just east of Key West. In my research, I discovered that the island experienced extensive dredging while being used to house the undesirable facilities of its better known neighbor. I chose to show the chronological development of the coastline, roads and deforestation. From there, I showed the modern zoning and pollution generating facilities.

Solution: The medians are wide enough to hold bike paths between an alley of trees. The roundabout is elongated to hold a park and create a cross axis across the island to connect the public to the ocean and remaining natural areas. The new buildings are mixed use: commercial on the first floor and apartment and office space on the upper levels. The courtyards are uniquely landscaped from one instance to the next and snake around to create an interesting progression.
roundabouts. Surrounding buildings would be redesigned at a more urban scale, with pedestrian courtyards at the center.
Process: To slow traffic, I designed a series of medians and

and meeting spaces into rectangular and square buildings respectively. The overall court is then balanced and connected by the addition of a covered hypostyle hall, a ceremonial ramp and the landmark tower. Spaces are subdivided by shifting the exterior walls, also allowing natural light and ventilation. Louvres in the elevation are also manipulated using the approach of shifting. The louvres extend past the height of the first story to continue the urban scale while adding a sense of transparency. The landscape in the courtyard is permeable concrete, contrasted by a lush garden on the north end.
Solution: The plan is achieved by separating the display

Process: I chose to continue the urban fabric of courtyards

floor creates a concrete forest of branching arches and also makes a cultural connection to Spanish-Moorish architecture evident in the adjacent Freedom Tower. The bus program is kept to the northern side of the tracks serving as an end to the visual axis between the commercial and office programming on the south end. Ticketing is on the elevated garden level directly over the main platform, centered around the lit atrium.
Solution: The hypostyle system of arches on the main
green roof system. The structural system was derived from the theme of a forest supporting this green plane. The massive plane would be divided by courtyards and atria.
Process: I chose to maximize green space by use of a
