This innovative feature enhances audibility and clarity of high-frequency sounds by compressing and shifting them to a lower, less damaged frequency range of the hearing system.

For patients with high-frequency hearing loss, especially if it is more severe, attempting to amplify these high frequencies with the traditional “increase of loudness” will often cause distortion of the sounds.

This occurs because the nerve fibers (hair cells) are damaged to such an extent that they are unable to send a clear signal to the brain, making these sounds fuzzy. With SoundRecover patients have been able to distinguish sounds like the /s/, /f/, /t/, /th/ and /sh/ that were not achievable with traditional digital technologies.
