specific to each pool and calculations and technical specifications for these facilities are made. According to the results, relevant materials are selected and the designing process starts. Details of the architectural design and production are drawn out and it is made sure that that the static project is compliant. The next stage is drawing for the facilities which are prepared according to the initial calculations. With the system flow and automation relation diagrams, our design is completed.

Water quality is not a coincidence. It is the result of precise engineering calculations. In the application stage, all the ‘concrete passage materials’ and pipes are fixated. Then the concrete is laid. In other word, no ducts are left in the concrete for later placement of materials. On the other hand, prior to the concrete laying, pipe non-leakage tests are carried out. Following the construction works, the fittings are laid and the machinery is assembled and the system is started up. The brochures of the used material, weeklydaily operation and water control diagrams are included in a ‘pool care manual’ which will be given to the client. One person designated by the client – the operator- will be trained by us.

High quality fully-automated filter technique The filters developed by Ospa for special and general purpose pools, are the first stage in the quality process.

When the organic contaminants are perfectly filtered out, excessive chemical intervention is naturally not needed as much. The high quality filter materials, Quarz, Hydroantresit H or active carbon layers in the special pool filters, guarantee minimum dependent chlorine and high redox potential, which makes the pool water fresher and more pleasant. In the filtration and reverse washing, the water flow inside the filter will be flawless. This perfect flow guarantees perfect filtration and standard-compliant, real reverse washing (filter cleaning). The Ospa filter tanks are produced from a special resin that is resistant to strong chemicals. Multi-way Ospa hydro-magnetic valves that are produced of high quality plastic, bronze, and steel, are resistant to differences in water pressure and close automatically, ensuring long term high quality filtering.

Using the Ospa-Klorozon facilities, you can meet the requirements of TSE11899 and DIN 19643 sufficiently. Thanks to the high disinfection and oxidation skills, now you can produce the chlorineoxygen bonds only as needed. Ospa Klorozon facilities are

designed to achieve high redox values and high bacteria elimination rates. Furthermore the disinfectant produced by the pool can easily be measured at the pool. Our experiences with this device show that it ensures full safety. As a result, you donâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t need to store chlorine and take associated safety measures. Ospa BlueControl technique helps you measure and configure the water values. On the display you can see the free chlorine, pH, redox, and water temperature parameters. By lightly touching the display, you can easily change the values on the display and make the configurations for the obligatory parameters and set the alarm values. Deviations from threshold value in the dosage facilities or heater can be set easily. It is also possible to perform full automatic control of the filter device and the pump through BlueControl-Pilot. Each function phase of the pump can be viewed on the display. With just one touch on the display, you can easily see the daily filter operation and filter reverse washing times. Also, it is possible to manually shut down the filter and set the half-capacity operation position. The state of the pump and possible errors can also be viewed on the BlueControl pilot. It is also possible to clean the overflow channels over BlueControl. Password is required to access the pages. BlueControl also stores the past events, including failures, actions taken, the changes done by the operator or services on the program and command parameters along with date and time details and the operator name. The authorities will be able to access these details any time. And this is not all. RGB led command allows easy control of water attractions and underwater lighting systems.

Our company was established by Dr. Electrical Engineer Necmettin ÖZDEM in 1969 to produce transformers and rectifiers. The change is started within the company after Mechanical Engineer Uygar ÖZDEM started to take the position of General Manager in 1990. After 1990 the company began to manufacture pool type of transformers and electrical control panels. Because of this reason, company generally known as the transformer maker in pool sector domestically. TURKEY AND THE SWİMMİNG POOL SECTOR

The global crisis affecting the whole world has also affected our country deeply, and as in every sector, the pool construction sector has taken its share from the crisis. However, I believe that the measures taken against the crisis in Imperialist countries, those which will call as the central countries, will be effective in planned policies, but not in a short term. As Turkey, which is one of the surrounding countries, cannot perceive the problems of global crisis adequately and thus cannot be effective in taking measures either. Even the measures required to overcome the crisis are not taken, people and sectors can be capable of adjusting themselves to the new conditions within the course of life. Shutting down of businesses, workers losing their jobs, etc. do not cause any trouble for some people. Even there are no new investments in our country due to the crisis, and the growth is projected to be in minus figures in 2009 and as %3 in 2010, the pool construction sector is capable of surviving, at least locally, with its present situation. Although the tourism investments have decreased, it will increase with variety when tourism policies based on natural wealth and historical texture of Turkey are followed. Also, if we follow the economical and social developments in the world closely, we will see that Turkey has no significant and permanent economic income other than tourism sector in the future. I think that Health and SPA investments will also increase with natural beauties and seasonal characteristics. As a conclusion of all evaluations above, I believe that the Pool Construction Sector will be affected slightly from the chain of crises. When we look at the Pool Construction Sector from the aspects of Trade, Technology, Production, Contracting and services, even it is affected from the global crisis as of today, I believe that it will be better in the future. We are capable of competing with European countries in certain products of our local production. Again, as our manufacturers market and sell their products all over the world, they take part in the most important fairs of

the world. Our contractor companies both realize significant projects in our country and take part in large investments abroad, especially in CIS countries. In short, we have reached the level of knowledge and technology that can be compared to European and world countries. Import materials and equipment with quality close to those domestically manufactured are used in our country. Especially the equipments supplied by manufacturers and vendor companies in Europe are purchased in our country. However, European manufacturers and vendors sell the materials and equipments which they do not or cannot sell in EU member countries to us with sometimes more excessive prices. We should not blame only the European countries for this, as it is also an important factor that they do not have local partners and there is the lack of standards and inadequate inspection of Turkish government. However, European countries act in compliance with the foreign and economic policies of their countries when they enter in world markets with their products, and their governments show significant efforts to increase the market share. In order to ease foreign sales, market countries also grant certain privileges. Spanish companies, which have an important market in Turkey, cannot even be effective in taking visas for the company representatives who market their products, or they do not show enough effort because they do not consider Turkey as an important market. Again, these companies do not apply the technical knowledge and maintenance services related to the products they sell as they do in EU member countries. Hamam – Turkish Bath Experience “Purification of body and soul”

The Turkish word “hamam” derives from the Arabic word “hammam”, which means “something that heats”, “to be hot”. The Turkish bath is the Middle Eastern variant of a steam bath and can be categorized as a wet relative of the sauna. The tradition Ayşegül Sungur of the Turkish bath extends far back to a Promet SPA Wellness time before Turks had reached Anatolia. When the Turks arrived in Anatolia, they brought with them one bathing tradition and were confronted with Romans and Byzantines with certain local variants. The traditions merged and with the addition of the Moslem concern for cleanliness an entirely new concept arose

which is “turkish hamam”. Being social centers in the Ottoman Empire, hamams were built in almost every Ottoman city and played an important role in the social life. It was bound up with everyday life, a place where people of every rank , could come freely. They were centers of social gatherings, populated on almost every occasion with traditional entertainment and ceremonies, such as before weddings, holidays, celebrating newborns, beauty trips for ladies etc. The hamam, like Roman thermae was not exclusive to men only. Women as well as men made use of the “hamam”, of course at separate hours.

A typical hamam consists of three interconnected basic rooms similar to Roman Baths: The “sogukluk” (vestarium) also called “camekan” or “soyunmalik” is to dress up, to relax, to have a refreshing drink and where available nap in private cubicles after the massage. The “iliklik” warm room (tepidarium) which is the intermediate room betwen the cold and hot parts of the bath where visitors adjust to heat. The “sicaklik” (or hararet - caldarium) which is the hot room, the area which actual washing takes place. The “sicaklik” usually has a large dome decorated with small glass windows called elephant eyes that create a half-light. It also contains a large marble stone at the center that

the customers lie on and niches with fountains in the corners. This room is for soaking up steam and getting scrub massages. This area leads to small cubicles that offer even hotter washing opportunities. These cubicles which are called “halvet” are usually hotter than the general washing spaces and allow the bather to wash in private. If you haven’t been in a Turkish Hamam, you’ve missed one of life’s great experiences and have never been truly clean! What happens in a hamam ritual? The masseur (Tellak in Turkish) leads you into the Soğukluk (cold room) where you adjust to the heat. Next, wearing only a Peştemal (a large towel fringed at both ends and wrapped around) and your nalıns (clogs), you pass through a wooden door and reach the main Sıcaklık (warm room). The main room consists of a raised marble platform which graces the center of the hamam which is called göbek tasi (navel stone). Then you lie on the Göbek tasi for a vigorous massage; this treatment is called keselenmek in Turkish. The masseur (Tellak in Turkish) pours hot water on you and then begin to scrub your body using a rough cloth glove (kese). Basically, every millimeter of dead and dirty skin is scrubbed off. Afterwards, you are lathered with special soap and given the choice of a full body massage which sometimes a little bit painful, but said to be well worth. The massage starts at your neck ; every muscle down the entire length of your spine to your feet. This is especially wonderful and guaranteed to make you feel relaxed. You roll over and the masseur (tellak) washs you from head to toe again as if you are a small child.

Then you are given fresh towels and again brought to Soğukluk (the cool room) to rest, dry off, drink tea, coffee or refreshments and socialize with other hamamers” Hamam treatments are the most demanded menus in day spas and resort hotel spas.
