Fostering collaboration was a top priority for this new translational health science building in order to advance healthcare delivery by integrating science, education and clinical programs. The design for the new Parkland Hospital is distinctly about this medical center’s relevance in connecting to the city’s urban fabric, and its importance as a civic anchor. Connecting with the community and landscape, the design team integrated the county’s slogan, “Where the Metro meets the Mountains,” throughout this replacement hospital. Our staff authored the book, “Evidence-based Design for Healthcare Facilities,” based on our own research, which explores the use of evidence-based design concepts in the planning, programming and design of healthcare facilities.
