District officers found an 18-year-old man suffering a stab wound to his chest. He was reportedly injured after a verbal altercation with another man, not known to him, at the shopping centre. He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before been taken to Murwillumbah

A crime scene was established and following inquiries, a 19-year-old man was arrested at a Murwillumbah address a short time later. He was taken to Tweed Heads Police Station where he was charged with reckless wounding. The Tweed Shire man was refused bail and appeared at Tweed Heads Local Court on Friday, September 8.
