SCHOLARSHIPS

Over 1.6 million in scholarship dollars are awarded to HutchCC students each year. The scholarships are limited in number and awarded on a competitive basis. Students will have access to the scholarship application (in DragonZone under the Finance tab) in September of their senior year and should complete it by the priority deadline of February 15th.

ENDOWMENT & DEPARTMENTAL SCHOLARSHIPS Amounts and requirements vary based on awarding party. Students must be full-time (enrolled in at least 12 credit hours) and have a minimum 2.0 GPA. Please make sure you have indicated your area of study in your DragonZone. 9


ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS

HutchCC offers a unique opportunity for students when it comes to academic scholarships. Rather than simply receiving a scholarship, these students receive an academic experience.

Presidential Gold Scholars will enroll in honors course(s), participate in an academic project with a faculty member and receive tuition for up to 15 credit hours per semester plus books. Requirements: Incoming freshman from a Kansas high school, ACT score of 28 or higher and a GPA of 3.75+, one letter of recommendation and completed personal statement on scholarship application. Presidential Scholars will enroll in honors course(s), participate in an academic project with a faculty member and receive $1500 per year towards tuition plus books. Requirements: Incoming freshman from a Kansas high school, ACT score of 25 or higher and minimum GPA of 3.25 OR cumulative high school GPA of 3.75, and completed personal statement on scholarship application. Leadership Scholars will enroll in a leadership class, participate in a club or organization, complete community service hours, and participate in an internship to explore career choice. Students will receive $1500 per year towards tuition plus books. Requirements: Incoming freshman from a Kansas high school, GPA of 3.25+, two letters of recommendation, and completed personal statement on scholarship application. Honors Merit Scholars will enroll in honors course(s), and be active members of the Honors Student Council. Students will receive funds up to six credit hours of tuition for honors classes per semester plus books. This scholarship has the ability to be stacked with Presidential and Leadership scholarships. Requirements: ACT score of 27 or higher OR a GPA of 3.75+

RESIDENCE HALLS LIVING ON CAMPUS

HutchCC Residence Halls provide on-campus housing for over 500 students. Apartment townhouses, suites and traditional dorm rooms are options for living spaces. By choosing to live in the Residence Halls, students are able to get connected to the campus community and meet many other Blue Dragons. On-campus living spaces traditionally fill-up quickly, so make sure to complete the dorm application early. The housing application will open up in February and can be found at www.hutchcc.edu/residence-life.

Kent Hall

Kent Hall sits at the northern edge of main campus. With three floors and six wings, it can house 200 students at double-occupancy. Kent Hall rooms are traditional dorm rooms with one common bathroom in each wing.

Elland Hall North & South

Elland Hall North & South is a traditional residence hall that houses approximately 175 students with two students assigned to a room with a common bathroom in each wing.

Dragon’s Landing

Dragon’s Landing is an apartment style residence hall that houses close to 50 students with four students assigned to an apartment. Each apartment has a shared living room, kitchenette, dining room and bathroom. Returning sophomores are given priority over new students. Apartments come with limited furnishings and students must participate in the all-inclusive meal plan with this style of living.

BEING A BLUE DRAGON DINING OPTIONS

Less than a year old, the renovated Dining Center on campus is top notch. The cafeteria has a pizza oven, grill, salad & soup bar, crave station (demonstration area), and sandwich bar. The neighboring Grab & Go store offers specialty coffee drinks, breakfast and snack items, plus to-go orders. Both areas are open to the public and off-campus students. Every oncampus housing student has the all-you-can-eat meal plan to access the cafeteria whenever opened.

STUDENT RECREATION

Have down time between classes? Our campus and student union has great options for recreation, fitness, study spots and more. The Union basement has a large area with study rooms, pool and ping pong tables, lounge areas, charging stations and fitness equipment.

STUDENT HEALTH SERVICES

HutchCC participates in a community partnership with PrairieStar Health Center, a local medical clinic serving the Hutchinson area. Students can use the services of PrairieStar with a voucher provided by the College. In addition to personal visits, telehealth visits are also an option.

Whether you are a performer or a patron, you will want to check out our stellar Fine Arts programs. We offer theatre, art, instrumental and vocal music programs. HutchCC students get in free to Fine Arts events with their student IDs.

CAMPUS EVENTS

Get involved! A variety of campus events are held throughout the year to help our students be engaged, learn, and have fun. As a Blue Dragon you can solicalize at our Homecoming and Spring Fling weeks, learn how to be healthy at our Wellness Fair, connect with potential employers at our Career Connections Job Fair, plus much more!

We have over 50 different clubs and organizations on campus. Attend our Activities Fair at the beginning of the school year to find your niche. 17


ATHLETICS

BLUE DRAGON SPORTS The Blue Dragon Nation is among the proudest around. Join your fellow students and community as they cheer on the football, basketball, baseball, golf, track, cross country, volleyball, soccer, softball and spirit squads when they compete. All regular-season home games are free for HutchCC students when they show their ID. If you are interested in participating in a specific sport, please use the coaching contact information on bluedragonsports.com to contact them directly.

The athletic department has an impressive and long standing history of competing and winning in the Jayhawk Conference. Eight national championship trophies: Men’s basketball - 1988, 1994, 2017 Women’s Cross Country - 2001 Men’s Track - 1954, 1959 Football - 2020-21 Men’s Golf - 2021 More than 450 All-Americans since 1929 50 combined men’s Region VI championships 14 combined women’s Region VI championships An average of 14 Academic All-Americans per year since 1997 73 combined men’s Jayhawk Conference/ Jayhawk West championships 18 combined women’s Jayhawk Conference/ Jayhawk West Championships Men’s Basketball is the second winningest NJCAA program in history

COMMUNITY DILLON LECTURE SERIES

Hosted on campus, this Lecture Series brings nationally and internationally renowned individuals such as poets, actors, athletes and politicians right to our front door. Past speakers include Maya Angelou, Mario Andretti, Henry Winkler, Soledad O’Brien, Elizabeth Smart and Captain Scott Kelly.

KANSAS STATE FAIR Each fall, Hutchinson hosts the Kansas State Fair located within walking distance of campus. Check out delicious food, talented displays, breathtaking rides, outdoor concerts and more. 20

PAYMENT PLAN Finalize your enrollment and financial aid in DragonZone. The HutchCC Business Office allows students to sign up for a payment plan to pay for classes. Sign up within DragonZone, under the Finance tab, or contact the Business Office.
