Is it just us, or is there hope in the air! With spring and vaccines around the corner, we are feeling some relief. It's hard to think about all the things you're going to do when the world starts to turn back on. And one of the things that excite us is to see more couples getting their day in 2021. We know that some of our readers had to put their wedding on hold, and we can't wait for them to finally get their happily ever after. Have you seen the new Surety Hotel?! Well, if you haven't, this styled shoot features the latest gem of downtown Des Moines. Jason Crocker captured the beautifully restored architecture and unique details throughout the hotel. We love the mix of mid-century modern elegance with nods to the building's original tenants. There are so many spaces you'll find for beautiful photos. Our first feature wedding in our "It's My Big Day" section is Maddie + Jack. The Salisbury House is stunning. And was perfect for the theme the bride had in mind, French Chateau meets backyard vibes. The second wedding is our cover couple Amber + Will's boho plus vintage flair. The bride's creativity is evident in all of the floral—she made all the arrangements! And her sister decorated the reception. We are always amazed by the D.I.Y. details our couples bring to their wedding day.

Amber and Will is a classic love story. Texas boy meets Iowa girl and falls in love, oh and Snapchat and a dog. This is a modern love story, after all. It’s hard to pull off a surprise engagement without suspicion and that was the case here. As Amber and Will were in Texas driving around the mountains taking family photos, he dropped to one knee when the camera turned on them. With a breathtaking mountain range by Will’s family ranch, it was the perfect moment to propose. As we know, this past year has made planning a wedding interesting, but Amber and Will felt fortunate not to have their wedding postponed — even though the guest list had to be cut in half, safety was top of mind. Keeping things more intimate made it so everyone at their wedding was dear to the couple. Being surrounded by everyone who had supported and loved the couple gave such a perspective of their day. Amber wanted a boho theme with vintage flair and her favorite color, yellow. The couple didn’t hire a florist, because the bride wanted to create their floral arrangements for the day.
