Welcome to JBS® USA, a family of proud brands with rich traditions. JBS USA includes our U.S., Mexico, Canada and Australia operations. Our diversified platform includes beef, pork, poultry, lamb, further processed and consumer ready protein offerings, hides, leather, variety meats and rendered products. In partnership with JBS S.A., our Brazilian-based parent company, the united JBS family represents the largest animal protein company in the world with production platforms and facilities in countries including the United States, Canada, Mexico, Australia, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay and more than 200,000 team members working hard every day to be the best in all they do. From our humble beginnings as a small, family-owned beef company started by our founder, José Batista Sobrinho (JBS), in the rolling savannas of Goiás, Brazil, in 1953, to our evolution into the world leader in protein with operations all around the globe, JBS has been guided by the same core values. Determination, Humility, Discipline, Availability, Sincerity, Simplicity and Ownership.
These values have led JBS from a single packing plant in South America, to the leading provider of meat protein in the world. And these values will continue to serve as our foundation and our strength as we venture through the 21st century -- a century of challenge, but of even greater opportunity. Our global population will reach a staggering 9+ billion by the year 2050, and as our world grows, so do the needs of her global citizens. Our collective challenge is to provide this growing world with the nutritious, safe, and affordable food it requires in a sustainable manner that respects our planet’s resources and secures a strong, prosperous course for future generations. The JBS team stands ready to meet this, the great challenge of our time. Will you join us?

Keeping Colleagues and the Community Safe at Passavant
Safety has always been the top priority at Passavant Area Hospital (PAH). But as the COVID-19 pandemic began to affect Morgan County and the surrounding region, Passavant leaders and staff took action to ensure patients could access the care they needed in the safest way possible. “We’ve taken our safety measures to the next level,” PAH president and CEO Dr. Scott Boston said. “Everyone at Passavant has a role to play in those efforts, and I’m so proud of how our colleagues have responded.” Passavant is an affiliate of Springfield-based Memorial Health System, a relationship that allows patients and staff alike to access the resources of a larger healthcare organization while still enjoying the friendly atmosphere and individualized care of a smaller, hometown hospital. “Memorial has been a leader in the COVID-19 response across our region,” Dr. Boston said. “We’ve benefited so much from the ability to share resources with our affiliate hospitals.” At the same time, he added, Passavant leaders have shared ideas and learned from what’s going on across the health system. “Without that collaboration and cooperation, we wouldn’t have been able to mobilize services like testing sites and drive-up labs so quickly,” he said. “This experience has really highlighted the benefits of being part of a larger health system.”
Compassion and innovation Like many of her colleagues, affiliate vice president and chief nursing officer Leanna Wynn has deep roots in the community. She has spent her career at Passavant since graduating from the hospital’s former nursing school in 1979. “One of the great things about nursing, and all our clinical roles here at Passavant, is the opportunity to keep learning,” she said. “The COVID-19 pandemic has been a very different
kind of learning experience for all of us. This virus is less than a year old, and like healthcare professionals around the world, we’re learning more every day about the best ways to treat and prevent it.” The nursing team at Passavant has received Magnet® designation—one of nursing’s highest honors—three consecutive times. To achieve that honor, nursing professionals must show a commitment to continuous learning and improvement, using data and innovative methods to improve the quality of the care they provide. “The work we do to increase patient safety is one of the biggest reasons we’ve been able to perform at such a high level,” Wynn said. Patients who are wondering whether it’s safe to get care at Passavant can be reassured by those efforts, Dr. Boston said. “It’s natural that people are feeling apprehensive about going to a clinic or hospital during this time,” he said. “But our leaders and our staff are going above and beyond with cleaning, screening and other measures designed to keep our community safe.” High-tech tools and dedication Members of Passavant’s Environmental Services (EVS) team are on the front lines of infection prevention efforts, working around the clock to keep the hospital clean and free from potentially harmful viruses and bacteria. “Most people probably don’t realize that we have a lot of high-tech tools available to keep our patient care areas clean and safe,” said Kerri Barton, manager of Environmental Services at Passavant. “For high-risk areas like operating rooms, we use some advanced cleaning technology, including robots.” Recently, a multi-year gift to the Passavant Area Hospital Foundation from the Maurice C. Funk Trust Fund allowed PAH to purchase a third Tru-D Smart UVC Disinfection Robot. These ro-
bots are used in patient care areas to help stop the spread of dangerous hospital-acquired infections. But Barton said her department’s real strength lies in the commitment of its staff. Even the latest technology is no substitute for dedication, diligence and attention to detail. “We’re so much more than just housekeepers,” she said. “Our EVS colleagues know how crucial their roles are in preventing the spread of illness within our hospital. They get extensive education and training in infection prevention techniques. This is a great job for anyone who wants to know they’re making a difference.” Learn more about joining the team at Passavant Area Hospital and Memorial Health System at Jobs.ChooseMemorial.org.
