Ears (make 2): Using the same yarn as used for hat, C/O 18 stitches on US10 DPN’s and join. Rows 1-3: Knit all stitches

R4: Needle 1: K1, SSK, Knit remaining stitches Needle 2: K to last 3 stitches, K2tog, K2 Needle 3: K1, SSK, Knit to end Row 5: Knit all stitches Repeat rows 4 & 5 (7 rows) until 6 stitches remain. Next Row: K2tog (3 stitches remain) Next Row : K2tog, K2tog, pull yarn through remaining stitches Bow: Find a yarn that you like for bow. I used a hot pink. C/O desired number of stitches for bows width. Knit all stitches to DOUBLE the desired length of bow. Fold in 1/2 RIGHT SIDES TOGETHER. Seam up sides, leaving a hole large enough for you to turn bow right side out. Then seam up hole. Knit a small band in the same manner (desired width and length in STST) to use to cinch bow in center. Sew this to the bow to secure.

Finishing: Sew ears to top of hat off to the sides, sew bow to either ear. Add kitty facial features (black eyes and wiskers, and a pink nose, remember there is no mouth on a Hello Kitty). I used scrap yarn. HINT: To get proper placement of features I first cut out shapes on sticker paper and stuck them where I wanted them, then removed them one by one as I used yarn to sew on features.
