Selected Academic + Professional Projects Armature Urbanism | University of Washington | 2010 This thesis project details the design of a trail at the fringe of urban infrastructure; the trail passes through a power line corridor, a freeway underpass, and a forested hillside of invasive and successional Northwest species. The project examines trail design as a constructed narrative, an urban planning priority, and a graphic design challenge. The design project and related writings have been recognized through: exposition at the Barcelona European Landscape Biennial (2010), WASLA Written Work Student Award (2010), and invitation to submit to Terrain Vague: The Interstitial as Site, Concept, Intervention (UMass, 2011). King Street Visioning Project | University of Washington | 2009 Co-led a class of student design teams through a community participation design process, including; development of outreach activities, interpretation of community input; communication of this community input to students to inform design process; compilation and graphic summary of student design work for submission to international design competition. Class work was selected for exhibition at the 4th International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam. Public Spaces, Public Life | University of Washington | 2008 In student partnership, developed a conceptual master plan for the historic Pioneer Square District of Seattle, WA, focused on the reclamation of alley spaces for social street life. Future Energy Leipzig | Anhalt University of Applied Sciences | 2007 In student partnership, developed GIS-based alternative planning and policy scenarios for land-based alternative energy solutions for the City of Leipzig, DE. Planning on Farming Ohio | Center for Farmland Policy Innovation and OSU Extension | 2007 Authored and co-developed a model to analyze agricultural policy, value, and stability in Ohio. Study received highest award in KSA intern competition juried by professionals, academics, and City of Columbus oďŹƒcials.
