THE INTRODUCTORY FLIGHT LESSON A GREAT WAY TO TEST OUT YOUR WINGS
Whether you already have an interest in learning to fly, are taking lessons in a different type of aircraft, are a “Rusty Pilot”, or just want to sight see, this is the perfect place to start. It’s about half an hour of flight time and you’ll get to take the controls to see for yourself how exhilarating the Freedom of Flight is. The $59 flight takes place in one of our two seat Diamond DA20 Eclipses. If you’d like to bring someone along, we also offer a $99 option in our four seat Diamond DA40 Star.

LEARNING TO FLY IN A DIAMOND
DIAMOND AIRCRAFT VS. OLD SCHOOL AIRCRAFT • Diamond Aircraft have the best safety record in the industry • Diamond Aircraft are a much newer, more efficient, design • The visibility in both the DA20 and DA40 is unmatched by that of traditional training aircraft • You’ll develop great stick and rudder skills • It’s just plain more fun to fly!
ANSWERS
to your questions
HOW LONG... will it take to get my license? The basic FAA requirements are 40 hours of flight time, 20 of which must be with an instructor and 10 of which must be solo.
BUT... Most students take a little longer, averaging 50-60 hours of flight time with about 40 hours of instruction.
THE MORE OFTEN YOU FLY, THE FASTER YOU’LL EARN YOUR WINGS. Some students fly only once a week; at that pace, it takes on average a year or so to obtain your license. Flying two to three times a week, you’ll progress more quickly and therefore be ready for your checkride faster. That being said, we’re on YOUR time table. You can fly as frequently (or infrequently) as your schedule and bank account allow.
Is my Instructor
GOING TO DITCH ME for an airline job?
IN SHORT, NO. Our Instructors are just that, Flight Instructors. They have a combined 70+ years of experience and are here because they enjoy the art of Instructing, as well as the challenges and rewards it provides. We pride ourselves on having a great set of Instructors who are pursuing their dreams of the Freedom of Flight and still get to be at home every night.
ANSWERS
to your questions
HOW MUCH is it going to cost me? For your Private Pilot Certificate, if you complete the minimum FAA requirements and, here’s the important part, your Instructor feels that you’re ready for your check ride, your total cost will be about $5,500-$6,500 (in a DA20). As stated earlier though, it’ll probably take a little longer. At the average training length, you’ll be spending about $7,500-$8,500 at our current rates.
ADVANCED
Training & Ratings
SPIN TRAINING While all flight training includes spin awareness and recovery discussions, most people have no practical experience in entering and exiting a spin. We offer an optional, approximately half day course in our Diamond DA20-C1s. You’ll receive in-depth ground training about spin anatomy and spin recovery, and then you’ll get to execute and recover from spins in both directions in flight. INSTRUMENT RATING Have a trip planned and the weather forecast changes? Always stressed about the weather forecast when on a trip? Want to fly to unfamiliar or more congested areas? Then obtaining your Instrument Rating is the perfect next step. We combine simulator training with real-world flight application to ensure you have the skills and decision making abilities to become a competent Instrument Rated pilot. And yes, that means you can fly through the clouds. COMMERCIAL RATING After achieving your Instrument, the next step is your Commercial Rating. All of our Instructors say it was their favorite rating to obtain, learning maneuvers like Chandelles and Eights on Pylons. If you have even an inkling that you might like to earn some extra cash with your license, then this rating is a must! MULTI-ENGINE RATING If you own or have access to a multi-engine aircraft, then we can help you with that rating too. The majority of our instructors are also MEIs and are able to instruct in your airplane once a few requirements are met.

DIAMOND STAR DA40-180
The Diamond Star is a sleek composite airframe, the four place big sister to the DA20. She is fully equipped for IFR conditions with a Garmin 530W over a Garmin 430W. Our Diamond Star has a useful load of over 800 lbs, a true airspeed of 135 knots, and a no wind range of approximately 600 nautical miles. Perfect for short family vacations or IFR training, she’s a joy to fly.
DIAMOND ECLIPSE DA20-C1
The Diamond Eclipse is also a composite airframe, purpose built for flight training. A VFR ship, the DA20 is also spin certified (yes, we offer spin training!) and is extremely efficient. With a top speed of 130 knots and an approximately 500 nautical mile range in no wind, it’s like a two seat sports car for the sky that you’ll enjoy renting long after you earn your Private Pilot Certificate.

FLY THIS SIM TOUCH TRAINER VISUAL MOTION 100
In your Private Pilot studies, we utilize the sim for both procedures and emergency training as well as landing practice. In your Instrument Rating studies, we combine sim time with flight time, practicing an approach or hold on the sim before flying it in the airplane. We find this to be beneficial both for cost and for learning experience. In addition, the sim is also useful for currency once you earn your Instrument Rating.
