Hawaiʻi Community Foundation Announces Todd Apo as Vice President of Partnerships & Public Affairs HONOLULU, HAWAI‘I — The Hawaiʻi Community Foundation, (HCF) one of the state’s leading philanthropic institutions, is pleased to announce that Todd Apo will join as Vice President of Partnerships & Public Affairs starting on January 4, 2021. Apo brings a rich background of community engagement, government relations, and corporate leadership to HCF. Apo most recently was senior vice president of community development for national real estate developer Howard Hughes Corporation. Prior to that, he was director of public affairs for Disney Parks and Resorts in Hawaiʻi. Apo is an attorney who was previously elected to the role of Chairman of the Honolulu City Council. In his new role at HCF, Apo will focus on strengthening HCF’s government collaborations. He will also be responsible for operationalizing HCF’s data-driven CHANGE framework, meant to maximize the impact of the organization across areas of greatest need. “Todd has a diverse background steeped in community engagement and civic relations, and grounded in data analysis,” said Micah Kāne, CEO and President for the Hawaiʻi Community Foundation. “He is a strategic addition to the team who will lead our efforts to operationalize data that has the potential to impact policy and ultimately create more equitable systems in our state.” Apo is a graduate of Kamehameha Schools and holds a J.D. and M.B.A. from the University of Hawaiʻi, and a B.A. from Brown University in Computer Science and Economics. Apo currently serves on multiple non-profit boards serving the local community, including Make-a-Wish Hawaiʻi, Boys & Girls Club, Special Olympics, Bishop Museum, Red Cross and Child and Family Services. He is also a NAIOP Hawaiʻi and Land Use Research Foundation board member. Todd grew up on Kapālama Heights and now lives in Nuʻuanu. “Hawaiʻi Community Foundation has been a long time necessity for our State, and 2020 accentuated the need that will continue for years to come,” says Todd Apo. “Throughout my endeavours, I have worked to listen and serve as an empathetic leader in our community.
