Visualitzation process of a handmade typography
INTRODUCTION The choosen site is a cafe in the City Center of Winchester, where worn and wasted materials and textures abound. This textures and colours of objects found in the cafe are very interesting aspects that provably we overlook, but they creat the real atmosphere of the site. All textures found are old, antique, spent and wasted because of the daily use and they shows how materials changes over time. So, from this point, the aim of the project is find a way to create a handmade brand which displays this change of textures over time.
MATERIAL USED Coffe Brown Ink Water Blotting paper Brush Iron
WASTED
CA F E
NAMING & LAYOUT Naming of the cafe: Wasted Cafe [This name refers to deterioration of materials found in it.] Typography and layout chosen for transformation. [Pacific Sans is the font chosen because of its combination of different thicknesses, this makes a more dynamic typography.]
INK APPLY
Soak the paper with ink
Let dry parts
SUPPLY HEAT Applying heat to the typography. [Contact of heat with typography ink soaked , turns brown in green ink. With this method I get the first visible change in typography, which it shows how a texture starts change over time.]
WATER APPLY Water dripping on the typography. [Contact of water with soak typography, scatters the ink applied previously in the typography. With this other method I get the second visible change in typography, which we can see how the typography (texture) change over time.]
THE RESULT At the end of the process you get a font like a rusty matal with really interesting textures and colours. Althought, if we can’t see the whole process, it is understood that this typography is the result of a long process (which means a long time). So it is understood that the texture has changed.
TYPOGRAPHY The letters used to get the rusty metal typography, obtains a great metal texture too.
TEXTURE & COLOURS
Using the same technique we can create a texture to a fund, that can be useful in the corporate identity of the brand.
CORPORATE IDENTITY
With the same texture in a different color, we can get various applications (like flyers) for the brand, which can be used with all colours.
CORPORATE IDENTITY
Creating a new texture with milk and heat referring to coffee stains that are left after spending time in a cafe. So, it shows how a texture or an object (table) changes over time.
