----By Dywane Evans Washington High School hosted a teachers vs. seniors dodgeball game on Friday, September 16th. The game was super packed, and we, as the students were extremely hyped and supportive of the senior class. The teachers put up a good fight against our unstoppable senior class, but with the students hyping them up, they came out victorious over the teachers.

"The dodgeball game was pretty fun, but I felt like some of the teachers were cheating," said Meah Grayson, a senior at Washington High School. There were many games played that Friday afternoon and the seniors won all of them. There was a conflict about the teachers cheating. Many teachers were hit and still remained in the game, but overall, it was a good game.

KU Band Day ----By Dywane Evans Washington High School's Marching Wildcats went to Lawrence, KS to participate in KU Band Day on September 9th at 10:00am. Every being

Teacher of the Week: Mr. Schneeberger Mr. SB is a freshman World History teacher, graduated from Leavenworth High School. Before becoming a teacher, he was a radio DJ in Virginia Beach. When asked why did he choose teacher, he said "to have fun and give advice." Also, he has a love for basketball, and if given the chance, he would like to be one of the school basketball coaches.

has a connection to music, but the students in band, also known as "bandheads," take that connection to a whole other level. In Lawrence, Kansas, KU hosts a band day for multiple bands from all around to come together and show off their talents. This also includes KU's band on this day of music appreciation. Tips for Freshmen ----By JonNisha Wells 1. Be on time: Come on time to class, turn all your work in on time, do everything on time photo courtesy of KU School of Music

Band Day, from page 1 Washington's marching band had a nice drive out from Washington High School to Lawrence. The bus rides with the band are very joyous. We like to bond and play games the whole entire ride. When we got to Lawrence and got off our buses, we got a chance to see a little of what the other bands had in store, well before the parade. After we warmed up a little, we went to get in line for the parade; it was time for business. we got in the parade and did what we do best and wowed the crowd the entire time! Once we ended the parade, KU's

band wished to show us how they do things up there in college at KU. We watched them play a couple of tunes and then there were other bands that wanted to battle. We never back down from a battle so the Washington dancers battled the Ruskin High School dancers. It was an amazing battle! After the dancers showed their stuff, the drummers took the stage and played those drums beautifully, and not to mention the cymbal players! Washing High School's marching band went out and represented Washington very well through their musical skills and discipline.

2. Create good relationships: Don't be the kid no one lines, including your teachers 3. Get good grades: Your freshmen year sets the tempo for the rest of high school 4. Get involved: Play a sport or join a club - just do something! 5. Ask for help: Don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it 6. Dating: It can wait! Don't waste your time on a boy or girl. 7. Don't overthink it!: Most things you do in high school last forever 8. Be yourself: Don't try to be in the crowd or fit in with everybody 9. Have fun!

of the movie, where Annabelle possesses one of the orphaned children and manipulates her to commit evil acts ----against the house patrons. As the story line continues Annabelle shows her By Meah Grayson demonic presence, and starts attacking As a lover of scary movies and killing. At the end of the movie Annabelle: Creation is one that I will definitely remember, from the people are dead and Annabelle lives. As expected I will have to give this movie a beginning to the end I was on the edge of my seat in anticipation and 3 out 5 star rating. The story line was generic and cliché! They could have fear. The beginning of the movie starts out slow but still interesting. done more to bring screams to the screen. They should also give new The director keeps the viewers design to the doll; I think it could be attention by giving background about the family, the orphans, and creepier. But other than that the acting most importantly the doll. The real was great and the terror was real! Go check out this movie. fear starts towards the middle

Five Binge Worthy Shows

---By Meah Grayson 1. The Handmaid's Tale So far this year, The handmaid's tale has to be one of the best shows to come out. If you are looking for something new, with a refreshing story plot and great acting than this is the show for you. Handmaid's tale is set in the modern world and during this time a disease has swept over the world and women become infertile. So Christians take over and women are forced to follow the Old Testament by being handmaids. Handmaids are fertile women who become surrogates for high ranked officials and there infertile wives. Once they have the couple's baby the women then leave that families house to have a baby for another high

ranked couple. Best Hulu series ever. 2. American Horror Story This has to be my all-time favorite show, and every season it never disappoints. The show is set up to where every season has different characters, different ideas, but with the same amazing actors. Starring Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, and Lady Gaga played an evil vampire in the last season. But even though every season changes, somehow all of the stories connect. American Horror Story came out without a new season just a couple of days ago called Cult. It comes on Fox every Tuesday at 10, but you can find all the other seasons on Netflix. You won't be disappointed! Binge Worthy, see page 4

Washington Falls to Bears

----By Demond Robinson Friday, September 8, we played in a grudge match against Turner High School in football. It was a defensive battle for most of the game. It was a good fought game on both sides. Unfortunately, we lost to the

Turner Bears 28-6. The score doesn’t tell the story of the game as I thought that we played fairly good defense for most of the game. Our only issue was our offense. It looked pretty stagnant and in place. They just couldn’t get anything going. Football, see page 4

Make a Difference ---By Daisa Smith Whether it is a small change or a very big one, something is better than nothing. We are told by adults growing up that we can do anything we put our mind to. We automatically blurt out that we want to be a princess or president. But have you ever thought about the little things we can do to make a difference? Now, not all of us can be president or the next top model, but something we can all do is make a difference somehow, someway. We live in a society that practices transitional justice, which is how we choose to deal with the past. As of lately, lots of past events have been seemingly repeating themselves due to our poor attempt at fixing them the first time. We see a lot of issues that were supposed to be dealt with long ago such as our on-going battle with racism. Something that we all see almost everyday but the reason these problems keep arising and there is no solid change is that we are not trying hard enough. We choose to use our most powerful tool being our social media to how we should. Instead of using them to speak out on important issues and spread the messages we choose to stalk our exes and repost fight videos. It takes one minor action to make a difference. A simple tweet, hi in the hallway, or a compliment can make a world of difference to someone else. The one thing I hope you take from this is that attempt to make a difference. Don't be afraid to take a stance and stand out among the crowd.

Binge Worthy, continued 3. Stranger Things OMG! How can I explain the awesomeness of this show with words, well why not see it for yourself? While searching through Netflix looking for a new show to binge on, I found Stranger Things. I was kind of skeptical. I usually don't watch superpower, scientific like shows , I’m more into comedy, drama, and horror. But I think that's what make this show so great, no matter what genre you like , I honestly believe you will love this show. From a girl with powers, and people disappearing how could you not be intrigued? 4. Power It’s almost Halloween, and Ghost (the main character) already has us spooked. Ghost may appear to have

it all, with a beautiful family, and a booming business, but behind his success is the dangerous life of the drug game. Ghost is a big time drug dealer whose life is filled with drama, from cheating, to snakes, and death. Power is captivating, yet dangerous tale about the life of a drug dealer. 5. Chapelle Show Chapelle Show is hands down one of the funniest, daring comedy-sketch shows ever created. Dave Chappelle gives us politics, celebrity scandals, and real-life experience all in funny skits. Created in 2006, The Chapelle show is one of the most controversial shows to ever appear on Tv ,the show also features many famous celebrities like Charlie Murphy, Rick James, Kanye West and many more. Comedy had never been more legendary!

They fought hard and played a pretty good defensive game. It was just for a few plays that really turned the tables and the score Turner’s way. We had a nice turnout though with a lot of students coming in support of the Wildcats. They stayed and cheered the whole time. I say it was a good game and hopefully we can be on the other end of the score the rest of the season. Go Wildcats!!!

----By JonNisha Wells Student of the Week: Ja'Deion Bell, freshman Ja'Deion Bell is a freshman that came from Arrowhead middle school and considers herself a hard worker. Transitioning from 8 to 4 classes a day is boring for her because it's too long for her. Since she has been here at Washington, she has grown a love for band, which she plays clarinet in. If she had one snack that she could eat everyday in high school, it would be BBQ chips.
