unprecedented dimension: Technological solutions for a totally new riding experience. A lightweight aluminum bridge frame with steel steering head for maximum stability forms the mainstay of the chassis. The frame layout fits perfectly into the classic-sport design of the new Horex and highlights the bike's clean lines. Horex engineers paid special attention to creating an active, dynamic seating position. "The knee indents in the narrow tank help perfectly integrate the rider into the bike," explains Horex CEO Clemens Neese. Efficient and precisely: Suspension elements: Incomparably smooth power output is redefined by the Horex supercharged VR6 engine. With this in mind, the engineers opted for an upside-down-fork with massive 50 mm tubes. This configuration provides outstanding braking stability and effective feedback. It also ensures precise front wheel control without sacrificing responsiveness. The 130 mm spring travel on the front fork reflects a perfect balance between performance and comfort.

Damping on the rear swing arm is handled by a central spring strut with compact, lightweight bell crank designed for a more progressive response force. The wide performance spectrum ranges from a dynamic, full-force day trip powered by the new VR6, to a laidback road tour for two. Sleek stability: Single swing arm The single swing arm suspension features an elegant design for maximum stability and precise control of the rear wheel – an important factor considering the prodigious power of the VR6. Along with easier removal of the rear wheel, another advantage of the single arm construction is that it enables a closer fit for the right-side exhaust tube. "This results in a narrower silhouette for the 1200 Horex and lowers wind resistance," says Neese. Less maintenance, longer service life: Belt drive system To ensure a smoother transfer of power from the compact VR6 engine to the rear wheel, the Horex engineers opted for a wearresistant, low-maintenance belt drive with high-strength fibers. This ensures a longer service life than conventional chain drives and is comparable to a drive shaft construction without all the drawbacks when it comes to unsprung weight. The innovative Horex belt drive solution sets new standards in motorcycle engineering for bikes in this performance range. Standard equipment: Radial brakes with ABS The new Horex features double-disc front brakes with radial 4piston calipers and single-disc, 2-piston caliper brakes in the back for unbeatable stopping power. Horex engineers placed high priority on implementing the latest-generation ABS system as standard equipment to maximize road safety.

Self-contained and extremely compact: Cooling system "One of the most important requirements for an engine like the VR6 is a highly-effective, dimensionally compact cooling system. The unique characteristics of a supercharger make it necessary to lower the temperature of the intake air to ensure efficient combustion," says Neese explaining the special challenges involved in designing the cooling system layout for the new Horex. The engineers integrated the intercooler into a compact, highly-efficient cooler with a depth of just 30 mm. "This highprecision design is technically advanced and self-contained," Neese explains. Exhaust system design: Ingenious engineering The right side of the new Horex is characterized by a tripleexhaust tube that makes a clear visual statement and promises a deep, throaty sound. This sleek design features an exhaust collector underneath the engine that joins the six header pipes – a unique approach to lowering noise emissions without increasing the dimensions of the silencers. Another positive aspect of this configuration is that it concentrates the weight of the Horex and lowers the center of gravity – an important factor when it comes to easy handling. Expertise: The engineering partners In designing the technical components for the new Horex, the project managers relied on top-notch, well-known suppliers and engineering partners to integrate their comprehensive expertise and make the Horex what it is: modern, unique, and innovative.
