Anticipating a ring this holiday season? We hope so! We can't wait for you to see our Nov/Dec issue. We teamed up with Ingenue Boudoir, Amour Lingerie Shop and Plum Design & Events at AC Hotel by Marriott to bring you the latest in boudoir fashion. We love how a boudoir shoot gives women a newfound self confidence, beauty and swagger. See our style shoot on p. 8. As always, we have our “It's My Big Day” starting on p. 20. It's our favorite part of the magazine because we love to see how our HWI brides break traditions and make the day their own. Whether your theme is rustic, chic, traditional, romantic or vintage we always love the flair you create to make it represent your relationship. Jessica and Matt's wedding is on 24 acres at the Red Acre Barn. It’s a perfect blend of rustic, elegance, and beauty that provides the picturesque backdrop for our first wedding. We heart long veils!
Jessica and Matt had known each other for years, but it wasn’t until Jessica moved back to Des Moines in 2016 that they finally had a chance to say more than a quick “hello” to one another. It wasn’t long after getting reacquainted that they were dating, and 6 months later … engaged! It was the holiday season when Matt popped the question. He suggested to Jessica that they start some of their own traditions and wanted to make dinner together as a way to kick off the season. As they finished eating, Matt picked an early gift from their Christmas tree for Jessica to open. It was an ornament frame with a photo of them and THE RING! He quickly got down on one knee and proposed. It wasn’t long after Jessica said yes that her family all came in to surprise her. It was an amazing night for everyone. Jessica and Matt wanted their wedding day vendors to feel like an extension of their family, people they knew they could trust to see their vision through. Sherry Peterson, their photographer and owner of Red Acre Barn, understood from the beginning. She helped them through many details. Jessica’s good friend, Melissa Hoffman, also put her heart into the florals

and handmade touches. The bouquet she made brought tears to Jessica’s eyes it was so beautiful and full of love. All of their wedding day vendors had creative freedom to bring their own special touches to the day. Finally, their day was here, and it was one of the summer’s hottest! Their nieces and nephews helped by handing out programs and umbrellas for shade against the hot July sun. The walk down the aisle was lined with beautiful oriental rugs, which now adorns their home’s entryway. A constant reminder of their day. The party to follow was full of blessings, laughter and happy tears. Everyone enjoyed an Iowa inspired menu from the caterer, Mary Smith. She prepared it family style giving guests a chance to converse with people at their table. And to end the night, The Dueling Pianos of Mike Leeds and Andy Anderson. The night was Jessica and Matt’s perfect day, with so much love and gratitude in their hearts for everyone who attended. It made for such a special day.

Sarah and Luke wanted to make their wedding date memorable, so they picked to share their wedding anniversary with Sarah’s parents. With the true anniversary being on Sunday, they picked the day before, September 16th, so they could always share that memory together. When their wedding arrived they knew they needed to honor her parents, so when it was close to midnight they played the song they danced to 34 years ago, “Make it with you,” by Bread. It was only fitting that Sarah and Luke joined them on the dance floor. To get ready for the dance they took lessons at the dance avenue by Donovan Chestnut. Sarah recommends weekly date nights at dance class for other couples planning their wedding. They had a blast learning to ballroom dance. When it came to their vendors they knew exactly who they wanted. Anna Jones Photography was a must have for their wedding day as they were drawn to her vision for details and unique perspective, they were very happy with the end results.

A LED dance floor, white orchids, white leather furniture, ghost chairs, balloon installation (Maya had tried to hire a balloon installation company, but after striking out, decided she would do some research and

The rain didn’t worry the couple because they had complete trust in Maya’s talents and planning. 15 minutes before walking down the aisle at Simon Estes the rain stopped. And if that wasn’t enough as soon as the recessional song “Here Comes the Sun” played, the sky parted and the sun came out! It didn’t rain again until 10 minutes after the band played their final song. The night was absolutely perfect!
