When we speak of ‘Tournament Watch,’ it would be a sin to miss out on talking about the humongous WSOP! So, we take a quick walk through the by lanes, its controversies, India’s run at WSOP and give you a sneak peek.

Wpoker immediately, high stakes of money, cigars in one hand, and Vegas come to mind. You start dreaming – maybe one day you’ll be able to compete against thousands and emerge victorious in a tournament with such a huge prize money.
Every poker player, who starts considering poker a serious business, always has their eye and a little space reserved in heart and brain for WSOP and its bracelets. And why not! Numerous events happen every year, organised by some of the biggest online poker platforms, still, the World Series of Poker remains the most prestigious event on the calendar. Played annually in Las Vegas, WSOP, has allowed players to change their lives, test themselves and show the world what true poker strategies are. With its origins dating back to 1969, the series has gone through changes over the years.
Traveling back to 1970
Before achieving the stardom position, WSOP enjoys today -standing tall, in both tradition and stature - it was an invitation-only tournament started by Legendary Las Vegas casino owner Benny Binion in 1970. With a handful of the best poker players in the
world gathered at his famous Horseshoe Casino, Binion wanted to determine who was the number one player on the planet. The legendary Johnny Moss came out as the ‘World Champion’, the basis of the popular vote. This is the same Johnny Moss, who, along with Nicholas “Nick the Greek” Dandolos, played the poker marathon in 1949, which lasted for five months. Though significant in its own way, this poker marathon paved to be the stepping stone of WSOP.
WSOP, today, has touched millions of lives over the years, giving opportunities to talented players to follow their dreams, reach for the stars even on days that are long and arduous, and perhaps one day achieve greatness in their chosen endeavor.
WSOP 2020: The year of two Main Events
The 2021 World Series of Poker will begin on 30th September at the Rio in Las Vegas, and there is a promise that the event this year will be more entertaining and, most importantly, worth your time. We believe them too, owing to how everyone’s lives changed in 2020.
2020 changed the way we look and grasp things. People’s lives came to a halt, and societies had to adapt to a system where everything went online. WSOP then announced an exclusive online version, ‘World Series of Poker Online,” an online poker festival that spanned two months.
