CAMP ISABELLA FREEDMAN Jewish Summer Camp for Active Adults 55+
July 9-15 & July 16-22, 2018 (Come for one week or two!)
Isabella Freedman Jewish Retreat Center • Falls Village, CT
A Vacation Unlike Any Other Join us in the Berkshires and enjoy 400 acres of summer fun. Take a boat out on the lake, go for an afternoon swim in the pool, visit the animals (and the vegetables) on our farm – Camp Isabella Freedman has bountiful natural riches! But there’s so much more to enjoy and to share. Listen to informative and inspiring lectures, watch memorable films, join in lively discussions, sing and dance your heart out, and of course roast marshmallows at the lakeside firepit as the moon rises. Isabella Freedman offers good ol’ fashioned summer camp fun along with spiritual depth that adds resonance to the experience. Enjoy grown-up amenities too, like air-conditioning and Happy Hours. ARTS & CRAFTS puts a sophisticated spin on camp creativity: enjoy fused glass, silk painting, beading, painting, and collage. You’ll make exquisite objects to treasure or gift with pride. MOVEMENT AND MINDFULNESS classes will have you doing yoga, T’ai Chi, Zumba, and water aerobics. Learn from celebrated teachers like Diane Bloomfield (Torah Yoga, Week 2). You’ll move your body and still your mind. A week or two at Camp IF can change and enrich your well-being for the rest of the year. HIKE on your own or join daily guided hikes – from gentle walks to challenging climbs – on our nature trails, the Appalachian Trail, and in local towns in a region that was called the “Arsenal of the Revolution.” At our LECTURE SERIES, CLASSES, AND DISCUSSION GROUPS you can investigate the meaning of dreams, journey through Jewish music, consider men’s struggle for intimacy, explore the women of the Torah, examine current events, explore intriguing stories of the Conversos, and develop creative writing skills. You’ll be intellectually stimulated by both presenters and fellow campers.

ENTERTAINMENT offerings will include music from barbershop quartets to operatic arias and concert pianists, fascinating movies, talent shows, campfires, dance parties, Trivia Café, and Hawaiian night. Partake of activities unique to Isabella Freedman: make pickles from vegetables grown on our ADAMAH FARM. Explore local edible and medicinal plants; engage in deeply meaningful intergenerational dialogue with the Adamah farm fellows. Our HEALTHY MEALS are farm-to-table fresh and glatt kosher. Fresh vegetables and fish are complemented by Grow and Behold’s organic chicken and beef. We offer inspiring and uplifting Egalitarian and Orthodox SHABBAT SERVICES in our lakeside synagogue. And – your children and grandchildren are welcome to book visits while you’re here. Your family will enjoy the warmth of our staff and the friendliness of your fellow campers.
