An Indian elephant carrying a howdah on its back. The venerable Asian elephant is still used for transport and processions all over India, and is highly respected in many religions.

Inspired by M.C. Escher’s work, a bead with migrating birds. The contour of one bird is also the contour of the next ... Some are flying up north and others are flying down south.

mETTE sAABYE Mette Saabye was born in 1969 and is professionally educated as a jeweler. She has studied jewelry design in Florence at Fuji Studio and at the Institute of Precious Metals from which she graduated in 1996. She has since worked as a designer and jewelry artist. Mette Saabye is one of Danish jewelry art's most acclaimed experimental artists. In recent years, she has worked with jewelry that relates to identity, perception of reality and the individual's sense of what is precious and unique. She also works with completely downto-earth sources of inspiration like the craft and its possibilities, function, beauty, ornamentation and the relationship between body and jewelry.

Sun Circle Just like the sunflower turns its head towards the sun, this sun circle will turn you toward your sun and guide you safely through life.

Mette Saabye has received numerous prestigious awards for her work including the St. Loye prize, which is Copenhagen Goldsmiths Guild’s prestigious recognition for young talent, Biennale Prize for Crafts and Design and the Government Arts’ 3 year work grant.

Lise AAgaard “Coming from a family of jewelers, I have had the lifelong privilege of being immersed in a constant learning environment of art, form and material. Always facing the possibilities and boundaries of innovation from a professional point of view. I can honestly say that I am inspired by anything and everything. Diversity ignites my curiosity in life as well as in the worlds of metal, precious stones, pearls, amber and glass. Tomas Cenius “I have worked as a Goldsmith for Lise Aagaard since the summer of 2000. Surrounded by Trollbeads morning to evening, it had to happen - I designed my first bead. My family name is Schumann, the name of a famous Danish traveling circus. Søren Nielsen once said to me, with a name like that you ought to make circus jewelry! That's why my first bead is a circus clown.”

The autodidact designer Tomas Cenius describes his style as clean Nordic design combined with figurative forms. He began his career modeling comic book figures in clay before learning the art of wax modeling from Søren Nielsen. Under Søren's tutelage Tomas became a master of the craft and gained notoriety for the exquisite 'Seasons' ring. He has created jewelry for Denmark's Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary, but prefers designing jewelry that anyone can afford and enjoy.

Midnight Flower In the middle of the night they appear – floating freely in the dark, lit only by moonlight and imagination.

"Essentially my goal is to make beautiful jewelry that touches people. I give the same attention to every piece, whether it is for the Royal couple or the lady next door. "When I work with Trollbeads I like the fact that I design something that defines human emotions."

Thor Høy “Everywhere I go, I get inspiration for a new lamp, furniture, interior design of a machine or a Trollbead. It may be in the wild or in town, on a trip or at home with my son, in industry or in art, among animals and humans. Trollbeads can accommodate both the graphic and imaginative, the logical and the adventurous, and I am proud to be part of it.“

“I have been on the team developing the Trollbeads concept from the first day. It is necessary to be familiar with and to understand how to craft the beads but at the same time to understand how to use modern techniques. This way, we can offer unique jewelry to the market and at reasonable prices. For me, it is an exciting challenge to combine the creative spirit with modern production methods.”

Jytte Kløve Goldsmith Jytte Kløve has just completed 25 years of her very active career. She has an impressive number of exhibitions both at home and abroad. She has also been honored by numerous awards and grants. Jytte works from her own workshop in Lyngby, Denmark and describes her creative process like this:

“It is fascinating to work with Trollbeads, because Trollbeads is really the essence of what jewelry is all about - jewelry becomes a type of talisman for us and gets a very personal significance for the people who wear it every day. We build a relationship with jewelry from the moment we get it, maybe as a gift from a lover, and expand day by day this relationship and the jewelry's importance to us.

“I am standing at the helm of a ship sailing into the future. My cargo is securely stowed in the hold below me. The view from the bridge is wonderful - no two outlooks on the real world are alike. Each day brings a new sunrise, new colors, because each morning adds yet another day to life and anything can happen.”

“Trollbeads are the perfect supports for these relationships with their various small meanings and universes within themselves. Although we, as designers of Trollbeads, have an idea about them from the outset, we have a clear desire that those who wear them give them a new meaning - that is actually the point. Trefoil Knot This simple knot is found far back in the history of many cultures. The Vikings, Celts and Christians have all used it as decoration in different contexts. With knots, the fact is, the simpler they are the stronger they are.

Svend Nielsen (1917 - 2007) "I started in an apprenticeship with eight others from 1932 to 1937. Charms for bracelets was something totally new…they came from the newspapers to write about it! We made small buckets, rakes and spades to hang from the bracelet - in gold.

Eske Storm Eske Storm graduated as a Goldsmith from Hertz & Jakobsen in Copenhagen, Denmark and from the School of Arts in Tasco, Mexico. He received a bronze medal in 1995 in the Danish Art & Craft competition and opened his own store in 2001 in downtown Copenhagen next door to the Trollbeads headquarters. His customers come from places as diverse as the Royal Palace to the free City of Christiania.

“After finishing my apprenticeship I only stayed for a short while - and after serving in the navy I went to Rome with my friend Carl. In the fall I started with a goldsmith. We worked a lot in white gold and platinum. But not in the summer - then Inga and I biked to Paris and Switzerland.

"I like to work in a realistic universe - you could call it a typical Danish design universe, but maybe it really is in fact my own personal universe. My inspiration comes mainly from my travels around the world and my meeting with local tribal cultures. I'm strongly influenced by old Nordic mythology. You could call what I design space-viking jewelry.

Thor's Hammer

In Nordic mythology, Thor, ’the God of Thunder’, carried a hammer so powerful it could destroy mountains. The hammer, Mjolnir, is a symbol of protection.

"It has been a very natural process for me to work within the Trollbeads universe. I carved my own first bead in Greenlandic soapstone when I was 6-7 years old, at the same time I carved my first miniature elephant, which today has developed into the Elephant Lock."

“Then the Germans attacked Poland redrafted for the security force - sent home - back to white gold and brilliants - then, the 9th of April I applied for a position with Person and Østerberg - old colleagues - it was an easy time for me, they didn't pay attention to my coming and going. “In 1945 I started on my own on Kultorvet and later in Klaraboderne."
