What is Freegesturay?
Freegesturay
FREE GESTURAY Freegesturay is a vehicle payment system based on gesture. It is designed because of three reasons: 1. Enhance user experience. 2. Gesture Manipulation will increase driving safety. 3. Establish integrated personal information system based on internet.
This work has been awarded as “Third-place Award” of 2013 National Industrial Design Contest for College Students (CUIDC)

The Internet of Things
The management of personal information, especially personal consumption information is a social hot pot. This project tries to explore an approach to bring vehicle-related consumption information into personal consumption system, which can be beneficial to the integrality and registration of individual information.
“The Internet of Things” is called as the third wave of information industry development. Utilizing “Internet of Things Technique”in the automotive field can contribute to the formation of “Internet of Vehicle”, which can help collect and register vehicle information.
Enhance User Experience
Improve Operational Efficiency
Improving user experience of driving environment is a major direction of current vehicle design. The amelioration of user experience can enhance the attraction and joy of driving.
Actions in the process of vehicle driving are various. This project explores a new operation mode of interior devices of car to deminish action complexity, lift easness of action memory and make car interior operation convenient and fast.

RFID Gesture Control
Car interior operation modes were in the process of further diversification nowadays. Typical operation mode includes button-based control, touch-screen control, voice manipulation, gesture-based mode and so on. These new operation modes can enhance the efficiency of interior car manipulation and create new user experience. Among all these operation modes, gesture-based operation, which can increase the efficiency of manipulation, decrease complexity of memory and maximize natural interaction attributions, has gained great attention. Therefore, many applicaiton and devices on base on gesture have been developed. Typical application field of gesture in vehicle include navigation, social network and so forth.

Gesture Test To determine gestures respectively corresponding to operating command of Freegesturay, 3-D gestures have been collected from living situaiton and thesis for this project. After that, user participatory test has been conducted upon collected gestures in order to pick out the suitable gestures for Freegesturay.

Participatory Design
Identify a function and guide users to work out their favorite gesture corresponding to this function. And then, draw this gesture.
1. Provide several possible gestures for function mentioned before and let testees imitate those gestures. 2. Ask users for other gestures that may possibly fit in with this function.
1. List all gestures including original offered gestures and those provided by testees out and let testees rank them according to their suitability with the function. 2. Ask testees for and record the advantage and disadvantage of those gestures.

To diminish transfer of visual center and ensure driving comfort, Head-Up display is been applied to complete information display of Freegesturay. I have researched vehicle types equiped with HUD and their respective features for the interface design of Freegesturay.
To know about the datavolume displayed on vehicle-based HUD screen, I have counted existed vehicles with HUD screen including BMW, Audi, Peugeot, Nissan, Cadillac and Nexus. The graphic in the left shows the HUD datavolume of each vehicle type.

The outcome of research shows that datavolume of character is 1.82; the datavolume of icon is 1.32. Those data can be conductive to subsequent interface design.

In this project, I defined three basic gestures, corresponding respectively to three basic operational command of Freegesturay. By using those gestures,users can manipulate Freegesturay easily. Those three gestures can also be arranged randomly as password for this payment system.

As we consider drving safety, our focus in designing in-car user interfaces should not be purely on eliminating distractions. Automotive user interfaces also offer the opp;ortunity to improve the driver’s performance. Voice Recognition

User Test CONTRAST EXPERIMENT Touch screen operation and three-dimensional gesture operation on music player Experimental Objective Know about merit and demerit of two kinds of operating gestures
Test Content This test is conducted in Human-Computer Interaction Lab at School of Design, Hunan University. Two kinds of music player (touch screen and three dimensional gesture) has been applied in this test. Users are asked to finish specified action(major task). While driving, users should obey basic traffic regulations. Besides, users should finish minor tasks (Press a voice-making device as soon as possible when seeing a lightspot on left bottom of the screen).
Testees 18 people possessing driving license with different ages, ocupations and driving years, etc.

Noah’s Ark is a kind of inflatably initial self rescue equipment for salvage which can be straightened and connected with each other to become a raft. It combines functions of buoy , raft and oar , which change the usage mode of buoy overwhelmingly. The survivors holding together can encourage each other and improve will for life. Striking orange fluorescent loop can guide the rescuers to find survivors and expel sharks. It can avoid suvivors soaking in the sea for long time, increasing the survival rate at a certain extent.

RESIDENCE GARBAGE DISPOSAL IN CAMPUS project for system design

Introductions The dormitory garbage disposal system is composed of three essential parts: 1.students disposal; 2.Cleaner disposal; 3.Comprehensive disposal system of campus. Dormitory garbage disposal system did a lot of contributions to campus including keeping clean environment, creating a more convenient campus life and offering different approach of garbage disposal. However, problems still exist because of the improper design of dormitory garbage disposal system. Our reasons for surveying this project is to achieve targets as follows by designing related products: 1. Classify garbage reasonably and enhance recycle of usable materials. 2. Lower dormitory environment pollution and make students dormitory more safety (Presenting outcome of fire disaster and other accident) 3. Increase working efficiency of dormitory garbage disposal. 4. Lengthen working limitation of related equipment as much as possible. Related design point will be on realm such as: 1. Change and improve disposal flow; 2. Design related equipments. Trine

BASIC IMFORMATIONOF HUNAN UNIVERSITY Stereotypical campus of HNU
Changsha
Hunan University is located in Yuelu District, Changsha. Campus disperse with the center of Dongfanghong Square. Lushan south street is the main streets of campus. Living zone locate in Tianma to the west of Fubuhe Road with about 20 minutes walking distandce to campus. HNU has an open campus. It mixes with residence space,commercial space,public transportation and other public facilities. Indeed, most universities located in this zone share this feature. Because of these reasons,it is relatevely hard to manage university zone of Changsha. This district is always perplexed with babelism and congestion.
Changsha,the capital of Hunan,sited in the hill terrain of middle south China. It is in the northeast of Hunan province, the downsteam of Xiang River. Changsha is in the west of Changliu basin with clime of subtropical monsoon climate. The population of Changsha is 7,100,000. It rains a lot in the middle of spring and summer.The weather changes a lot in spring. However, in summer and autumn,the weather is mostly sunny.Changsha has relatively short winter period but a extremely long summer period.
Yuelu District Yuelu district is the rallying point of Changsha’s main universities.The district has an area of 145 square kilometers with population of 410,000. It is one of the 6 districts of Changsha. Yuelu district named by the famous interest Yuelu mountain.It congregates lots of high technique companies and universities with great amount of high quality human resource and technique creative abilities.

Building Garbage Classification
For each day, garbage of Tianma will be gathered at the garbage rally point for three purposes: 1. Rally garbage 2. Wait for carrying away 3. Recycle some valuable things. This step is taken by Garbage compressor operator and Driver of sanitation truck.
After floor garbage collection, cleaners will classify garbage detailedly at first floor for selling purpose. Firstly, they will classify garbage by hands according to their sorts and then, sell it to rag-man separately.
Garbages will be carried away 1 time a day for 160 yuan each. After that, garbage will be sent to landfill of Changsha at HongshanQiao.

Food material supplier
Each building has cleaners from 2-4persons, according to size of dormitory building. Cleaners will classify garbage into recyclable and irrecyclabe twice a day at 6:00 AM and 2:00PM separately. The frequency will increase in graduate seasons; After that, They will sell the recyclable garbage privately. The cleaners have a barrel for irrecyclable garbage and a sack for recyclable garbage.

In research, I find that this building has been reconstructed into a lab for the Biology College besides works as a lecture room for important meetings.Thus, the main garbage of Yifu building is the waste of experiment and meeting waste.To reduce toxic materials waste and keeping lecture room clean,staffs clean this building frequently.

Government invest for building the system,2. company is in charge of operation,management and sale,3. Schools generate garbage,4. Profits can partly belong to operator,except for those that must be returned to government gradually. Besides,schools can also obtain benefits such as recycled products Detailed flow is: 1. Cleaners use devices provided by companies to collect garbage into bins inside buildings. 2. Then E-car carries bins on time to collection point. 3. Next a truck will come by and stop at each collection point in order,then compress and carry garbage away and deliver it to recycling station. 4. Then, according to nationâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s standard, the garbage will be sorted into 4 categories and then sent to relevant companies or agencies. 5. The enterprices need to pay for all the recyclable resource. 6. And then the recycled products can be put into market, some part of benefits must be returned to schools as repayment,such as paper. 7. Eco-ring: It is a new-style sorted dustbin placed in the student dormitory. Four circles of this equipment with different colors represents four kinds of garbages.Trash bags hang over the circles,garbages can be discarded along with bags when they are full.
It is a group of square trash cans. Cleaners put garbages from capsules into the dust cart.Cube 4 fixes holders and troughs to make it easy for carrying more conveniently. 1 In dormitory, students discard into garbage cans with four categories: recyclable, irrecyclable, kitchen garbage and toxic garbage.Then collect them into bins in corridor.
CAPSULE Capsule:It is a set of dustbins just like capsules and consist of barrel,rail,lever and fixing device. When using it,you’ll pull the lever a little in horizontal direction,and spin it in vertical direction,garbages are dumped entirely from CAPSULES.
3 Bins in corridor,cleaners pour the garbage in categories from bins into CLIMBER.Then deliver them down to 1F,waiting for SOLAR, a small dust cart in campus.
CLIMBER Climber: The climber can load four trunks (the “cube”), it can climb stair with its special wheels easily.

GENESIS Rapid Prototyping System for Standard Living Community after Disaster After Refugee camp ; For standard community
Human habitation is always ruthlessly swallowed by natural disasters and wars,so the most important thing is to let those people affected by the disaster to regain confidence, go out of the shadow and build new homes. In current society, disaster assistance machinery has made great progress; However, the problem of post-disaster reconstruction has not been solved properly, since it takes long time and is expensive. Genesis is a system for the post-disaster rapid reconstruction, with the feature of recycling construction waste materials and reconstruction. By using the most advanced Contour Crafting technology, Genesis is able to quickly build houses which meet 10 years living demand. By using Genesis, construction waste materials cleared up from the site of ruins can be made into 3D print materials,achieving the purpose of full use of resources and reduction of land consumption.In addition, Genesis focuses on the active mobilization of the affected people. Through engineering training and participation in the relatively low-tech public facilities and virescence construction,they can accelerate the reconstruction of community.It not only uses available human resources rationally, but also brings benefits for the affected people and inspire their passion to rebuild their homeland.

Genesis focuses on the active mobilization of the affected people.After engineering training and participate in the relatively low-tech public facilities and green construction,they can accelerate the forming of community.It's not only use available human resources rationally, but also bring benefits for the affected people and inspire the passion of the people to rebuild their homes.
According to a survey, current reconstruction has problems such as complexed process, unobvious region devision, long time-consuming, which causes much potential safety hazard for victims with low skill level entering into reconstruction region. However, Genesis creates a great opportunity for victims participating in reconstruction process. Firstly, its enclosed property and intelligence seperates high-risk house construction with low-tech public and virescence facility construction, enhancing security for participant victims. Besides, Genesis is efficient, which can avoid long-term work of victims. and also, it sufficiently meet victims’ desire to rebuild their hometown.

We always like to buy health food and nourished supplements for disadvantaged groups such as the blinds and the old. However, because of eye diseases and information display problems, those disadvantaged people always feel hard to know the expiration date of food, which will bring problems such as food waste and safety issue. FOOD SPEAKER is a new-style bar code scanner with features like small form, high sensitivity and wide scanned area. To get rid of being lost and be user-friendly, FOOD SPEAKER can be attached to a finger. Just by sweeping easily, it can acquire information stored in the bar code. After changing digital information to sound information, FOOD SPEAKER can “speak out”information like date of manufacture, expiration date and so forth. For these reasons, FOOD SPEAKER is a convenient product and it is specially suitable for the old, the blinds and other people with eye diseases.

When riding on road, gestures is a necessary but dangerous way to send message to other drivers. Usually, drivers has to use only one hand to grasp direction of bike while using the other hand to form gestures sending message. With the growth of motor vehicle, this way of sending message will potentially threaten ridersâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; safety. When putting Gesture on Ride on hand, riders can use simple gestures to control signal lamp on the bike; Thus, riders can send message without potential safety problems.

I made the prototype of Gesture on Ride by using four kinds of appliances. 1. The Flex sensor: It can detect the curvature of finger and transmit data. 2. The Arduino: It can receive outer data and send command to effective appliances. 3. The LED Array: It plays the role of back taillight and turnlight. 4. Flashlight: It plays the role of headlight.

TUMBLER-DESK Every child has ever tried their best to create an astonishing paint; Every child has ever shown their works to parents for praise. However, most traditional desks have no display function. Even those that can be used for display, their display function is not that intersting, convenient and practical. Thus, we need a drawing desk to promote the interaction between parents and children. Making use of Tumbler Struture and Corrugation Structure, Tumbler-desk ensures quick transition from drawing to display. Besides, it offers a new way of stationary storage. It possesses display function as soon as child gets up from it.

1 Children can put crayons between two corrugations of the desk plate as a new way of storing stationery.
2 Corrugation structure can ensure crayons be fixed between it when the Tumbler-desk get vertical. Children have a strong motive to show their paintings as artists. As usual, Children have to pin up their drawing works on the wall, which is somewhat difficult for them. Besides, this way can not provide immediate display after painting and the process of driving nail may hurt them. Therefore, a new style desk for children that can exhibit paintings quickly, which can enhance the interaction between parents and children, is essentially needed.
Tumbler-desk combines convenience and interest in this case. 1. Lying down, it works as an usual desk for drawing and stationery storage. 2. Standing up, Tumbler-desk can play the role of a display board.

TILTED WHITEBOARD When people need to write on the underpart of whiteboard, they often have to bend waist, squat or twist wrist to ensure that characters are ordered. However, this is much inconvenient. And this is even harder for the elder users. White board has two fixed position: THE VERTICAL and THE TILTED. These two positions will ensure users to write comfortbly on any part of the whiteboard. Thus, "Tiled Whiteboard" offers users a new way of convenient writing.

② Common whiteboard which can rotate nowadays will shake when writers write on it with one hand even if users try to hold it with another hand.

Thus, cleaning tools should be efficient, labor-saving, and easily movable. Beach Cleaner is designed specifically to solve this problem. It can be dragged easily by cleaners, thus, they can clear all remains on their track, changing boring clear-up work into freer, more convenient and efficient work filled with interest.

Metal Pull-tab&Rubber Sleeve Pull-tab with aluminium alloy can be used to fix and drag Beach Cleaner. The handle is covered with rubber, which can enhance friction between Beach Cleaner and user’s hand.

Vertical Buckle&Rubber Sleeve The buckle can fix drag rod and rubbish can, making dumping rubbish easier; The bottom of drag rod is covered with a layer of rubber, which makes it easy to fasten the pull rod with buckle.

If we can make full use of pencil stubs that would be discarded, the original waste can be minimized. The new design allows us to reuse pencil stubs by connecting a pencil stub and a new pencil. Compared with traditional pencils, â&#x20AC;&#x153;0.1+1â&#x20AC;?pencil changes a little. By adding some threads on both side of a pencil, users can use pencil stub easily and resource waste can be reduced. 0.1+1 Pencil

SCRAPE - Gesture based light operation system in vehicle “Scrape” is a product for light modulation based on vehicle platform. Currently, there’s no control system in vehicle which offers an applicable way to regulate automobile light seamlessly and most light control panel is keyboard form or touchscreen form. Based on this background, “Scrape” provides an approach to control every bit of light in vehilcle by using gesture. By moving hand clockwisely, the field in vehicle corresponding to the angle that user’s hand has swept will be lightened up; By moving hand anticlockwisely, light in relevant field in vehicle will extintuish. Besides, the automobile brightness can be modulated by simply raising hand or lowering hand. By using “Scrape”, users can adjust automobile light system at will. Scrape
