C HAPTER 1

The Alien and the Shopkeeper Lights flashed as a UFO came to land on Planet BickerBocker. A green alien glided to the ground on his six legs. He looked up at the sign on top of the shop: “UFO, DIY”. “This is the right place”, he thought to himself. The green alien’s name was Bob. Waking into the shop, Bob saw a hairy monster. Bob said, “Hello, what is your name?” The monster replied: “My name is Hairy.” “Hello Hairy”, said Bob. “And what is your name?” asked Hairy. “My name is Bob”, said Bob. “What are you looking for?” asked Hairy. “I work here”, he added. “Oh”, said Bob, “I am looking for some paint for my UFO.” “I know where there is some”, said Hairy, “Follow me”. Hairy took Bob to the paint section. When they got there they looked on the shelves and they found out that there was no paint. Hairy gasped in surprise. Bob said that they must have sold out, but Hairy said that this morning it was full, full, full of paint. What could have happened? They went to the till and dialled 999.

C HAPTER 2

The Mystery On the other end of the phone came a growl: “What is the problem?” asked a lion. “Somebody stole all our paint, and, by the way, what is your name?” “My name is Growly.” “OK, Growly. Now this is UFO DIY here.” “OK, I am coming right now, but it'll take a while to get to you from Planet Police! Since it's not a real emergency, I can't use the lightning speed hovermobile.” One hour later they heard sirens coming that way. Then a light flashed and Growly came out of the police UFO. He went up to Hairy and said that he looked very smart. Hairy said “thank you”, then they went into the shop to look for clues. When Growly looked on the floor, he saw a big curved mark. “What on BickerBocker could that be?” he wondered. He called Hairy over to show him. Hairy scratched his hairy head. He was thinking hard. Suddenly he had an idea. “I remember seeing some eggs rolling away from the shop. Let’s set a trap to see if they are the thieves.”

C HAPTER 3

The Trap The day after, at lunch time, when no one was left in the shop, they filled the shelves with paint again to catch the attention of the thieves. Bob had come back to help them and he also wanted to know what had happened. He was hoping that he could soon get the paint he needed for his UFO. He joined Growly and Hairy who were hiding in a large cardboard box nearby. Growly had made holes in the box so that they could look through. They didn't have to wait for long before finding out about the thieves. The thieves were Easter Eggs! Growly jumped on top of them, but the eggs were too fast. So Growly raced to his police UFO to catch them. One thing you need to know about Easter Eggs before we continue the story, is that they are very mischievous but not all of the time. They don’t understand a lot of things.

C HAPTER 4

The Search Growly managed to catch the eggs up and followed them to Planet Egg. When he got to the Planet, they had already landed, so he lost them. He decided to try to look for clues all over the Planet. Then he saw a Police-Egg. Growly asked the police-egg to help him, but the Police-Egg ignored him. You know, it is very difficult to get eggs to speak to non-eggs. So Growly roared his loudest roar, but the Police-Egg rolled away as fast as he could. Growly looked behind him, and he saw a huge pile of empty paint cans. There were enough to fill all the paint shelves in UFO DIY. Growly suddenly realised: the Eggs must have wanted to paint themselves beautiful colors in time for Easter. But that’s no excuse - stealing is still naughty. “I know, I could ask Bob to help me organise an Easter Egg hunt for the eggs. They love taking part in Easter Egg hunts and we could then explain to them that they shouldn’t have stolen the paint.”

C HAPTER 5

The Easter Egg Hunt Growly dialled: 45785324545575245451245896358557895789688658996 34. Then he heard a loud squeak on the other end of the phone. Growly said “This is Growly.” “Hi Growly”, said Bob. “I have got an idea”, said Growly. “We can prepare an Easter Egg hunt for the eggs as a trap! But I need your help. Can you help me give out leaflets all over Planet Egg?” “Of course I will!!!” replied Bob. So he went to the “Flyer-Saucer” print shop where they make all sorts of leaflets and told them what to write. He had 500 copies printed and gave half to Bob and took half himself. They both whizzed around the planet, dropping the leaflets down the Egg house chimneys. That evening the park was filled with eggs. Growly had
hidden lots of chocolate eggs as well as a few tins of paint among the bushes. He watched... Then he saw two eggs who were all shiny and wet. Those were the thieves!

C HAPTER 6

The Sorry Eggs Growly called Bob on his lunar phone. “Quick, I’ve found them”, he whispered. In a flash Bob was by his side with a huge basket that they both threw over the eggs. They were trapped! They loaded them into the Police UFO and took them back to Planet BickerBocker and to UFO DIY. Growly turned around and looked sternly at the Eggs. “Do you know why you are here?”, he asked. The Eggs said nothing (Eggs don’t usually talk to non-eggs!). So Growly explained to them that stealing was wrong and that they should not have taken the paint without paying. Suddenly the eggs started crying. “Why are you crying?” asked Growly. “Because we didn’t know it was wrong to take the lovely paint. We just wanted all the eggs on Planet Egg to be pretty for Easter” replied the eggs. “We promise we won’t do it again.” “Well, you have to go and say sorry to Hairy”, said Growly. “It’s up to him to decide what will happen to you”. The eggs got out of the Police UFO. All their paint was smudged because they had been crying. They went to find Hairy and told him how sorry they were.

Hairy thought for a moment and then he said: “Thank you for saying sorry. I think I know what you have to do to make up for your mistake. You now have to help Bob paint his UFO!”. The Eggs were happy because they loved painting, but they also told Growly that they wouldn’t be bad Eggs again. THE EGGND
