By Tom Greene Staff writer

he 38th annual Harbor Beach Christmas Parade will return this year to get residents in the holiday spirit. The parade will be held at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, with the parade route starting at Harbor Beach City Hall and continuing eastbound on State Street to M-25. It will then turn south onto Trescott Street. “There will be no parking on the south side of M-142 and State Street from City Hall to Fifth Street,” committee organizer Debbie Brandow said. “There will also be no parking on both sides of 142 and State St. from Third St. (Speedy Q) to the traffic light.” The parade committee that organizes the event includes Debbie Brandow, Shelli Arntz, Tammy Holdwick, and Tammy Roberts, who have done so for the past few years. Harbor Beach High School students are also included in the committee. The committee will continue to accept applications right up until the parade starts. Some of the participating groups include the high school marching band, law enforcement agencies, fire departments, and Santa

Claus at the end of the parade, with all kinds of entries welcome. “We encourage as much interaction between parade participants and spectators as possible,” Brandow said. “Costumed characters and walkers handing out ‘goodies’ are a big hit. We hope everyone will come enjoy the night with us and see what the parade entries have for their Christmas theme.” After the parade is over, residents will have the chance to vote on their top three floats in the parade. The parade committee will then announce the top three entries on the Harbor Beach Christmas Parade Facebook page. The winners will be announced Sunday, Dec. 3, at around 12:30 p.m. Also after the parade, Brandow said there will be a tree lighting ceremony on the Frank Murphy Museum lawn. Santa will be there, and those in attendance can get pictures with Santa. “This will be our first Harbor Beach tree lighting, so please join us to light up the tree.” Brandow said. Anyone who wants to get involved with the parade can call or text Brandow at 989-670-8639. More information on the parade can be found by visiting the Harbor Beach Christmas Parade Facebook Page.

The annual Christmas parade returns to Harbor Beach Saturday, Dec. 2.
