HAWAI‘I’S NEXT GENERATION OF GIVERS GATHER WITH NATIONAL EXPERT AND AN EYE TOWARD THE FUTURE HONOLULU — Hawai‘i’s Next Generation Donor Hui, in partnership with the Hawai‘i Community Foundation, has organized two days of workshops for nonprofits, givers and parents to meet with Sharna Goldseker, expert in Gen X and Millennial philanthropy. Ms. Goldseker has helped young philanthropists, and multigenerational families with young givers, to evaluate the most effective and compelling giving strategies for their next generation. “Our parents’ generation had a specific giving style and approach that multigenerational families want to continue,” says Anne Swayne-Keir, member of the Hawai‘i-based Next Generation Donor Hui. “But it’s also an exciting time in philanthropy because innovation, technology and access to data take our partnerships with community organizations to another level.” The Next Generation Donor Hui is made up of eighteen philanthropic community members, a few of whom are interested in how Sharna Goldseker’s expertise and book Generation Impact, How Next Gen Donors are Revolutionizing Giving can refine the direction of their group. They also want to share resources with the growing community of multi-generational givers. This led Lia Sheehan, Amber Makaiau and Anne Swayne-Keir to set up several workshops and events in Hawai‘i. “We’re thrilled that Sharna will meet with Hawai‘i’s nonprofits about partnering with excited young philanthropists, as well as parents interested in raising their children to be philanthropically-minded,” said Lia Sheehan. “The more information we all have about making each charitable dollar effective, the better. Knowledge is what allows everyone, from legislators and philanthropists to voters in Hawai‘i, to make the best possible decisions for our communities.” Ms. Goldseker’s workshops are taking place on February 28th and March 1 in Honolulu. Media are invited to attend the following workshop: WHAT: Event - How will the next generation of donors be giving in the future?
