CASE STUDY TAKAVA coffee-buffet is an atmospheric coffee shop in the center of Kiev. It declares itself already in the title. The logo of the coffee shop was rounded in the shape of a Turkish cezve. Its sense of the same “proven place” and association with “Turkish” became the leading motifs in the interior of the studio YUDIN Design. TAKAVA coffee-buffet design encounters velvet impressions, which reveal more and more a rich taste, along with the contemplation of individual details. The designers deliberately chose for the design of the cafè materials that create barely perceptible an aged effect: light wood and the same rustling plaster, red brick and burning copper. Scattered lighting complements this impression. The soft textures in the interior are represented by velvet wall panels, which in the form resembled a jezve. The same shape can be found in the design of round puffs of different colors. Coffee, red and even turquoise shades inspire associations with an oriental coffee shop. Tables, like all other furniture, were designed by the studio YUDIN Product - so named Vladimir and Aleksandr their workshop which creates design furniture and accessories. Both sides of the coffee tables are slanted, which again reminds the jezve. From this case study of the retail project, TAKAVA coffee shop definitely gives out a lot of great ideas of how to take advantage of space planning in such small space, and to represent its branding with by playing with the texture and shapes. This project s hows me one of the great ways in design to shows the representation of its branding, which benefits and gives me ideas for National Geographic project.
CASE STUDY The Thompson Exhibition Building was designed for Mystic Seaport, Museum of America and the Sea, as a keynote building for the 19-acre riverfront campus. The building is located where the Seaport’s previous indoor-oriented exhibit spaces were concentrated, and forms the new Donald C. McGraw Gallery Quadrangle. This sociable greensward, with a panoramic view of the Mystic River, provides an appealing venue for activities ranging from outdoor concerts to impromptu picnics.
In addition to a 5,000-square- foot exhibition gallery with a high ceiling for displaying boats, the building features visitor reception and events space, a retail shop, a café and outdoor terraces overlooking the Mystic River. Energy-efficient components and geothermal heating and cooling are also incorporated in the design. The flexible exhibition space features soaring ceilings and demountable walls to accommodate objects of varying size and installations of all types, from watercraft to priceless works of fine art and gallery-based educational programs. A riverfront gathering room graces the west side of the building and can be reconfigured for conferences, additional gallery space, or educational programs, adding to the new building’s versatility.
From this case study of the exhibition project, it definitely has a great design of space planning and fully represent and responding the outdoor feature of its surrounding environment, such as ocean and boats, to the indoor design by playing around with the design of ceilings and walls. This is definitely a great inspiration for me to design the project.
CASE STUDY For Arhitekt 11, the inspiration for planning the Äripäev office was a very special factory building built at the beginning of the 20th century and the media company’s wish for an open office for 280 employees. Äripäev is Estonia’s most famous and largest business newspaper, radio and publishing company. The office space has a maximum height of 12.6m, office length 63.7m and a width of 38.3m. A modern open-space media company office for 280 people has been created in this historic space with activity-based working principles. The working landscape is on the outer perimeter of the space, moving to the center there are open and closed meeting rooms and in the center is a public space with a library and work-cafe. In order to exhibit the unique constructions of the building, there is a small atrium between the ground floor and the main floor, from where a whole constructive post can be seen from top to bottom. The biggest challenge was to achieve the acoustics needed for working. Since there are not enough wall surfaces, all closed ceilings are covered with acoustic wool boards. There are also many acoustic materials used in the furniture - the screens on tables, the backs of cabinets, telephone chairs. From this case study of the office project, it definitely has a great design of space planning with the well-balanced interior design. In responding the local area by using the exiting factory building, the designer definitely adopted the exisiting elements very well to the indoor. What inspired me the most is how the designer turned such huge space into office uses, as well as making sure it has a very well acoustics space by using varieties of materials. Overall, this is a successful office project.

CONCEPT “Nest is the spot in which a bird lays and incubates its eggs and raises its young. For some species, a nest is simply a shallow depression made in sand; for others, it is the knot-hole left by a broken branch, a burrow dug into the ground, a chamber drilled into a tree, an enormous rotting pile of vegetation and earth, a shelf made of dried saliva or a mud dome with an entrance tunnel. nests are primarily used for breeding, they may also be reused in the non-breeding season for roosting and some species build special dormitory nests or roost nests (or winter-nest) that are used only for roosting.
The concept of a nest is to represent the importance of how carefully we should all nurture lives in the world, no matter where or when. The grassy cup nest is built with natural elements, but also with care and delicate love to nurture lives by birds, as we all human should care about the world as well. Nest represents love and nature, which the National Geographic always tell everyone by presenting varieties articles of science, geography, history, and world culture through their publications.

CLIENT PROFILES Ensuring that medical and health services are accessible to the elderly population is an important consideration.
Identifying medical services locations in relation to elderly population is a major challenge for most municipalities. Concentrating services within specific areas dense with senior citizens may address issues in servicing these communities.
048
The building type and the client’s requirements of the space will determine the minimum square footage of each space, most importantly also based on code requirements by law. For additional 15 percent of the total area is typically added for circulation space and restrooms. Storage areas should be easily accessible to all building occupants, including visitors and waste haulers. Any area containing recycling bins must be fully ADA accessible. Important to consider the maximum number of occupants who will be served by the space. It’s a legal requirement that every room have the minimum code-mandated area to accommodate the expected number of occupants.
049
SITE ANALYSIS The project site is located in the main downtown area, where can be easily accessed with public transportations. There are certainly no tall building around the site, where give efficient nature light to the project site.
050
Biki is Honolulu’s new transportation system, brought to you by Bikeshare Hawaii. Launched in late June 2017, Biki has 1,000 bikes at 100 conveniently located self-service “Biki Stops” from Chinatown to Diamond Head.
051
SUSTAINABLE SITE ASSESSMENT Topography: This land area is already developed with multiple mixed land use, and the land surface is fairly flat. The neighbor buildings are all constrain under 100 feet with zone height limits by Hawaii State planning department. Mountain and ocean areas are miles away from the project site. Hydrology: Lakes and shorelines are currently miles away from the project site. The site will install with the accessible to public water and plumbing. Vegetation: The project site is currently have an existing lawn and trees along with the street traffic roads with trees that owned by the State. Soils: Current status of the soils in the project site will be exam and informed by a professional department. Human Use: The project site will have fairly natural lighting to the structure by having the advantage of such big open spaces and neighbor buildings are all constrain under 100 feet height limit. Also, public transportation and bike stations can be easily accessible in this neighborhood. Human Health Impacts: The location of the project site is fairly easy to access to these locations, such as public transportations, parking, multiple medical facilities, States departments, public parks, and a lot of different commercial spaces, etc. The site is located at one of the most busy traffic downtown areas in the city but also the most convenient space in the city.
052
053
RESEARCH - ADA throughout the whole spaces - Community area to be located in the center of the building for elderly easy to access and nurses’ office also needs to be in the center of the building for them to easily access to anywhere to the building in case of any medical emergency. - Emergency calling buttons to be placed in many necessary areas.
54
Design considerations will be different based on whatever groups we are designing for. Middle-aged adults and elderly groups will definitely affect the whole design consideration intents. Middle-aged adults are most likely to have better health more than elderly who often need constant medical cares, even daily assistance. It will definitely affect the overall space planning and design, such as the consideration on furniture, materials, or colors, etc. It would be a definite challenge when we are designing for this project because there are more considerations and details that we have to pay attention to. We need to consider elderly’s health conditions, needs, and space that provides them comfort, safety and easy to access Describe what innovative wayfinding techniques you can use for this project? • Interior space planning should be simple and user-friendly with no complications • Simplified and large signages that are easy to read • Color, icon, and font is crucial • Landmarks - simple as a painting on a wall or a plant in the corner, particularly at the intersection of hallways, where directional decisions must be made • Proper indoor lighting is crucial • The best option for a color scheme is one of medium contrast, to the walls and floors feature soothing, alternating hues • Mirrors should be avoided because they distort the appearance and actual size of objects indoors
Why do you think these ideas will benefit seniors? • Good lighting makes navigation easier • Color plays an important part in helping residents move around with confidence • Landmarks help residents to have clear directions in the space • Large and simplified signages help to navigate and inform residents with clear information
How have these ideas impacted your floor plan development? • Color scheme needs to be noticeable in the design • Sufficient lighting must be provided and think-through in the space • Simplified and direct space planning • Everything must be user-friendly

CONCEPT “Aloha Ohana” is where always giving warmth welcome to the families. In Hawaiian words, “Aloha” means hello or welcome, and “Ohana” means family.
The overall scheme for Kamehameha Serior Living Center project will adopt clear and fresh interior design while also using traditional Hawaiian elements and colors to inspire and give warmth to the whole space. In Hawaii islands, we are a strong bonded family altogether by connected with our beautiful mother nature. The ocean, sky, and trees are keep reminding us to not forget our roots. These elements would be incoperated into Kamehaneha Serior Living Center to appreciate our Ohana with Aloha.

RCP DESIGN
The RCP drawing that shows which shows the items are located on the ceiling of a room or space. It is referred to as a reflected ceiling plan since it is drawn to display a view of the ceiling as if it was reflected onto a mirror on the floor. The lighting in a home changes the mood of a room just as it does the perceived size of a room. Placement and type are important aspects of interior design, and they work in conjunction with colour selections, room size, availability of natural light and furniture selection. The elements that come together when the right lighting is achieved transform a room into a seamless combination of functionality and style. Lighting is an important aspect of interior design as it enhances the aesthetic appeal and creates the mood and ambiance of a living space.

CONCEPT “Reconnect with our Roots” is where we always remember and having the warmth feeling and memories.
It is a concept that will be applied on project of Urban Food market. This concept is inspired from a statement by Tony Riviera, the CEO of Primo Hospitality Group, once stated, “I want people to be able to experience the Primo brand in different environments while still remaining true to our roots.” The design of the market thereby will show a strong concept by elements of the nature, which reminds every single one of us should remain to our roots, and supporting organic, local, sustainable farmers, fisherman and ranchers which is also the main focus for the market.
83
MATERIAL BOARD Our heritage is a link to the past. It is important for all of us to remember.
