HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Last year, the Hawaii Community Foundation gave more than $6 million in scholarships to college bound students. Applications for scholarships this year are already being accepted. Eric La`a is Senior Development O cer with the Hawaii Community Foundation. Bella Finau is one of the scholarship recipients. Eric talks about how the Hawaii Community Foundation helps, assists and wants to not only GET you into college, but to get you thru college to getting that degree that you seek. Bella shared how it's changed her life; having to focus on her family, while still getting her education and degree. (Bella is also a member of the Hawaii Recording Group Na Wai Ho'olu'u O Ke Anuenue - balancing all of that? WHEW!) Here is some additional information from HCF: • Encourage Hawaii students to apply for scholarships up to Jan. 31, 2018 at 4 p.m. via HCF's easy online application system. HawaiiCommunityFoundation.org • How the scholarship has helped them/their families with cost of education, speci cally multiple student scholarship recipient -- Bella Finau • Remind potential donors/givers that they can contribute to existing scholarship funds, like the HCF First Generation Scholarship Fund or create their own. The Hawai'i Community Foundation (HCF), the state of Hawai'i's leading philanthropic organization, wants to help students not only enter college, but stay in college and obtain a degree. On Nov. 15, 2017, HCF began accepting applications for the 2018 – 2019 scholarship. HCF is the third largest private provider of scholarships in the state with more than 200 scholarships available.
