The design of the Salina Center for Studio Craft focuses on creating a symbol that embraces the growth of an art district and a link that unites a downtown to the residential area of the city.

Ps

The building itself is divided by an outdoor courtyard that is used as a sculpture gallery which displays student artwork to the community. This space serves as public entrance to the other galleries and a large community lecture hall.

Manhattan Infill Project year

spring 2015

location

Manhattan, KS.

02

This infill project design focuses on the use of natural lighting for indoor photography studios. The design celebrates an alley, revitalizing it and turning the otherwise unused space into a space where various balconies enjoy a comfortable view of the sorrounding areas in Manhattan, KS. Spaces are organized around the idea of light. Southern light being the “active” light and Northern light being the “silent” light.
