Darcie Yukimura honored By The Garden Island | Monday, June 10, 2019, 12:05 a.m.
HONOLULU — Omidyar Fellows recently welcomed 15 emerging leaders and changemakers to its seventh cohort. The Omidyar Fellows program seeks to cultivate the conditions in which Hawaii thrives by equipping mid-career leaders with the skills and cross-sector relationships necessary to collectively affect societal change. The individuals were selected through a rigorous application process, based on their accomplishments and their motivation and ability to make positive change in Hawaii. “We welcome this seventh cohort of inspiring leaders that are committed to improving Hawaii’s future as they join a network of 85 transformative leaders in the Forum of Fellows,” said Bill Coy, director of Omidyar Fellows. This year’s cohort includes Kauai’s Darcie Yukimura, Kauai director of community philanthropy with the Hawai‘i Community Foundation. She oversees nearly 70 charitable funds and over $2 million in grants to nonprofit organizations and scholarships for students on Kauai annually. Youth success has been a focus of Yukimura’s career and service. Previously, she was the director of communications at Saint Louis School and a communications specialist at the state Department of Health. She received a master’s degree in public health and a bachelor’s degree in communication from the University of Arizona. She currently serves on the corporate board of the Boys and Girls Club of Hawaii and the County of Kauai Committee on the Status of Women. Cohort VII commences in October 2019 with 15 months of structured curriculum, which includes one full-day session each month, executive coaching, conversations with community, business and government leaders, and more. After the curriculum portion concludes, the cohort becomes fully engaged in the Forum of Fellows, an active network of 85 cross-sector leaders and change-makers, all of whom are dedicated to making positive movement on Hawaii’s most pressing issues. https://www.thegardenisland.com/2019/06/10/hawaii-news/darcie-yukimura-honored/
