Volunteer Opportunities for Spring 2015 Tuesday, April 7th, 2015 to Friday, May 29th Hundreds of lives are impacted every day with the support of our volunteers. HOLA volunteers become part of our mission of providing our kids a life full of positive development and new opportunities. We have many opportunities for the Spring quarter in which you, a relative or a friend could help make a difference in the Los Angeles community. If you can give as little as two hours a week, we want you! Please see below for a list of opportunities: SmartStart/Elementary School Tutors/Homework Assistance: We are looking for volunteers to help students with their homework assignments in language arts, writing, math, science and social studies. Volunteers will provide one-to-one assistance when supplemental help is needed. Volunteer hours requested: Tutoring hours Mon.-Thurs. from 2:30pm -6:00pm. Elementary Tutor: We are looking for volunteers with experience working with youth and tutoring elementary aged students in the core subjects of math and language arts. Volunteerwill work one-on-one with students and provide additional academic support to students. Volunteer hours requested: Mon.-Thurs. from 3:30pm -5:00pm or Fri. 3:30pm 5:30pm. Girls on the Run Running Buddy: We are looking for volunteers that are motivated, enthusiastic, energetic, outdoor loving (preferably ladies) that will help train and run with SmartStart 4-5th grade girls who will be runing a 5K in May. Volunteers will serve as running buddies and supervisor, must be consistent with hours and assist coach in outdoor activities. Volunteer hours requested: Tues. 4:30pm- 6:00pm and Fri. 4:00pm5:30pm Bridges/Middle School Tutors/Homework Assistance: We are looking for volunteers to help students with their homework assignments in language arts, writing, math, science and social studies. Volunteers will provide one-to-one assistance when supplemental help is needed. Volunteer hours requested: Tutoring hours M & W from 4:00pm-6:30pm and/or Tues & Thur from 4:30pm -5:30pm. ART VAD Research Assistant: We are looking for a research intern that will help with program evaluation, compile best practices and help create a program hadbook. We are looking for someone who is enrolled in college or is a recent graduate. Volunteer hours can be determined by volunteer’s schedule. Volunteer hours requested: 5-10 hours per week. Teacher Assistant: We are looking for volunteers to assist our students and instructors in their classes. Classes that need assistance are painting, new media, drawing, sculpture, mixed media, printing and/or ceramics. Volunteer hours requested: Mon.-Thurs. from 4:30pm-6:30pm; & Fri. from 3:30pm-5:30pm. Academic Tutor: We are looking for volunteers to provide homework support for Art Focus students. Volunteers will provide one-to-one assistance when supplemental help is needed. Volunteer hours requested: Mon.-Wed. from 3:30pm - 4:30pm.
