WHATS NEW / UPDATES New Local Shaper Brice Yamashita — he’s been getting a lot of notice lately, so we took notice. The shape is cool, and the price is really good at $545 (and no skimping on the quality). We’re stoked to be working with someone who has the same high standards! The AppleSeed model is different and fun

The Harley Ingleby boards are light, super-strong and flex like regular fiberglass boards. All winter on the North Shore, it’s tested by well-known longboarders. Hawaiian South Shore is Hawaii’s exclusive Thunderbolt Technology dealer. The US distributor Carve Sports made this happen, and we are totally honored. For you folks on the outer islands, we will do our best to get the boards to you with as few changes as possible for packing and delivery to Aloha Air Cargo. The air freight from Honolulu to Outer Hawaiian Islands is $35 for up to 10’! Aloha Air is hooking surfers up! Another exclusive is the CJ Nelson Single-Fin Longboards. CJ’s been testing a new model called the Sprout, and he loves it. It’s super-stable on the nose, but the board can turn on steep waves. The concave is almost 1’ deep, and it goes close to the center. I guess that’s what makes it nose-ride so well. Anyway, this board is getting super-rave reviews by both team riders and amateurs. We just got our first batch. The boards come in 9’6 x 23 1/2” x 3” and 10’ x 24” x 3 1/8” (both single fins). The Instagram post on the right is a guy from Australia who is staying here for two months. He came in looking for an 8’ longboard and saw this Stewart Funline 11. Before he got it, he wanted to check out a couple other shops. He came back because people from other shops told him, “If there is a Stewart, get that!” He purchased it, and after two days, he called and told us he was super-stoked! After 3 years on junk boards, he was getting frustrated and almost wanted to give up surfing. But this board just brought his stoke back. He went on to explain it took him 3 waves to figure the board out. He said he was able to duck-dive the board, and turn it from the center without walking back to the tail — he also said it nose-rides so easy! This guy talked about the board for 30 minutes straight! Man it’s an awesome feeling when we help someone get their stoke back. We love what we do for sure! Getting reviews like this is super-important, so we know how your board is working out for you. If you have any stories of stoke, email us — we’d love to hear from you! - David

THE CREATURES OF LEISURES “Bearing Swivel Leash System” The bearing swivel system is an industry first and unlike all other leash swivels actually lubricates itself as it spins. The stainless steel and Co-polymer plastic construction makes the component practically unbreakable and importantly resistant to corrosion. The result is the fastest and most free spinning leash swivel system available today and welcome news to surfers who know all too well the problems associated with jammed swivels and tangled leashes. This month Ryan, who designed the Vektor fins, came by to show us a fin setup that friends were using when they’re surf country. I would have never thought of this, and to be honest, I wouldn’t have tried them because they look so stiff. Ryan explained that by using them with regular thrusters, the board will surf like normal, and you’ll mostly feel it when you have it on rail. He said it’s for hollow waves, and juicy open-face waves as well. I was skeptical for sure, so he gave us a demo to try it. The next day. I surfed country with a friend and it worked really well. There was lots of drive down the line, and I was able to turn the board like normal. I can’t believe how versatile these things are! Below we listed some of the popular ways to use the fins. And hey, if you want to demo one, just let the guys at the shop know. Free demos are one of the perks of being a member.
