10 Terrifying Diseases That Can Be Caught from Pets

Although pets are fun to have around and some of them serve as the most loyal friends, you can catch terrifying diseases from your lovely pet if you don’t take care. Tapeworm Although tapeworms are mostly caught by eating undercooked meat, they can be caught by dealing with pets. T. gondii can be transferred from a pregnant mother to her baby through the placenta. That is why it is recommended for ladies who wish to get pregnant or are pregnant to stay away from cats, especially the cat-box. 5. Black Death We might hear of the Black Death and other plagues as part of history, but even though plague doesn’t appear as an epidemic, it still exists. Plagues are not only caught from rats, but also from various rodents and even cats. You can notice the bubonic plague symptoms in cats appearing as enlarged lymph nodes, anorexia and fever. 4. Salmonellosis Salmonella bacteria are usually caught from eating contaminated food or raw eggs. However, Salmonella can also infect people through contact with all kinds of pets, especially reptiles like lizards, snakes and turtles. Salmonellosis symptoms in humans include abdominal cramps, diarrhea and fever. 3. Query Fever This fever, caused by the Coxiella Burnetti bacteria, got its name from having an unknown origin. Q fever is usually linked to sheep, goats and cattle but it can also infect various house pets. It is transferred to humans by breathing in the bacteria, drinking unpasteurized milk or getting a tick bite. 2. Rabies Rabies is one of the well-known pet diseases that can be easily noticed in mammals as they would have foam around their mouths and crazy eyes.
