SEASON PROGRAMME AUTUMN

Dear audience! It has been said that Sønderborg is an example that great things also happen in smaller places. If this is true then this year’s experiences at Alsion are testament to such a statement. This autumn our beautiful concert hall will amongst other events, provide a framework for one of the major, nationwide cultural events: the Crown Prince Couple Awards 2012, a large scale show broadcast live on DR 1. We are both pleased and proud to announce that Sønderborg has been selected to host such a prestigious and meaningful celebration of cultural life in Denmark. However there is little time to dwell on this announcement as in November we will also host the CSR AWARDS 2012 back in Sønderborg, which will inevitably bring the whole city buzzing to life... which will also include a key note speech by Bill Clinton at Alsion. And then there many looking forward to the many other prestigious events on offer such as appearances by the magnificent South Jutland Symphony Orchestra and Sønderborg Theatrical Society which guarantee exciting and rich experiences. We should also mention the hugely successful Solo Artists in Café Alsion where Simon Rosenbaum constantly performs to sold-out audiences this time in the company of, amongst others, Dario Campeotto and the rest of the talented Rosenbaum family. You can also experience both classical and modern ballet performed at the highest standard and also a wonderful production of Mozart’s classic opera The Marriage of Figaro. Be entertained by the wit and humour of Mick Øgendahl or be enthralled by Ghita Nørby and Lars Hannibal’s beautiful rendition of storytelling and music. There is also much more on the programme – all for your enjoyment. So from all of us behind the scenes, we want to welcome you to Alsion Concert Hall and be entertained. DECEMBER BACH’S CHRISTMAS ORATORIO

THE NUTCRACKER CLASSCIAL BALLET

PER NIELSEN CHRISTMAS CONCERT 2012

13th December, 8pm

14th December, 7.30pm

15th December, 7.30pm

The South Jutland Symphony Orchestra once again this year presents one of the Christmas classics, which for many has become indispensible with the December month. The conductor for this event will be the Englishman Stephen Layton. The choir has its own symphony orchestra, namely The Philharmonic Choir at Alice Granum.

Last year’s show was sold out so quickly that many were unfortunately unable to attend this timeless Christmas adventure for the whole family. Fortunately, it was possible to reassemble to the impressive set up back at Sønderborg so it is once again possible to experience the event featuring more than 100 participants from The Tatar State Symphony Orchestra.

Alongside Per Nielsen on tour is organist Mads Granum and violist Alexandri Radu. However, Alsion will also host an extra special treat as Thomas Ovesen joins the event on bass along with Martin Klausen on drums – not to mention the wonderful acting and popular Julie Berthelsen as a soloist here at Alsion!
