Local Connections. National Recognition. ProMedica has successfully expanded from our Toledo, Ohio roots to serve as one of the nation’s top health and well-being organizations. Our 2018 acquisition of HCR ManorCare, now ProMedica Senior Care, positions us to become the nation’s first health system to have coast-to-coast resources that cover nearly every aspect of health care. ProMedica’s unprecedented growth charted a new course of care for the nation’s aging population. It took vision to understand that integration of care throughout a person’s life would mean safer, stronger, better care for the entire family. This vision has created interest and enthusiasm across the healthcare industry. Now, ProMedica is a leader bringing new ideas, innovative partnerships and momentum to change where and how health care can be delivered.

As an anchor institution, we are not only focused on the health and well-being of our patients within our walls, but also on the factors outside of our walls that impact our patients’ health. ProMedica’s thought leadership on addressing hunger has reached a national scale and has been a catalyst for multiple initiatives that address hunger in local communities. And as a not-for-profit health system, we understand the need to offer support services and facilitate economic development in the regions we serve. Thankfully, we have partnered with many donors to raise millions of dollars to change our communities.

compassionate ProMedica Senior Care ProMedica Senior Care, formerly HCR ManorCare, is dedicated to providing compassionate quality care no matter where a patient is in their healthcare journey. As the baby-boom population ages, their expectations and needs continue to expand. Our network provides the support they need — conveniently, safely and compassionately. Many hospital patients need additional support after a hospital stay, before returning home. Depending on the level of care needed, ProMedica Senior Care services can be provided at home, in a skilled nursing and rehabilitation center, assisted/independent living facility or memory care community.

Beyond the Hospital Walls A National Leader in Addressing Social Determinants of Health When most people think of health care, they tend to think of clinical and medical care. Yet this only accounts for 20% of a person’s health and well-being. The other 80% includes the social determinants of health (SDOH) – the physical environment, social/economic factors and health behaviors that impact health. For more than 10 years, ProMedica has been a pioneer in this effort and has become the national leader in SDOH thought, innovation and action. We see an unprecedented opportunity to improve health outcomes and reduce healthcare costs. That’s why we’re committed to an all-in strategy that encompasses efforts within our clinical, academic and research enterprises as well as community outreach, interventions and investments.

Reimagining Ourselves with Healthy Aging Institute To meet the demands of an aging population that is expected to double over the next 20 years, health care must position itself to coordinate care across multiple health delivery channels. The ProMedica Healthy Aging Institute leverages the unique strengths and capabilities of ProMedica and ProMedica Senior Care to help redefine healthy aging, provide a best-in-class experience to the nation’s growing senior population, and drive positive reform. The institute’s structure is grounded in innovation and research, education and training, and advocacy.

ProMedica International

ProMedica Innovations started out in late 2012 with the goal of helping local inventors, employees and community members develop and commercialize intellectual property around health care, with the intent to improve patient care and change people’s lives. In less than five years, our worldclass facility has served as a launch pad for some of the technologies we are creating. Notably we have attracted $50+ million in venture capital and state of Ohio funding to the area, developed five new companies and issued 15 patents and patents pending.

ProMedica has established itself as a premier healthcare solution provider in China, assisting our Chinese partners and clients in succeeding in an evolving healthcare industry. ProMedica expertise is also contributing to the Healthy China 2030 strategic national plan, in the areas of health priority, reform and innovation, scientific development, and justice and equality. In only a few short years, ProMedica International has developed a U.S.-based Traditional Chinese Medicine program, collaborated on clinical and operational improvement programs and implemented post-acute consultation and implementation services.
