Your favourite Lake District pubs

Our story in the Spring 2021 Lakes Magazine about Terry Abraham and his favourite pub, The Strands in Wasdale, got you all talking about which is your favourite pub.

Who doesn’t love a visit to a pub? We have probably hundreds throughout Cumbria and the Lake District, from traditional inns with roaring fires and steeped in history, to tiny bars, serving Cumbrian’s take on tapas, trendy spots for a cocktail or champagne and many of our favourites with fantastic beer gardens and views. And of course, many of them are dog-friendly, and will serve you amazing food too.

Here’s a few of your recommendations:

‘The Golden Rule in Ambleside. It’s a true pub with no distractions, just interesting locals, friendly bar staff, good tap beers including Dizzy Blonde! Plenty of dogs, a warming fire and a super landlord and team”

‘The Unicorn in Ambleside has the most fabulous folk nights and such a friendly atmosphere’

And here’s a quick name check of some more of your favourites. The Sun, Coniston The Wilsons, Torver Royal Oak, Ambleside Old Dungeon Ghyll, Langdale Tower Bank Arms, Far Sawrey Hare and Hounds, Levens Ennerdale Brewery, Rowrah The Royal Oak, Bowness The Wheatsheaf, Brigsteer The Albion, Arnside Watermillock, Ings Queens Head, Troutbeck Brook House Inn, Boot Britannia Inn, Elterwater Dog and Gun, Keswick

Many of you said, “I’ll settle for any at the moment!” - which we can totally agree with and we’re enjoying supporting our local pubs and bars as we move into summer.
