What to use and when to use it
SUBSTRATE OPTIONS 1. PLASTIC CORRUGATED BOARD (CORRIBOARD / CORREX BOARD) Corrugated polypropylene sheets, available in 3/4/5/10mm thick sheets, can be printed full colour both sides, great for low cost short-term outdoor use. Examples Election Posters, hoarding signs, directional signs
2. PVC FOAMEX PVC foam board, suitable for indoor and outdoor use, durable despite light weight, available in variety of thicknesses from 0.6mm up to 10mm, available in white and black, easily cut to unique shapes. Can be laminated for added durability. Examples: Internal wall signs, #hashtag cutouts,
3. FOAM-CORE BOARD (KAPPA BOARD) Usually 5mm thick, very light material, rigid, suitable for indoor use, high quality print, easily cut to unique shapes but damages easily. Examples: easel boards, showcards, larger strutted boards
4. DIBOND Composite aluminium board, usually 3mm thick. Suitable for durable outdoor use, standard size 1220mm x 2440mm, also available in 1500mm x 3000mm, can be cut to any size and shape. i.e. Hoarding signs, building/factory signs, building site signs.
5. ACRYLIC (PLEXIGLAS) Usually clear but also available in other colours. Can be printed direct, also popular with cut out vinyl lettering applied. Often fitted with risers for company name wall signs. Fantastic results with edge lit LEDs as in photo.
6. PVC BANNER MATERIAL (TARPAULIN) Often finished with a hem and eyelets, suitable for outdoor use. Low cost, flexible and easy to transport option. Can be lashed to railings, fences, walls etc.
7. MESH BANNERS Ideal for scaffolding wraps, site guard, fences. Lets some wind through.
8. CONTRAVISION Ideal for use on windows and glass doors. When viewed from exterior the printed image is clear and visible but from the inside you can see out as if the material isn’t there. Great for vehicle windows, office windows, glass doors
9. ADHESIVE VINYL FILM Can be printed full colour, or done with frosted film and is often applied to glass/windows, for vehicle wraps or to office walls to create a feature wall. Easily cut to any shape. Can have a gloss or matt laminate applied.
10. CUT OUT VINYL Either printed white vinyl cut to shape or using specific colour adhesive vinyl, widely used for Estate Agent Boards before large format digital printing became available.
11. PRINTED FABRICS For flags, Artex for display backdrops, Canvas for photo frames, or any temporary external sign.
12. STADUR BOARD 10mm for extra rigid double sided large board prints.
13. MAGNETIC Magnetic material that can be printed. Great for vehichle graphcs, internal factory signs and more.
14. ANTI SLIP Anti-slip floor graphics, basically a high grade adhesive vinyl with durable anti-slip laminate.
15. LIGHTBOX Lightbox (backlit) materials, needed for backlit prints so that light is more evenly dispersed.
