Most Common Mistakes You Do While Brushing Your Teeth

..................................................................................................... We make sure to brush our teeth twice daily to maintain clean teeth and a fresh breathe. But did you know that there are certain common mistakes we perform during the process that causes damage to our teeth and gums? Look out from the following widespread mistakes: You Don’t Look at a Mirror : If you’re not watching where you brush, you’re making it easy to overlook any wedged food particles as well as miss out brushing the gum line and the back molars where microbes can build up. Not Using the Right Technique : Brushing teeth side-to-side makes it crack and loosen. While brushing your teeth, brush in circles holding the brush at a 45 degree angle. Brush a set of teeth at a time then move to the next. When you’re done, gently brush at the gum line. Brushing Too Hard : Brushing your teeth hard from side-to-side scratches your gums creating abfraction lesions. These are notches that can go deep into the tooth’s layer causing a great deal of damage.

You Don’t Brush Enough : You may be in a rush in the early morning and brush your teeth in a hurry. But for your brushing to really count, you need at least 2 to 3 minutes of brushing. You Use the Wrong Toothpaste and Wrong Brush : Toothpaste with baking soda is quite aggressive on your enamel, so is a hard toothbrush. Soft brushes are the best option to lessen the damage. You also need to change your toothbrush every 3 months and after every handle, wash it with warm water and let it fully dry. You Don’t Floss : Flossing is compulsory. When you floss between your teeth, you reach areas a normal toothbrush can’t reach. Such areas hold a lot of bacteria that release damaging chemicals. You Don’t Rinse : When you rinse after brushing or flossing your teeth, you’re spitting out the bacteria and plaque you already set free. An alcohol-free mouthwash is also recommended.
