summer camps
Since 1910, the Hendersonville area’s abundant open spaces and fresh air have made it a magnet for young people and their parents seeking outdoor adventure at the region's many summer camps.
More than a century later, Hendersonville and the surrounding communities offer the largest assortment of summer camps in the United States.
Camp Greystone and Camp Mondamin, both established around 1920, are some of the country’s oldest continually operating summer camps. Nearly two dozen camps call the region home today, offering both religious-based and secular experiences that teach children valuable life skills while having fun in a safe, natural environment.
Hendersonville’s summer camps preserve vast amounts of forests, lakes and other natural resources while offering generations of visitors invaluable lessons in enjoying the great outdoors and caring for our country’s natural heritage.
Many parents add a long weekend to the front or back end of their children’s summer camp experience, creating an extended family vacation among the beauty and adventure of North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains.
