Get Busy Living in South Quesnel Take a walk on the ‘Wilde’ side with this short trail developed by the
lovely teachers. staff and parents at Dragon Lake Elementary School. Head to the school and after playing in the playground head towards the fence line behind the playground. You’ll find an exit point from the field grounds and signs directing you through this short trail with a view point of Dragon Lake creek and information signs on the plants and trees found in the area. This is a family friendly trail and great summer time activity to try while visiting the playground. See you on the trails around Quesnel!

In our neighbourhood Ricki’s/Bootlegger Over the past 35 years Ricki’s/Bootlegger has been a strong supporter and contributor to community groups and organizations. There isn’t much that Kathy Somerville and her team haven’t been involved with. To only name a few the Ricki’s/Bootlegger team have been a proud sponsor of Dry Grad, numerous school fundraisers (with almost every school in School District 28), Parent Advisory Committees (PAC’s), Rotary functions, Billy Barker Days, curling bonspiels, ball tournaments, golf fundraisers, personal fundraisers for those in need, Canadian Women’s Foundation, Hope Air and soccer fundraisers. Kathy and her team volunteer their time and are true community boosters, celebrating Quesnel and ensuring that local community groups are able to succeed. Sandi bought the business in 2017 and recently celebrated her one year anniversary. In that first year, QBrew has become a sizeable sponsor to Quesnel community groups including Ducks Unlimited, the Long Table Grocery, the Quesnel Child Development Centre, Skyfest, the Quesnel Wine Club, the Nazko Community Association, the Wells Community Association and a number of other local charities. For those wine and beer curious, QBrew offers a variety of wines (top shelf to easy drinking), fruit wine coolers, beer, apple crushing and pressing, Historic signage from the Fraser River Bridge. The construction of the bridge started 90 years ago this year. Why could horses only walk across the bridge? There were concerns that the vibration from galloping horses could weaken the structure. The sign was removed in the 1950’s.

The South Quesnel Business Association (SQBA) has been in operation since 2002. The association is funded by a levy on businesses within a defined boundary area set up by the first board of directors for the association. Businesses within the boundary area pay a levy amount based on their land and buildings total property value. The association was formed to complete revitalization and marketing projects in the boundary area to increase the total number of customers shopping in the business area; while also revitalizing the business area through beautification projects.
