WESTMINSTER
1
The Westminster lamp is a piece that I designed and fabricated from start to finish. It derives its name from the slender lamps that punctuate the choir of Westminster Abbey in London which served as the inspiration for the piece. As a designer, I find satisfaction in playing with scale and proportion. When designing the Westminster lamp, I experimented with altering the conventional proportions of the average table lamp to create interest.
SMALL RETAIL
5
Noble Wax Candle Co. is my own reallife luxury candle business that I founded a little over a year ago. I was assigned, along with one other person, to create a retail space of our choice to be located in Tulsa Oklahoma so we decided to use my company. We drew inspiration from the packaging of the candles and the company's website and created an elegant environment suitable for events and everyday business.
LLOYD
11
Lloyd is a multipurpose piece that serves as both a table and a chair. It can be converted by simply adding or removing the back support piece. The sharp corners, clean lines, and geometric form are inspired by the transcendent designs of Frank Lloyd Wright.
I decided to leave the untreated pine natural for several reasons. I loved the way it exposes the grains of the wood that adds an organic element that softens the harsh geometr y. I also enjoy not only the texture of natural wood that treated wood lacks but also the scent of the freshly cut wood that I just couldn’t b r i n g m y s e l f t o d e fa c e w i t h p a i n t o r stain. I wanted to create a piece that provokes all of the senses that is as functional as it is artistic.
RESIDENTIAL
15
Edelweiss is a fictitious residential project that I worked on with two other people. We were given a client profile that described the clients as a retired couple in their 70s with medical issues that prompted them to build their custom dream house. The husband was in a wheelchair, and the wife was missing her left arm. They have been fortunate enough to travel extensively and along the way fell in love with Switzerland. They had two grandchildren that stayed with them every summer. They asked us to design a home for them that met all of their needs and that they could Live in for the rest of their lives. During our research, we were inspired by many aspects of Swiss culture — particularly the edelweiss flower, Swiss cowbells and the work of Swiss-born architect Le Corbusier.
CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS

These documents show my design and specifications for the administrative offices of an elementary school in West Virginia. All of my construction documents were drawn in AutoCAD.

FORMES Shapes are the most basic of the elements of design and yet one of the most fundamental. I began experimenting with cast concrete forms years ago and recently began exploring plaster. The concrete sphere has been sitting in the garden for about two years to get the perfect amount of algae growth. I love the ever-changing quality of garden features and the idea of bringing them inside from time to time to enjoy. The other shapes are cast in plaster. The lamp shade is one I found at a thrift shop and designed a lamp to go with it that exaggerates the proportions of the shade, emphasizing the dramatic conical shape of it. The print is 18th century.
REITVELD Reitveld is a project that began its life as a few lines drawn in AutoCAD. I drew them to scale, laser cut them on basswood, assembled every piece, and painted it accurately according to pictures of the original chair by Gerrit Rietveld from 1918.
I love to draw. I draw quite often in my free time. I also love hand rendering. It’s not something that I get to do often, but when I do, I adore it. To me, there is something so personal and charming about hand sketches and renderings. I believe that they carry a sort of entrancing quality about them. This is a rendering that I did as a freshman.
