WHY “NHIC”? “NHIC” follows Existing Architecture of HRSA Funded National AIDS Education and Training Centers - NCCC – National HIV/AIDS Clinicians Consultation Center - NRC – National Resource Center - NEC – National Evaluation Center - NMC – National Multicultural Center - NHIC – National HIV Integration Center (proposed) “NHIC” is accessible, self-explanatory, memorable, and easily identifiable. “NHIC” is consumer oriented and promotional. The mission of this center is to serve more than just other AETCs, but to broaden HIV training and education to organizations and populations unfamiliar with the work of AETCs. “NHIC” is broad in scope to accommodate future audiences, services, and strategic goals. Ensures future utility of “NHIC” beyond community health centers and HIV treatment and care. “NHIC” builds upon the lessons learned with Supporting Networks of HIV Care by Enhancing Primary Medical Care (SNHC by EPMC): - As noted in the Office of Performance Review, the name -- SNHC by EPMC -- was identified as unwieldy, difficult to remember, difficult to search. - SNHC by EPMC was difficult even to those familiar with the project. - SNHC by EPMC was not intuitive making promotion of the project difficult
