The National day of UAE stands for the nationalisation from the British Protectorate Treaties which were declared in 1968 and also falls on the anniversary of the federal unification of the seven emirates in 1971 which combined to form the modern-day country, headed by Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the federation’s first president. Fujairah is a land endowed with remarkable beauty. It holds a unique position in the UAE, beingthe only emirate that lies on the eastern sideof the UAE. The emirate of Fujairah covers approximately1,166 km2, or about 1.5% of the area ofthe UAE, and is the fifth-largest emirate in theUAE. Its population is around 225,360 inhabitants(in 2016); only the Emirate of Umm al-Quwain hasfewer occupants. The main cities and villages inFujairah are Dibba, Murbeh, Qidfa, Al Bidiyah, Masafiand Al-Siji. Fujairah is one of the seven emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates Fujairah, dominatedby the Sharqiyin tribe,sits at the mouth of theimportant trade route, the Wadi Ham (which is guarded by the Sharqiyin fort at Bithnah),through the mountains to the interior and the Arab Gulf Coast. Fujairah is also rich in late Islamic fortresses, as well as being home to the oldest mosque in the United Arab Emirate, the Al Badiyah Mosque, which was built in 1446 of mud and bricks.

Fujairah derives its name from a spring of water located beneath one of the mountains. The Al-Hajar mountain range that divides the UAE in two, from Ras Al Khaimah to Al Ain has kept Fujairah separated from the rest of the country. The historical importance of Fujairah dates back to at least 4,000 years back. It was known in the old ages as the land of sea giants. Fujairah has much to offer. This small community now enjoys modern facilities and conveniences, and is linked by modern highways to all major cities in the United Arab Emirates. Its strategic location, which provides easy access to international shipping routes, has played a key role in its development as one of the world’s top oil-bunkering ports.
