Even though Jenna and Tim attended Iowa State University at the same time, fate didn’t happen until they both ended up in Oklahoma City and were introduced through a mutual friend at a baseball game. Lucky for Tim, Jenna had the night off, as wedding planners often work the weekend shift. The rest is history and Tim proposed where it was most comfortable, their home. Being a wedding planner and owning a venue, Jenna has seen it all and has had a hand in over 1,000 weddings in her career and has probably always been subconsciously building her future wedding. Because of this, she had a clear vision and knew she wanted two things, lots of colorful flowers and tons of textured linens. When it came to florals, she had often worked with her cousin Mary Steele on florals, and it was truly exciting and important for Jenna to have her be a part of their special day. For the linens, they worked with Beyond Elegance and figured out what materials would showcase the neutral textures they envisioned. Jenna’s mom and aunts learned how to make wedding cakes from their mother and have been making all their families cakes. So it was only fitting that they would create the ultimate wedding cake. They kept with the theme and embellished with bright florals and lots of texture on each layer. (They even named their cake business, “Take It or Leave It”) The hardest part of the planning process came down to the dress. Jenna ended up creating her own and enlisted in help from Modern Dress and KN Designs in

Boone, IA. She fell in love with a skirt and had the top custom designed. She loved working with Karen and Colby from KN Designs and they were able to pull together her dream dress in only a couple months. Since Jenna is used to giving her clients advice, she left us with this, “Wine and dine your guests, they have taken a lot of time to focus on you, and your reception is a way to thank them. As much as your wedding day is a celebration of you and your significant other, it is also about all of the people who have played a part in your lives to get you both where you are, which is happily married to one another!” We couldn’t agree more!

While attending a baseball game for an alumni event for the Peace Corps, That's where Teri locked eyes on Patrick. Luckily Teri’s friend worked with Patrick at the Peace Core headquarters. Her friend was immediately on a mission and played cupid. When it came time for the proposal Patrick took her back to the place where they exchanged their first “I love yous” surrounded by 100 candlelit luminaries, she immediately said YES. Next, they enjoyed a bottle of champagne, while calling their parents to share the exciting news. The whole proposal was a huge surprise to Teri because she thought they were crashing someone else’s proposal since it was her idea to take the walk! Patrick was able to put the idea in her head through weeks of hints and slight nudges. Teri and Patrick’s relaxed personalities came through when they started planning their wedding. They had a colorful, bohemian wedding and asked their guests to put their guard down and try something new. I get your run on with normally, but something doesn't sound right in the sentence. This meant people who normally rent a motor-home or stay at a hotel were now going glamping, people who never rode the train were now riding one to come across the, people shucking their own organic popcorn who would just microwave Jiffy Pop. Instead of a traditional reception, they wanted their guests to enjoy an intimate weekend with the couple sharing laughter and meaningful

conversations. They provided meals, accommodations, complete with a hand-built dance floor and altar, which the father of the groom created from recycled temporary school classroom trailers. It was overall super unique and personal, turning the whole farm into a wedding venue and glamping hotel. With Teri's background in interior design she was able to pull together a one-of-a-kind look, sourcing materials from her business NAFASI interiors. For the couple, it was a fun experience to dream up the perfect wedding festival and plan 6 different parties for their guests and create different ways for them to have fun and build relationships with each other. 26
