EDITORS' LETTER We hope you are enjoying your summer! We love Des Moines in the summertime. In this issue we're excited to bring you two beautiful ‘It’s My Big Day’ wedding features and a styled shoot elopement in Hawaii! Would you elope? After looking at this Hawaiian elopement in Oahu, you may decide to book your travel. Grace T. Photography packed her bags, including a beautiful Dame & Maiden dress and headed to the islands. What more do you need?! Luckily some other local vendors provided jewelry, suits and more to make this styled shoot come to life. Grace captures the beauty of an intimate day with picturesque views. (pp. 8– 14) In our ‘It’s My Big Day’ section, we feature two local couples. First, we have India & Corey's Boho wedding that felt more like a festival in a meadow. Complete with beverage burro, food trucks, and a huge LOVE sign. (pp. 16 – 23) Next, we have Brittany and Eli's downtown Industrial I-do's at Bash! The groom's father created one-of-a-kind industrial centerpieces and they are amazing. TIPS FOR ELOPING: Have an intimate ceremony that's just the two of you, but when you return, throw an epic party with your friends and family. Hire a professional photographer to come with you or hire someone locally, then announce your wedding with a picture from your elopement. Elope now, but make plans to have a special ten-year anniversary party. Consider carefully where you want to marry and look into the marriage license laws. Many places don't allow you to apply for a license and marry on the same day.

Her name is Charlotte and she's a beverage burro. C'MON!?
This summer tale starts in the heart of winter when we’re all feeling a little merry and bright. There were parties aplenty, so India and Corey decided they needed time to celebrate just for them. That meant slices of pizza (Corey’s favorite) and opening presents. Corey wanted to have a little fun with his most special gift, so their cat, Sugar Daddy (Sugs for short) delivered the ring box to India! It was a perfect way for Corey to propose, simple, and just the two of them. As the couple started to plan, they knew they wanted a wedding where people could relax and be themselves. “The words I heard myself repeating a lot was free-spirited.” India told us. So they decided to choose an outdoor space, invite in food trucks, and create all sorts of extra “summer vibe” details. It created the perfect atmosphere where everyone could relax. An important part of all of it was flowers. Growing up with a mom like Shelly Sarver (as in Shelly Sarver Designs), you better believe India knew exactly what kind of floral she wanted. And it really guided their color scheme, beautiful pinks, corals, and ivories, surrounded by tons of greenery. And so many others helped make the HEART LANDWEDDINGIDEAS.COM

day fabulous. Gina, of Make it Happen Events, orchestrated the day from dawn to dusk. And photographer Aly Carroll captured every last smile, hug, laugh, and tear. We love that so many friends and family were what made their day special. A giant “Love” sign was the focal point to the day, handmade by India’s Dad and Grandpa. It was perfect for photo ops and lit up behind the head table as the night partied on. And you know how much we love animals in weddings, right? Well. Have you seen Charlotte the Beverage Burro?!? We can’t get enough of her! She roamed the grounds during cocktail hour making sure the guests had something cold to drink. The most memorable part of the day for the couple was pulling up to the venue, decorated and ready to go. “It gave us chills,” India told us. And that’s hard in the heat of the summer! “Make sure you relax and enjoy the day! Let other people take care of you and sit back to take it all in. It goes by so fast.”

INDUSTRIAL I-DO's With the perfect ring, Eli was waiting for the perfect moment. He carried the ring around in his pocket and waited. And waited. And waited for the moment to get down on one knee. Eli soon realized that it any moment with Brittany was the perfect moment. On a long walk through the trails of Centerville, Eli’s grand plan began to unfold. He got down on one knee and asked Brittany to be his wife. Once the ring slid on Brittany’s finger, her mind began to race.
